One problem related to front air bag sensor control has been reported for the 2017 Jeep Renegade. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving the vehicle down a city street, with parked cars on either side (at approximately 18 miles per hour) and in a nearly straight line, all of the airbags deployed causing severe injury to the driver which required multiple surgeries. Black box data shows a roll over incident from one of the sensors. The vehicle did not roll over, nor did it hit a curb, the vehicle is in pristine condition except for the deployed airbags which deployed spontaneously. It is believed that this occurred due to either programming error (as has happened in the recalled Jeep grand cherokees) or a defective sensor from the factory. Fca USA was put on notice of this incident and, to date, has taken no steps to view the vehicle which we have preserved.
