Takata recall my 2017 Jeep Renegade seems to do this jerk / stalling thing while driving. Especially when the fuel level starts to get low. While running my car has this loud noise coming from the engine. I remember seeing smoke come from the engine and I only had the car for a year if that.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/26/2018

Car was in motion on a city street heading straight when it came to a complete stop. Various messages have been displayed the most previous times saying "to shift vehicle must be stopped" I wasn't trying to shift? no codes ever being shown are the same. All issues cause the car to completely stop. This is extremely dangerous on the roads ofcourse. It's already had an update to the system the dealership said was needed. Now back to doing the same thing so it's currently at the dealership again. Just hit 20k miles. All oil changes have been made on time as the Jeep has all warranties the chysler Dodge Jeep dealership offered. Can contact dealership for more detail. This has been ongoing since January 2018.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/07/2018

Multiple warning messages illuminate the dash, such as check engine, check brake, and countless others. Also the car locks up and will not start or will only go in reverse. This happens upon attempting to start the vehicle and also while actively driving it. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership over 6 times for the same issue and multiple software updates have been performed and the tcm has been replaced but the issue keeps occurring. Customer service for the manufacturer has been contacted and a corporate technician has been involved and also an in flight recorder was temporarily installed and it provided numerous error codes but no one is seems to be capable of determining how to fix the issue or what exactly is causing it.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/04/2018

Random times on dry roads both city and rural while slowing to make turns or starting from still to make turns or slowing the trying to resume speed the esp/traction control engages. Shuts down power to car and can not accelerate for a short period of time. With high speed vehicles approaching from out of view from the side or rear this has nearly caused several collisions for me.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/08/2018

Jeep safety concern 2016 Jeep Renegade trail hawk 4wd mileage: 35. 000 our vehicle displayed check engine code (p0440). Took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced a front vacuum valve. Three days later the check engine light was back on. Brought the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer stated a pressure switch in the gas tank was the problem but the part had to be ordered. While this check engine light was on I discovered that when the electronic computer module (ecm) sees an emission code the ecm will disable the vehicles 4wd and the remote start. The remote start is not a safety concern but the 4wd is. There was a snow storm that hit the eastern seaboard and effected our area. Since my wife uses this vehicle, for several days my wife was without a vehicle during this storm. Thankfully I discovered the issue before the storm hit. This may have been devastating if this code was set while she was driving in the snow with my 3-year-old granddaughter in the vehicle. This vehicle is advertised as 4wd trail rated off road vehicle. I never have had any 4wd issue with any of these vehicles. If you're driving your vehicle inclement in weather such as snow and the ecm sees an emission issue, you lose your 4wd. Losing your 4wd on a snow-covered road can become a real safety issue. If your off road on a slippery trail and you lose your 4wd you may slide into a large tree or worse, slide off the trail. Chrysler Jeep never tells the customer this can occur but they advertise the vehicle as a trail rated off road vehicle. People that purchase Jeeps are under the impression that trail rated stamp means this vehicle is certified for use during inclement weather or for recreational use. The last thing a customer wants to find out is that the vehicle they purchased will lose the 4wd if there is a ecm code set. Lou from NY.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 01/23/2018

I decided to start the vehicle without using remote start due to extreme cold climate so I could warm it longer than remote start will allow. Let it run for about 45 minutes and go to drive off and get up to 25-30mph and it stalled and made an extremely loud noise and rough vibration that made it feel like the whole engine or transmission fell out of the vehicle. All of the lights lit up in the dashboard and I had to struggle to steer it off the street by coasting it. Proceeded to start it but wouldn't budge for a good 5-10 min until it finally started back up. Immediately took it to the dealership and they connected the diagnostic tool to it and said nothing was showing up and there was nothing they could do about it. About a month later, it happened again the exact same way, took it to the dealership and this time they said every possible error code came up and were baffled. They wanted us to leave there at the dealership for 2 weeks before they could get to it and did not offer a loaner vehicle, we had to tell them that we needed it or a loaner for commute and so we had to keep it, they finally got to it and found out it was the ecm module, something to do with the drivetrain, they replaced it and it hasn't occurred again. Since then, we have noticed more and more that the transmission has been shifting very hard making popping noises and jerking. We finally decided that something wasnt right and took it to a different dealership with a couple other things that have gone wrong with the car. We had to take it twice for them to figure out what we were talking about with the transmission. It is now scheduled for a total transmission replacement mid August, and I think it was caused by ecm module issue we had to deal with for a few months before it was taken care of. I am extremely disappointed in making a new car purchase because of all the issues we have had with it.

Takata recall there are multiple electrical problems occurring with the vehicle, along with mechanical problems and the car is used to commute to work and home. 46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/03/2017

When transitioning from a stop into traffic on a dirt or slippery road the traction control warning lights come on but the car sends no power to the any of the 4 wheels. It just stops. In order to go you have to take your foot off the gas and try again to move. Extremely dangerous when pulling into traffic.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/23/2017

When turning or veering at semi-low rates of speed (15-35 mph), traction control light flashes repeatedly and all power to accelerator is lost for about 5-10 seconds. This has repeatedly put me in extremely dangerous situations. Despite taking it to the dealership and finding many others have this same issue, dealer claims nothing is wrong and said problem was fixed after a refresh update for both computer systems. It is definitely not fixed as it happened today and I was almost t-boned in an intersection. Only has 23,120 miles on it and still under Jeep warranty. This began a month after purchase.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/13/2017

Car will not start. Push button key start. Lights on steering column light up, radio goes on car doesn't start. After multiple attempts of shutting car off and on the car delays and then kicks over. Nothing we'd up when it happened when on the e at dealer. Dealer replace a component in the push button key start. Had car back for 5 days. Happened again x 2. Dealer took car and again could not get to simulate.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/28/2017

Multiple issues since I purchased new. Dealer confirmed computer sending codes to transmission causing it to not shift properly. At times, you could not accelerate or extremely low gas mileage. On an interstate going up and down mountains with 18-wheelers, this is terrifying. All lights shutting off randomly including headlights, brakes, blinkers, dash, etc while driving down the road. The worst issue is I have had is the doors locking my child in. I put him in the vehicle as normal, when I went around to get in, all the doors had locked and would not open. The police busted a window to get him out. After confirmed he was ok, I went out to see what was going on with the vehicle. The dash was blinking a message and the locks were still acting up. After cranking, everything returned to normal.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/04/2017

On at least six different occasions while making a slow speed left turn (under 15 mph) and once while making a left u-turn (at approx. 5 mph), my 2017 Jeep Renegade experiences a loss of power and the abs warning light flashes. There is no acceleration while stepping on the gas pedal. This condition lasts approximately 3 - 5 seconds. On one occasion, the vehicle behind me nearly rear-ended me as my vehicle slowed. The dealer has explained that the vehicle is experiencing a condition that exceeds a parameter set by the software. There have been no codes "set" by these occurrences. They are a bit unnerving and a safety concern. This concern began when the Jeep had approximately 1000 miles on the odometer. I now have 6700 and the last occurrence was August 4, 2017.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/22/2017

On several occasions, my Renegade has lost power/acceleration on both left and right turns under normal driving condition and low speeds. This is concerning as I can easily be rear ended on the turn or involved in a side impact crash when turning across traffic. This is on dry, clean pavement. Going in to the dealer tomorrow but because I discovered this is a known issue I thought it best to report here.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/20/2017

The accident avoidance system will show up on the dash screen as temporarily disabled while driving down the street.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/21/2017

2nd occurrence of all the sensor lights coming on and engine simply stopping. Both times, the vehicle had been braked and was ready to accelerate when all the lights on the dash and gear shift began to flash. The first occurrence all the lights flashed and halted before it could completely cross the highway. The dealership applied all updates to the computer keeping the car overnight. The second occurrence vehicle was just towed to the dealer as unfit to drive. After resting, only the check engine light came on. Will know more after auto is checked.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/12/2017

I believe there is a problem with the electrical system with this 2016 Jeep Renegade trailhawk which I bought new in 01/07/2017. These problems below happen at random times: driving city, highway, parked. Started around 1300 miles which was around 02/12/2017; last time I picked it up from the dealer was 06/30/2017 which they had it for 10 days. Freezing cluster, rear reverse camera staying on while in drive, alarm going on and off on its own. The main safety concern I have and have been back to the dealer three times in 6,000 miles with no solutions: is the alarms of service electronic parking brake alert going on which is 90% time paired up with service airbag system alert going on, and the seatbelt warning system flashing on. Sometimes it will clear itself, other times it will clear when I stop turn the car off, and then back on. Dealer says there is no errors in the system, and it didn't happen while they had the vehicle. July 5 still going on more frequently. I called dealer twice in the last five days and I have not received a call back. I do not feel safe in my vehicle, I have personally witnessed while working on a fire engine and ambulance that air bags sometimes do not get deployed for various reasons, and the out come is sometimes not good for the passengers. I have also seen that when air bags deploy properly it can save lives. I do not trust my vehicle for the safety of my family and I. I do have all documentation from the dealership. As well as video's on my iphone of this happening.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/10/2016

On several occassions now, my Jeep Renegade has suddenly lost power /acceleration after making routine turns into traffic. The last incident was particularly scary,as I lost power while crossing traffic at an intersection and was almost t-boned by a truck in DC. I have mads an appointment with service at the dealership where purchased. After, researching,I see this has happened to other Renegade owners. This is dangerous beyond belief!!!.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. When the contact started the vehicle after filling up the fuel tank, the check engine and electronic stability control warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt; however, the failure recurred. In addition, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and the emergency brake would not release. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The dealer recommended to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles and to check the dip stick every time the vehicle was filled with fuel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,870.

59 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/11/2016

This happened 2 times today. The first occurrence happened when turning left at an intersection to merge onto a highway. At 15 mph during the (obtuse) left turn I switched the vehicle to 2nd gear and the traction control light blinked a few times while cutting power to my engine. The vehicle behind me saw this and thankfully didn't hit me. The 2nd time happened as I was taking a left into a shopping center. While stationary I started releasing the clutch while applying gas in 1st gear. The traction control light blinked a few times and cut power again while in the middle of traffic, but this time there were vehicles coming towards me. Luckily the vehicle restored power in time for me not to get t-boned. This is a good vehicle but the traction control is seriously flawed.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/17/2016

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/11/2016

For the fourth time I took my car to the service at the dealer , and for the fourth time the same problem occurred received a 'service power steering' dashboard message. . . . And the vehicle has no power steering. I have 20,000 miles on my vehicle. After I leave the car for two month in the dealer finally they call me and said my car was reedy as today March 2018 but continues with the same problem . I am of course concerned that my power steering could fail while I am driving the vehicle could cause serious accident. This happen one time already, I'm very frustrate I don't know what to do this point. If some could help me or indicate what to do thanks. Same problem here- except total loss of steering while on highway. Numerous electrical issues, 7 total since 2016, 16 days and counting in service bay and not driveable. This car is a nightmare. Dealer service they don't know how to service.

63 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

15 Renegade limited ** a few issues ***first I have had to replace front brakes and rotors 4/27/16 with 9030 miles then had to replace again 9/28/16 with 16611 miles . . . . . Second *** when driving my on highway normal speeds my vehicle will randomly act like it is neutral will not accelerate for few seconds then will work fine ( has happened 2 times to me months apart) third*** when making turns on dry roads my stabilitrak light comes on traction control blinks no acceleration happens at random a few times one time I was almost rear ended last incident happened 10/3 520pm . . . I now again hear noise when braking after driving a few miles it gets more noticeable the longer I drive . . I am feeling unsafe driving this vehicle never knowing when these issue will happen next not to mention not being able to afford replacing brakes and rotors a few thousand miles.

64 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/21/2016

After making a left turn on a dry paved road the traction control light rapidly flashed and power was lost for 5-10 seconds. Dangerous issue. Took to service shop they can not replicate.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

My traction control light will start blinking and cut my acceleration, while turning left sporadically whether at a complete stop or still moving and normally just on dry asphalt. I have had the vehicle into the dealership 3 times. The first time was for 2 days, and they said there was an update, this didn't fix the issue. The next time was 1 week later for 5 days where they drove my vehicle and advised they could only produce this incident once, and said the problem was with the abs software having the wrong download. The dealership also advised that the vehicle did not know there was a problem because there was no error code in the computer. The 3rd time was 2 days after I picked up, and the vehicle was kept for 7 days, where they drove my car all week and were not able to replicate. After having the vehicle back for 4 days it started up again, and now does it almost every day. The dealership advised there is nothing they can do, and Jeep/Chrysler were not helpful either. I have noticed now when I have another person in the front seat that the traction control will start blinking and cut the acceleration going right. I have also noticed that you have to be around 20 mph or higher around a curve for this to happen when you are not at a complete stop.

66 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/08/2016

On 3 or 4 occasions while driving my Jeep Renegade latitude 4 x 4 9 speed less than 2,000 miles. In dry conditions my Jeeps anti traction light will come on the dash, and I lose all power for 5-10 seconds. It stops, no gas . It doesnt shut off, it loses all power. Last time I was approaching a red light and slowing down, the lights changed to green, I turned on my blinker to turn left going less than 10 miles an hour and it happened in the middle of the turn with a car behind me my Jeep stopped in the middle of the street dead for 5-10 seconds. I thought I would be rear ended since it was abrupt.

67 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

The vehicles traction control light comes on during normal driving causing loss of throttle an power making you exit to shoulder or sometimes after 10 sec or so the power will return. Car does not die it just takes throttle control away while traction light flashes. This is all during normal dry conditions and normal driving. I have also seen a huge amount of this same issue on the forums. My vehicle has been in the dealership service department four times and they have no fix yet. It is very unsafe and my wife is afraid to drive her brand new Jeep. It's really ridiculous that we have to deal with all this an no one seems to care until someone gets killed because of the issues. And if this doesn't get corrected someone is going to get hurt or killed in a car accident. This problem occurs on a regular basis but it's hard to recreate on the spot so it's impossible to get the dealer to believe it is happening but if you search the web there is tons of info on this issue.

68 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

2016 Jeep Renegade traction control - while making a left hand turn the vehicle's traction control light began blinking on and off and there was loss of power/acceleration. Once the light went off the vehicle began to move again. This has happened 3 or 4 times, while turning or driving on a slight hill. The loss of power is a major safety issue as when turning, you are crossing traffic. The driving conditions were dry, smooth road.

69 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

On occasion when making either a left or right hand turn, the traction control light flashes and the engine loses power. All acceleration to the vehicle stops and will not resume until you release the gas pedal. The issue started in March of 2016 and continues till this date, 7/27/16.

70 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/21/2016

Twice now with less that 950 miles on my vehicle the vehicle the traction control has engaged on clean dry pavement, stopped at a stop signed and turned right each time and at about 5 mph the traction control engaged and engaged what seemed like a engine brake to decelerate the engine. This is a safety hazard and many people are reporting the issue on social media sites and forums for this vehicle.
