I am reporting a serious and unresolved safety defect involving a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer series ii 4x4 (VIN: [xxx] ) with approximately 34,000 miles. The vehicle has experienced repeated power steering warnings and functionality issues, and on multiple occasions (approximately three incidents) has unexpectedly shifted itself into park while actively driving. These incidents have occurred since fall 2025 and continued in January 2026 and now March 2026, demonstrating the issue is ongoing and recurring. The vehicle was in the dealership for over three weeks between January and February 2026, at which time a repair was confirmed before the most recent occurrence. Despite ongoing repairs, the issue has not been resolved and no permanent repair path has been identified. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership with no confirmed resolution. The most recent incident occurred on 3/18 when the vehicle shifted into park while in motion, requiring a restart in the roadway. Shortly after arriving at my destination, the battery died and the vehicle became inoperable and required towing. The combination of electrical issues, including power steering warnings and a dead battery, along with the vehicle unexpectedly shifting into park, creates a significant and unpredictable loss of drivability and presents a serious safety risk. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My Jeep will randomly not let me back up as it thinks there is something behind it and automatically apply the emergency brake. I brought it to dealership when it was still under warranty for this issue and they could not figure it out. My Jeep will randomly stop as it’s driving, it will still rev when I push the pedal but it will not move in reverse or drive. The automatic shut off says it needs to be serviced and does not work. The automatic emergency braking comes on randomly if I stop. I constantly get alerts that my blind spots are blocked. I’ve cleaned sensors as the dealership has recommended which doesn’t make a difference. My lift gate will only work intermittently. Sometimes it shuts on my kids. My screen only works sometimes. Which is dangerous when I don’t have access to back up camera. I currently owe $31,000 still on this vehicle and I have 5 kids. I really need this vehicle fixed as I cannot afford to get rid of it. It has been unreliable since I’ve owned it and I’m really disappointed in this Wagoneer. It’s very expensive to insure and it’s had nothing but issues. The tow bills are becoming expensive as well.

I purchased car less than 24 hours ago. Service engine light is on. Dealership ran code and say it wasn't diagnosing a problem. And engine light went off. Drove for 3 hours and then engine light came back on. When I drove the car today, I came to a stop at a stoplight and when I went to go the car would not go. Looked down and my car had been gone into emergency parking. This issue was not disclosed to me when I purchased the car.
When driving, I attempted to adjust the sun visor and the part of the visor that goes into the roof broke causing the visor to fall into my field of vision. The visor then wouldn’t stay put in either direction and just continued to hang down in the field of vision of the driver.
On two occasions now, the car will start and all other electronic screens will turn on and be normal, but the driver screen behind the steering wheel does not. We can put the car in drive and it operates normal but the screen only shows the display to "press brake and push button to start" the button icon and odometer mileage. Everything else is blank. We have no way of knowing the speed/rpm/fuel/battery/etc. I have video of it while driving and and photo when parked. I am contacting the dealership but wanted to report my concern.

While firing on the highway in the middle lane my car lost all power as soon as an engine overheating light came on. This almost caused a larger pile up as cars starting swerving all over the highway to avoid my vehicle. I was able to safely coast to the shoulder without being hurt. After getting it looked at I was told my vehicle had a faulty thermostat yet by 2024 Wagoneers VIN was not included in the batch they had put out.
Our 2023 Jeep Wagoneer overheats (indicates excessive oil temperature and low oil pressure) repeatedly (~20 times since we've owned the vehicle) under normal freeway driving causing a safety issue by creating the need to rapidly slow and exit the roadway to prevent vehicle engine failure. The issue occurs during sustained freeway driving around 60-65 mph. The car feels like it is not properly shifting to the next gear and the rpm lingers around 3000rpm - 3500rpm. After a few minutes at this sustained rpm the engine temperature gauge slowly climbs until the overheating warning light comes on and it typically followed by a low oil pressure warning. We have taken the vehicle to a Jeep dealer twice. They have tried to replicate the issue and have not been able to. We suspect that they are not driving in long enough (30-40min) to be able to replicate the issue. They also say that they are not able to pull up any error codes from the vehicle from an odb scanner. They say they can't diagnose the issue with out an error code and seam to be unwilling to explore the issue further. Most recently we've purchased our own odb scanner to try to gather any error codes because the Jeep dealer doesn't seam to want to investigate further without us gathering error codes for them. Today we drove the car for about 45min on moderately hilly terrain at around 60mph and produced three separate overheating / low oil pressure error incidents while the odb scanner was plugged in. The odb did not indicate an error code on any of the three incidents. We are frustrated because Jeep and their dealers have left us in a situation where we have a dysfunctional vehicle and seam to be unwilling to take reasonable measures to resolve the problem.
I was driving northbound on us 31 near peru, in. I stopped at a red light and my car auto shut off initiated. However when the light turned green, I beganto drive again and the car died/stalled on the highway. The emergency parking break engaged. Oncoming traffic, who saw a green light were not slowing down and I was afraid I would be rear ended while my car was stalled at a previously red, but now green light. It took multiple attempts in quick succession but I was able to restart the vehicle and continue. I was afraid myself and my kids would be hit and killed. Subsequently my car had had battery issues. Randomly the battery had drained or car will not unlock using key fob.
My 2024 Jeep Wagoneer series 2 frequently stalls while coming out of idle, such as at traffic lights. This is not the auto stop-start feature and happens whether or not auto stop-start is deactivated. Usually, after being by stopped, as I am getting ready to start moving again, the vehicle will slightly rev or try to lurch forward before stalling out. This turns the engine off, throws the car into park, and activates my e-brake. It happens before I press the accelerator so the car is not moving more than a mile or two an hour. This problem is dangerous because it creates a risk of accidents with other vehicles. When the car stalls in this way, I must confirm the car is in park, press the brake, restart the engine, deactivate the e-brake, and shift the car into drive before proceeding through the intersection. This takes a few seconds and if the driver in the car behind me isn’t paying attention and think I am starting to move, he or she could rear-end me. This problem has happened more than a dozen times (so not every time I drive but frequent enough to be a pattern). It can happen when I have been driving for a while and the engine is warm. There is no way for me to predict in advance when it will happen. It can go weeks without happening or happen twice in the same day. It does not activate any dash warnings (such as service engine light or an error code) that I can see. I have taken my car into the dealership twice for idle related issues including once for this exact problem. The last time, the dealership found misfires on all cylinders, both catalytic converters coming apart from the inside and 02 sensors that had melted from overheating. The dealership replaced all of this. My vehicle still stalled on the way home from the dealership. This time, I detected a strong rubber or plastic burning odor when I got home. The vehicle has less than 12,000 miles on it and was bought new less than a year ago. I attach last repair invoice.
I took my vehicle to an authorized dealership for an active safety recall. The dealership documented the recall as incompleted and did not perform the required repair. No explantation, repair, or reasonable timeframe was provided. The vehicle remains unrepaired despite the recall being federally mandated and required to be completed at no cost. This situation puts vehicle occupants at potential safety risk due to an unresolved safety recall. I am reporting the dealership's failure to complete the recall as required by law.
At a busy intersection the vehicle failed to restart on the automatic start/stop did not restart the vehicle. After getting the vehicle restarted it the ebrake activated mid way through the intersection. This occurred after the dealer applied an update to fix the issue. This was worse than the first incident as the brake was applied after the vehicle started to move after getting it restarted.
Safety recall for quarter window trim detaching from vehicle. Passenger side visor dropping down with wires disconnect while driving. This recall and visor needs repaired ASAP.
At a busy intersection the vehicle failed to restart on the automatic start/stop function. The vehicle behind almost hit us as the brake lights turned off when the pedal was released.
The car vibrates when it drives over 65-70 mph. Passengers feel car sick. Many Wagoneer drivers experience the same problem, but there is no remedy.
On September 4th, 2025, my wife and I purchased a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer series ii bearing VIN number [xxx] being sold by carvana. On September 23rd, 2025, the Jeep Wagoneer was delivered to our residence by carvana. The carvana employees unloaded the Jeep Wagoneer from their tow truck and then parked the Wagoneer in our driveway. After the carvana employees departed with our Ford explorer, my wife and I decided to take the Wagoneer for a drive. We loaded our three children into the vehicle and my wife drove, while I remained in the front passenger seat. We traveled approximately one block away from our residence when we came to a stop at a stop sign and the Wagoneer turned off its ignition on its own and put itself into park. We were on a slight incline and the vehicle began to roll backwards under no power, but due to the incline. To prevent this, my wife pressed the brake pedal and the vehicle ceased moving. The only way we were to get the ignition running again was to restart the vehicle by pressing the ignition push-button. The vehicle restarted and there were two error messages that appeared on the instrument cluster. The first message indicated that the start/stop system was unavailable. The second error message indicated that the hood was open. We left the stop sign, in an attempt to return to our residence, where the mechanical failure occurred and then came to a traffic signal that was red on u. S. Highway 11, in three lanes of traffic. We came to a stop and the same mechanical error occurred yet again with the Wagoneer turning itself off and shifting itself into park. My wife restarted the ignition and the same two error messages appeared on the instrument cluster. This time the “check engine” light came on. We also determine there to be heavy thumping in the brake pedal when pressing the brakes. During this first drive in the Wagoneer, my wife adjusted the rear-view mirror and the rear-view mirror fell right off the windshield. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5.
Display has constant screen glitching.
The passenger back door unlocked and slightly open.
Vehicle on 4 occasions resulting in 2 transmission replacements, has a transmission control module malfunction resulting in the vehicle unable to shift out of 1st gear. Note this happens while driving. This is a huge safety issue that the manufacturer is refusing to acknowledge.
This morning at approximately 5:30 am on my way to work on highway 69 bridge in tuscaloosa, alabama my sunroof spontaneously exploded. No foreign objects hit my vehicle. At the time of the event, I thought my car had been shot or a tire exploded as it was very loud. I have spoken with the dealership and was informed that “they have never heard of any such thing”. I spoke with my insurance company, who informed me that spontaneously exploding sunroofs have been reported frequently lately. The dealership states that there is no recall, and my vehicle is out of warranty, so they are not held liable for any such event. Fortunately, I am able to file this on my insurance however, I feel that this is a manufacturer defect and should be covered by the manufacturer regardless of warranty as this is a safety risk.
While driving on the interstate, the vehicle continuously bounces, shakes, and vibrates, making it difficult to maintain safe control. The issue occurs at highway speeds and creates concern for both safety and drivability.

The thermostat failed, causing the vehicle to overheat and die on a us highway with multiple passengers inside. The vehicle subsequently needed to be towed to the dealer for service. This is a known issue but Jeep has not issued a recall. There is a customer satisfaction campaign (csn 26b) in regard to thermostat failure, but this VIN has not been included, despite having the same engine/year known to have a defective thermostat. The overheating was a safety issue that came on suddenly and stranded the driver and passengers away from home. The warning light for engine temperature came on within a minute of the engine shutting down leaving little time to park safely along the highway.
While driving at highway speeds, the Jeep suddenly downshifted, revved up a ton, and threw overheat and low oil warnings. The head gasket likely almost blew, we were very close to losing control of the vehicle. After googling, I discovered that this is a problem that Jeep is aware dozens of reports online over the last two years, and the dealerships have been buying them back and claiming it's just a thermostat problem rather than issuing a recall for what is obviously a very serious design flaw and safety issue.
The first incident occurred when the passengers side sun visor bracket broke loose. This was not a major incident as it did not affect the driver. The second incident occurred when the drivers side sun visor bracket broke when my wife was driving. The visor fell in front of my wife and was dangling by the wires. It almost caused her to hit another vehicle as it was right in front of her and she was trying to move it out of the way. With both visors breaking, this appears to be a defect in the design that could cause a major crash if it broke at the wrong time.
Leaving for work this morning and reversed out of parking spot, tried to pull out onto a busy road and almost died. The car just kinda rolled forward a bit and would not accelerate or do anything! the ignition switch was blinking. I could not reverse or go forward or put it in park, the gear shifter lights were all blinking as well. I couldn’t shut the car off to restart it. I could not change gears or go anywhere but sit in the middle of an intersection with cars approaching me at a high rate of speed. It took approx 2 min for the car to do anything. It finally allowed me to shut it off and restart. Check engine light on. I reversed back into the parking lot I had exited from and drove it around to make sure I could accelerate onto this road where people do 70mph. I’m extremely lucky I did not get t-boned. I have read about this issue escalating to the car having this problem and told my dealership about this when I was having the check engine light issues mentioned below. I really do not feel safe in this car now after getting stuck in an intersection. Prior issue with Wagoneer, it’s been to the dealership at least 4x for this: bumps you back into park when you try to reverse and then the check engine light comes on. I have to shut the car off, open my door, restart, and then it’ll go into gear and check engine light remains on until I bring it in or sometimes after driving a bit it goes off itself. There was some known issue with possible problems with the transmission regulator valve so they switched that out and said that should take care of the issue. But check engine light on again. It now progressed into being completely disabled at an intersection today.
The Wagoneer while driving twice has shut off, gone into park, and emergency break turned on. The problem is shutting off on its own while driving. This could cause a wreck obviously if happens at a higher rate of speed. Thankfully both times I was at about 5-10mph and nobody was behind me.
While driving, coming to a stop & starting from full stop at lights, car shut itself down. After 6 separate events it happened whislt in motion. Exvept this time it engaged the e break, park break, killed power steering, locked the steering wheel, reset all systems and put itself in park. All while travelling at 25mph. The vehicle jacknifed and bodilly injury sustained by driver.
Auto was being towed by my RV. Frame rail extension welds on vehicle failed and vehicle broke loose and struck utility pole destroying it. Could have hit oncoming traffic or innocent bystanders. Vehicle being inspected by Chrysler third party inspectors and state farm insurance. I believe “cold welds” to be responsible in a critical frame part. There are several hundred of these vehicles being towed “four down” and pose a serious public risk. Vehicle is available for inspection at this time. There were no warning lamps.
While sitting at a stop light my vehicle started malfunctioning and put itself into park. Several different warnings came across the screen and I was unable to change gears or start my car for a while. Finally my car allowed me to push the break and restart the vehicle. A warning light came on with an “a!” but then was no longer on the screen once I turned my vehicle off and back on.
With less than 500 miles on the vehicle, while stopped at a stoplight, the vehicle automatically shifted from drive to park and had to be restarted in order to accelerate forward. Check engine light also came on. When stopped at the same light again moments later, the same thing occurred. These events happened within a couple minutes of each other. Vehicle would not accelerate until restarted. Took vehicle to get serviced, the next day within minutes after leaving the dealership and servicing, the check engine light came on after accelerating at a stop light with the same engine error codes.
On the highway and interstate highway, during stop in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle randomly automatically shifts into park and apply the parking brakes when attempting to accelerate from standstill. This only happens when you try to move again after stopping, and the vehicle is shifted into park in the most inopportune times. It requires you not only to shift it back to drive with your right hand, and reaching under the dash with your left hand to release the parking brake. When task saturated during an emergency it is highly likely to cause an accident, such as turning left onto a divided country highway while the car is temporally stopped between the two highways. No dealership involvement yet. This occurs randomly, and I have not been able to find a way to replicate it at will. This has occurred more than a dozen of times. Warning light on the dash stating shifting the car into park, and audible beep. Dangerous because it occurs randomly on a highway. Unsure if it's related to automatic engine stopping, or adaptive cruise control.
Vehicle was in motion the battery indicator and service engine light displayed. Additional warnings for other components (e. G. Lane assist, brakes, battery power saver etc. ) displayed, stopped at an intersection, applied acceleration and vehicle shut off, put itself into park, became disabled and would not restart. No power to restart or to power road hazard flashers. Complete shutdown of vehicle. Vehicle neutral override was finally discovered to get it moved to a safe location off the roadway and prior to having it towed to dealership for further investigation into cause.
Vehicle has now put itself into park and applied the parking brake while moving 3 times and requiring restart to move. Dealer and manufacturer unconcerned because they cannot duplicate. But it’s had numerous other issues too.
Incident: was pulling up to a gated entrance waiting on gate to open, then as I pressed the gas to go, the engine shut off and lights appeared on dash in yellow- the auto shut off with an exclamation point, check engine light, traction control light, and the throttle control light was in red. The car was then cranked back up and pulled into parking space but did not move as it should it was slow. Turned car off again and this time it was very slow to crank. Once it was cranked, the car had a noticeable shake to the vehicle. Prior to incident, no issues or lights were on the dash. Car was tested by local mechanic and had the following codes appear on diagnostic test: p1414 cylinder 4 reactivation control performance, p032f combustion engine producing insufficient torque; p2172 high airflow/vacuum leak detected this happened one previous time pulling away from a stop light several months ago (again at a slow speed-car shut off and auto shut off light appeared). Did not report or document as I was able to get car cranked back up immediately and continue driving with no issues at that time.
Vibrations in steering and seating despite multiple balancing attempts and new tires.
There is a major design issue with the front end of this truck. There is a problem with the front end that causes major outside tire wear. I had put about 7000 miles on the truck since I had it. The truck came with brand new tires and I had the steel belt showing and only noticed this when I washed the truck my self. I brought it to the dealership to get it looked at but they said they can’t find any reason for this. If you look at a lot of on-line forums you can see this is a major problem I’m not sure if it is the auto adjusting air ride suspension or just an issue with the front drive axel. The tires would have blown out when driving with my family if I didn’t notice this when I did.
