I am reporting a serious and unresolved safety defect involving a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer series ii 4x4 (VIN: [xxx] ) with approximately 34,000 miles. The vehicle has experienced repeated power steering warnings and functionality issues, and on multiple occasions (approximately three incidents) has unexpectedly shifted itself into park while actively driving. These incidents have occurred since fall 2025 and continued in January 2026 and now March 2026, demonstrating the issue is ongoing and recurring. The vehicle was in the dealership for over three weeks between January and February 2026, at which time a repair was confirmed before the most recent occurrence. Despite ongoing repairs, the issue has not been resolved and no permanent repair path has been identified. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership with no confirmed resolution. The most recent incident occurred on 3/18 when the vehicle shifted into park while in motion, requiring a restart in the roadway. Shortly after arriving at my destination, the battery died and the vehicle became inoperable and required towing. The combination of electrical issues, including power steering warnings and a dead battery, along with the vehicle unexpectedly shifting into park, creates a significant and unpredictable loss of drivability and presents a serious safety risk. Over the last month, twice this has happened. When I turn, either direction it feels like the back wheels lock up. Rub. Drag. Took it to the dealer, and they can't get it to replicate the issue. . Something is clearly wrong. Google states alot of 2022-2024 Wagoneer have documented similar issues. It does not consistently happen. But it happened twice since end of January. Matter of fact, since I had it serviced last.
This is the 3rd time the Jeep wagooner has "bricked up. " the vehicle will shut off without notice and lose all power, the emergency brake comes on and stops vehicle abruptly. This poses safety risk to driver passengers and surrounding vehicles. The car will not be able to be restarted for 30 secs. Once car is restarted, dash lights flash everywhere and car loses power steering. This happen 1st time 2 weeks after I bought a brand new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer. I took it to dealer and they told me it was defective battery. They replaced battery, it has now done it two more times. I took it to dealer again and they once again claim it was defective battery again. 2 defective batteries in 18 mos of new car? there is something else going on w/electrical system in this car that drains batteries and abruptly shuts off vehicle.
When driving the car this winter, noticed the smell of something burning. After that, the heated steering wheel stopped warming. Took it to a repair shop since there was open no recall related to this. Repair shop diagnosis: - heated steering wheel not working due to electrical short. More info below, pictures included. Finding confirmed customer concern. Attempted to activate the heated steering wheel and found the light to come on for roughly 4-5 seconds then shut itself off. Scanned the vehicle and found 2 fault pertaining to the heating element and steering wheel having an open circuit. Removed the airbag and visually inspected all connectors for the steering wheel. Found the 2 pin connector from the steering wheel to the clock spring to be stuck in the clock spring. Further removed the steering wheel and trim pieces around the steering column and visually inspected the clock spring. Found the 2 pin connector between the steering wheel and the clock spring to be melted together and noticed the wires were getting hot to touch when activating the heated steering wheel. Back probed the connector between the clock spring and the heated steering wheel connector and found less than 2 volts present. Monitored and found while the steering wheel was being moved left to right the voltage would fluctuate dramatically. Recommend replacing the air bag clock spring and steering wheel due to melt damage and further monitor voltage and functionality of the heated steering wheel and other accessories. Highly recommend not operating the heated steering wheel until repairs have been made. Could cause more damage to the surrounding components.

During normal driving in temperatures below approximately 20–27°f, the vehicle began losing electrical charge as indicated by the malfunction indicator light (mil) and battery warning message. While my wife was attempting to return home, multiple vehicle systems progressively shut down, including electric power steering, abs, auto-leveling suspension, and lane departure assistance. As she was pulling into our driveway, the vehicle completely shut off, resulting in total loss of propulsion and power steering. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. This was the second occurrence of this failure. A third incident occurred the following day under similar temperature conditions. During that event, mil and battery warnings appeared again during normal driving. She was able to reach our driveway before complete shutdown occurred. On the most recent incident, the following diagnostic trouble codes were present: p0eec, p1618, p0008, and u0111. These are the same codes that were recorded during the previous two incidents. After the first two failures, kernersville Dodge stated the issue had been repaired and charged us for the repairs. The same failure condition has now reoccurred. This failure results in sudden loss of propulsion and loss of power steering while driving, creating a significant safety hazard.
While approaching a stop sign at a speed of less than 10mph with my wife and three small children in the car, the engine shut off and the steering/braking became degraded. I was able to restart the car after stopping, but the auto start / etorque does not appear to be working any more. I will be dropping the car off for diagnostics, but after some research this appears to be a common issue which is already under investigation.
I was driving down the road at 35 mph when the service electric power steering (eps) message on instrument cluster came on. Then when I stopped the brakes were hard to deploy. I tried to reset it by turning it off and on. I had just replaced the backup batter several months back so I don't think that is it. I called the dealership and told them I talked to stellantis and they gave me the star online publication case number s2523000053 rev a. On how to fix it. They said it would be several days and I would need to have it towed on my own. This a systemic problem with these vehicles I have had to pay for a recall because they said it didn't to apply to a canadian vehicle even though it was made in detroit. I bought it with a few thousand miles on it and have had nothing but trouble with it and a dealership that always says I would have to pay since it was canadian. Either the screen is going black or some kind of warning on the dash it seems like every other month.
Truck has multiple electrical issues like the auto emergency braking, braking on its own had to turn feature off and now the power steering system, the steering wheel got stiff and truck turn off multiple times. Power steering light comes on then goes away after sitting off for a while.

While driving I lost all power steering and the lane departure lights and power steering alarms came on.
Abs and stability control lights came on and I immediately lost braking pressure within 100 yards of warning lights and could not stop the vehicle and drove through a stop light. Fortunately there were no cars in the intersection. I also have had steering warning light as well as engine warning light. My Wagoneer’s engine stumbled and put itself in park at a stop light in another issue with the vehicle. The loss of braking force is most concerning safety issue to me. My car is only 4 days old and has already had numerous issues.

The car randomly loses communication with power steering module and locks the steering column. This car has been in shop 6 times for it happening. Creates very unsafe situation as I’m unable to steer car to safety.
In June of 2024 the engine hot and oil pressure low light came on in the middle of a busy intersection and the car went limp had to get it towed to dealer. They replaced engine thermostat. March 18, 2025 was driving down interstate at 80 mph when wheel locked up and brakes. The power steering and brake light came on with a red exclamation point and I was unable to barely move the wheel and had to continue another mile until highway exit. If the highway curbed could have been deadly. Towed it to Jeep and they said upon checking it all looks good. Now I’m suppose to drive my five kids around and hope that never happens again with no explanation from dealer on what exactly caused it.
Immediately after getting off of the expressway on the drive to work, there is a stop light at the intersection of city streets. While sitting at the stop light, foot on the brake, the vehicle stopped running, the brake pedal went to the floor, and the service power steering warning screen was flashing and chiming. I immediately put my hazard lights on to warn oncoming traffic that I wouldn't be proceeding, because at that point the light changed to green and people behind me were letting off their brakes and rolling forward. After about 45 seconds to 1 minute, the vehicle showed a screen that said to place foot on brake and press ignition to start the vehicle. I was able to start the vehicle again, but the power steering warning light was still on. I had the vehicle towed from the street parking near my job. If the incident had happened 45 seconds prior, I'd have been still on the expressway in heavy rush hour traffic and would have been hit if my vehicle came to a dead stop or lost brake or steering control with no prior warning. The vehicle had just been serviced 2 weeks prior for thermostat failure and stalling, leaving me in an intersection. The latent defects presenting themselves on this vehicle are creating a multitude of near miss safety issues that are being minimized by stellantis and their "customer care" representatives.
While driving vehicle. Vehicle shut off and completely was drained of all power in the middle of the road.
Car begins to wobble very violently when going over 65. This has been ongoing for a while now and when I took it to the Jeep dealership they said it was just my tires. The problem is worse now and I feel unsafe driving my vehicle. I also was never called back for my recalls to be taken care of.
Vehicle vibrates and bounces at high speeds keep bringing to dealer who can't repair. Makes it hard to control at higher speeds.
In December 2024 I received a check engine light with a locked code that disappeared after a short distance. The vehicle would not auto start from the key and we thought it was a battery . In February 2025 while on a trip I received a warning light for power steering fluid we went to a parts store and topped up the power steering fluid . On [xxx] I was driving the vehicle at 55mph while I had my [xxx] and [xxx] in the car as well as heavily pregnant along with my [xxx] grandmother . I pulled away from a traffic light and the dash board lights lit up completely check engine, stability, abs, emergency brake ,traction ,crash detection . I went to use the brakes and to change lanes and while doing so I lost brakes and power steering causing me to have to use a grass verge to bring the vehicle to a stop as the brake pedal was to the floor and the emergency brake was not engaging even though the light was lit on the dash. Had I not pulled into grass to stop I would have been in a catastrophic accident. I took the vehicle to 2 Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram dealerships who could not fix the vehicle so took it to a 3rd dealership who were able to get brakes and power steering back into the vehicle . Upon trying to pick up the vehicle within 24 - 48 hours I received a check engine light for brake pressure sensor the dealership have opened 6 star cases with Jeep regarding this issue and just keep storing the code and returning the vehicle to me. When I take the vehicle to a auto zone or advance parts store with a check engine light the code is stored 4+ times with a red banner advising customer to not drive vehicle due to possible brake failure . I am 4 months into not having my vehicle and still have a check engine light for brake pressure sensor which has now been changed 4 times as well as the whole brake system. Jeep are not assisting with anything other than keep telling the dealership to change the pressure sensor and re bleed the brake system. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.
Driving vehicle home on main highway at 55mph, had been driving for about 15 miles. Vehicle completely shut down. Engine shut off, power steering failed, lights shut off, everything electric shut down. Was unable to steer the vehicle to the shoulder and it rolled to a stop in the middle of the 2 lane road in the dark. Once it stopped it locked into park and couldnt be pushed off the road. Hazard lights would not work either car was completely blacked out in the middle of the road, and would not restart. Car behind us saw us in time and stopped and turned on their hazard lights till the fire department arrived to flag traffic. Towed vehicle to dealership. At dealership the next day the vehicle started like nothing was wrong, showed no codes. Dealership kept vehicle for 10 days and couldnt get the vehicle to duplicate the incident. They drove the car almost 100 mile and found nothing.
I have had extensive issues with the 2022 Wagoneer series iii. Battery has failed, leather seats show wear and signs of peeling after 2 years, main car display blacks out repeatedly, moon roof rattles, heated seats have gone out twice in front seats and needed to be replaced, the list goes on. Most recently, the power steering went out while I was driving. I called the dealership and they told me it was likely a fluke and to keep driving it. 4 days later, an automatic update was installed and now the forward collision warning light is on. I don't know whether the collision system will work or not - can't test it, obviously. My safety is obviously at risk. Power steering stops mid-drive. Anti-collision system errors out. These most recent issues started on November 1, 2024.
Our problems started with getting a message that said "check user manual for proper fuel and oil" when we accelerated. We just thought that was a warning sign, discussed this with the car dealership, and we were indeed using the correct fuel. When on the interstate going 70mph the car started rocking back and forth with the check engine light turned on. Took it to the dealership and they said it was computer updates, whichever helped for a couple months and then we continued to get the same message. Throughout our entire year and a 1/2 having the car, our tailgate has managed to fail four times now. The trunk has opened while driving, having stuff fall on the highway. We have gotten stuck places with the trunk not being able to shut. While driving on the highway, the power steering light turned on and the wheel locked up, I had to coast off the road at a corner. We are at the point where we are now 5000 miles over our warranty, driving down the highway once again, and the car started overheating. It said the the oil temp was low, and the coolant temp was high, but had the proper amount of coolant and oil in the car just even had the oil changed. We let the car cool down and luckily were luckily we were a couple blocks from the dealership. Drove a little further and the car overheated again, so my husband literally pushed the car where I coasted down the road to the parking spot. Over the year and a half we have also had the ac fail multiple times along with the back up camera. Also, one morning woke up to the car being dead, no lights were left on. Dealership is being very shady. I told them we will be looking into a lawyer and now they won't give me any documentation about my car. They said it's a faulty thermostat and the engine possibly could be bad but they won't know until the thermostat is fixed. Car back latch is also failing again while it sits at the dealership. I refuse to pay for this car. It's not safe. Complete piece of crap.
Vehicle lost brakes for the second time while driving and also lost power steering. Vehicle was serviced at dealership after first incident and was supposedly fixed by replacing the battery. It was obviously not fixed since it happened again 12 days later. Both times the vehicle randomly, and with no warning, lost braking ability and power steering.
There is a major design issue with the front end of this truck. There is a problem with the front end that causes major outside tire wear. I had put about 7000 miles on the truck since I had it. The truck came with brand new tires and I had the steel belt showing and only noticed this when I washed the truck my self. I brought it to the dealership to get it looked at but they said they can’t find any reason for this. If you look at a lot of on-line forums you can see this is a major problem I’m not sure if it is the auto adjusting air ride suspension or just an issue with the front drive axel. The tires would have blown out when driving with my family if I didn’t notice this when I did.
I was driving 35mph and my breaks and steering were not working. The car started to rattle and in order to stop the car I had to start pumping on the breaks as hard as I could and have it slow down but I had no steering control. I was luckily close to my house without turns so pulled over to my driveway by pumping the breaks and screaming for a neighbor to help me not hit other cars on the road. The week prior I had brought my car in for a recall for the electric side board that comes down when the doors are open to step into the car. It was a recall then they said I already had that looked at when I brought it in last year for recalls and so this time I would have to pay 1400 for the motor and I was told by the mechanic the electric issues would continue to arise now and to get rid of this car.
Vehicle has had a noticeable vibration at highway speeds of 75-80 mph through the entire steering and front end, seemingly resulting in dangerous tire wear (to the point of being bald on the outside edges of front tires. ) problem has been evident since new. It has had tires replaced, been aligned by multiple dealers and had tires road force balanced, however nothing has improved. Vehicle does not feel secure at highway speeds, and tire wear dangerously impedes traction.
My car recently hit 10k miles. We had a safe trip to florida the week before no issues or signs of any issue. Two days ago I take my son to the pool at my mother in laws house and go to visit my parents and when I start to leave and pull out of the driveway my car stops and my steering wheel won’t turn but a certain amount. So I had to pull back and try multiple times. Every time I turn the wheel a certain amount it starts to sound like something is slowly cracking under the car. And the car just stops moving if you try to turn the wheel too much. I continue on my way home in canton, GA from woodstock, GA which is about a thirty minute drive and I have to take wide turns in order to make any turn and not get stuck or stopped. Vehicle works fine going straight but I literally cannot turn my wheel to a certain point or the car stops. It is at the dealership now and they can’t make it do the same thing day after they get into it but I sent them videos as it was happening because my neighbors had to help me park it in my driveway when I got home so I got it on recording how it stops and doesn’t turn properly. I have videos I can provide it will not let me upload.
On April 4, 2024 while driving southbound on I-95 in connecticut between exit 3 and 2 in greenwich, all of the dashboard warning indicators lit up, and the brakes failed. I was able to slow to a stop avoiding hitting other vehicles, and moved to the shoulder. I turned the vehicle on and off several times, but couldn’t get the lights to go off. The car was towed to the dealership. This is not the first incident with this vehicle, prior incidents related to electrical issues with heated seats, faulty electrical equipment in the screens, and a rain leak through the microphone in the roof. The vehicle is unsafe to drive. I have children, and I now fear for their safety in this car.
2023 Jeep Wagoneer steering wheel became locked with alerts on the dashboard "power steering unavailable service required. " thank god I parked in a parking lot when I went food shopping. This has happened twice before to my wife in the garage but no alerts came out. I spent two hours stuck and 1 hour waiting for a tow truck. It was a cold day and after the heat to the seats and steering were on, the steering became soft and I was able to steer the car home. I took car to dealership the next day and they gave me a loaner. Two days later I went to the dealership to find out what is going on. They said it may be up to six weeks to get a part. As per the rep who I know very well, she said there have been 59 reports across us and there are only 19 parts available. It is a module issue but it is built into the steering wheel column. . The 2022 Wagoneer (first model of vehicle) we own has had several issues dating back to purchase in 04/2022. The original battery died in 08/2022 when the car had ~3000 miles. The electrical system was to blame in draining the battery dealer said. Dashboard lit up and shut on and off. The dealership ‘repaired’ with new battery. Other various issues with seats and electrical malfunctions have taken place both before/after that. But last night, about 20-30 minutes into a drive, the check engine and battery lights came on. A couple mins later, the ac and volume didn’t work and then the dash lit up with over 10 buttons. At this point, I was attempting to pull over, but I was on a busy road with no where to go. A couple minutes later, the dash starting flashing on and off. At this point, the steering wheel locked up, the brakes no longer worked and the whole car dash and video screen was dark. I was going 65mph at the time with by 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter. I could not move the wheel and had no brakes as we were entering bend in road and semi truck coming at us. I had to make a decision to either run car off road into a field or house or try to jerk wheel. It took all my strength to turn wheel and avoid the semi truck. We escaped a major wreck or death by a matter of inches. Worrisome and scary to say the least. Fortunately after that turn, the road straightened out and I drove until car ran out of speed. Once it stopped (thankfully there were no people or stopped cars or traffic lights when we didn’t have brakes or steering), the car went into park. Flashers didn’t work. This is a reoccurring problem on my car and we have friends who also had a 2022 Wagoneer and the exact same thing happened to them and they avoided disaster too. There is obviously a problem and I cannot drive that car ever again and cannot put my kids back in that car. Also, it took 4 hours for a tow truck to arrive as Jeep didn’t seem to help much. We narrowly escaped death.
While driving, around 30 mph the steering wheel locked up and all the driver safety items such as traction control, breaking lane assist, power steering simultaneously disengaged on the car. I almost hit another car also turning head on.
Vehicle has alignment issues and ruining tires in 2000 miles. Problem started at around 25,000 miles and now at 32,000 miles. And has been at the dealer for over 2 months waiting on Wagoneer engineering to figure it out. 2 dealers and Wagoneer blame the issue on the tires and not addressing the issue and saying alignment is fine yet the print out shows red indicating out of alignment, independent has confirmed there is a problem with the alignment. Vehicle has also developed a shake/vibration while driving and is making it hard to drive causing fatigue. I replaced the tires at a dealer and after 2000 miles they are ruined and they are not standing behind the warranty they stated.
On two occasions, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer series ii completely shut down and locked up while driving at speed. The steering wheel locked, the brakes wouldn't work and the engine and all electrical components went offline. In both cases, the vehicle was uncontrollable as it grinded eventually to a stop. The first occasion put us in a ditch. The second occasion nearly hit a construction worker. Children were onboard both times. After the first incident, we were able to get the vehicle to start again after a couple of hours. With all warning lights on we drive it slowly back to the dealership. They were unable to reproduce the problem and said that it needed a lot of software updates which they performed. Four months later it happened again. This time it could not be started and it was towed to the dealership who also has not been able to get it to come online. Less concerning from a safety standpoint is that it occasionally won't wake up after being parked. Sometimes opening the hood and slamming it shut gets it to wake up.
Severe outside tire wear on front tires and vibration at interstate speeds. Multiple cases on the forums which no one can get resolved. Unacceptable. Results in bald tires in as little as 10000 miles. See picture and links to forums. Stellantis should really recall or TSB this issue, especially on a high end vehicle. We need consumer protection from the government on these lemons. Three posts below, but there are many more threads if you look on the forum. The power steering quit working and the service lane departure light came on. The 4 wheel drive will sometimes come on for no reason.
At two thousand miles the power steering went dead. Limped it home as I was told it would be difficult to drive but not unmanageable. Once I drove 35 miles home the dealership said bring it in and we can get you a loaner. On driving to the dealership the power steering turned on for half a second. Luckily wasn’t applying a ton of force to turn the wheel and it just made me swerve half way in the ditch. Had I been going fast we would of been upside down in the ditch or worse.
