Brake Master Cylinder problems of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Three problems related to brake master cylinder have been reported for the 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2001

While driving 30 mph applied brakes, pedal went to floor, no braking action. No accident. Dealer replaced brake booster/ master cylinder.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2000

Consumer put vehicle in drive & it went into reverse. Dealer replaced the master cylinger because while braking pedal went to floor, consumer later heard a noise while braking, dealer lubricated and adjusted rear drums. Rear glass was chipped and was replaced.

3 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2000

When consumer applies brake pedal it goes all the way down to the floor. Brakes wouldn't hold. Consumer has to use emergency brakes in order to stop. The brake failed due to defective brake cylinder. The owner says the rear glass is also defective as well as the tire, which was replaced.
