Wheel problem #1

Vehicle engine light came on after driving from carlot- after 50 miles. Meineke- diagnosed report stated, -O2 sensors & catalytic converter needed replacement. Two of tires had a patched over hole. The other two tires had inner bar wears &vehicle needed a steering box.

Wheel problem #2

My Jeep is experiencing the "death wobble". It almost turned over on I-85 outside of atlanta. My daughter was driving at 55mph and there was a small dip in the road. The Jeep began to shake uncontrollably. She could hardly control the steering wheel or the Jeep. We were finally able to slow down enough (almost rear ended twice) and pull over. This is not isolated. We had the Jeep in for repairs before and everything listed for repair of the death wobble replaced. It is doing it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you need to recall these Jeeps and make Chrysler fix them before someone like my 23 year old dies!!!!!!!!!!!!1.

Wheel problem #3

All 5 studs sheered off from the drivers side rear tire.

Wheel problem #4

Jeep death wobble in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. No rhyme or reason, car will begin to violently shake between 45 - 65 mph. I have to completely stop and pull car to side of road in order to make this stop. Incredibly scary and dangerous. Have gone to to dealership and everyone has a different opinion all of which are unbelievable in cost when it comes to safety.

Wheel problem #5

Death wobble at high speeds feels like Jeep is falling apart.

Wheel problem #6

The right front brake hose between the frame mount and the connecting point on the brake cylinder, blew out at the snap connection end. This resulted in complete loss of all hydraulic braking ability. The cause of the breakage was due to the brake hose rubbing against the inner tire wall whenever the tires were turned to the full stop position of left or right direction. Both ( right and left ) break hoses rub the inside of the tires. Had I been driving at the time, there is no doubt that an accident would have occurred possibly causing injury or even death to people. As it was, the line blew when I stepped on the brake to shift into gear. I was in a parking lot. I do have pictures available plus the damaged part for review.

Wheel problem #7

I have had the "death wobble" since I purchased my Jeep. This happened on both stock suspension and modified suspension and so far, it has happened easily well over 160 times over the course of this last year (I lost count as it happens fequently). I've dished out well over $1,000 to fix (so far), have had two accidents (Nov. 2, 2014 and Apr. 14, 2015, both minor with no police reports made either time) as a direct result of this, countless near misses, many a drink spilled on the floor board or myself then the floor thanks to either the gut-wrenching wobble itself, or having to slam on the breaks. Even more unsafe, is that everytime it happens, the only way to regain control of the vehicle is to stop immediately or risk further damage and/or losing control. This means having to slam on the breaks many times at highway speeds and hope that 1. ) I'm actually driving as my fiancé wouldn't have the strength to keep control 2. ) I maintain enough control to guide the Jeep to an emergency lane so I can stop safely. 3. ) hope that other drivers are paying attention and don't hit me. This is rediculous, and the more it happens, the less safe I feel, and the more risk that myself and my family are placed in. Jeep has a typical responses of, "we don't know what's wrong. ", "there's nothing we can do. ", "we are aware of the problem, but cannot offer a remidy. ", or "let's replace this. Sorry it didn't help. Let's try this. Yes, we understand it didn't work, but we still had to replace it, so you still have to pay. " plain rediculous, and what's more concerning is that this is a known problem that they refuse to address it. Please help!.

Wheel problem #8

After driving (between 45 mph and 55 mph) over a series of small bumps in the road (paved highway), I experienced (and am now continuing to experience, on a more frequent basis) a very dramatic, violent, terrifying, and nearly uncontrollable shaking of my entire vehicle (2007 Jeep Wrangler) which I have recently learned online (from reading countless reports from other Jeep Wrangler drivers experiencing the same terrifying event) is being called the dreaded Jeep "death wobble" (appropriately named as one rightly feels as though the driver of and passengers within vehicle could possibly suffer a tragic and life-ending accident resulting from this obvious very serious vehicle malfunction). As a loyal Jeep customer and owner over the past 3 decades (having my vehicles regularly serviced as recommended at their authorized Chrysler/Jeep locations), I immediately reported this matter to Chrysler/Jeep corporation and after asking if a recall has been issued, was told "no" and that none was being considered. In absolute amazement (and disgust), I advised Chrysler/Jeep that such inaction by Chrysler/Jeep would not only place its vehicle owners at great personal risk (accident and possibly even death from resulting accidents), but could also subject Chrysler/Jeep to legal action such as class action suits being filed nationwide by each state's attorneys general's offices. Please kindly fully investigate and take immediate corrective action to require Chrysler/Jeep to fully address and correct this unsafe, terrifying (and possibly even life-threatening) matter. Thank you.

Wheel problem #9

Was driving in normal road and weather conditions on I-680. Vehicle started violently shaking side to side, the steering wheel was shaking out of control. I was in extremely heavy traffic and had to slow down to about 30 mph for the shaking to stop. This is the third time this has happened since the first of the year. I took the vehicle for repair after the second incident to have steering parts replaced, but it did not remedy the incident. I am extremely scared to drive the vehicle - especially with my wife and three kids.

Wheel problem #10

Was driving down highway at 55 mph when the vehicle all the sudden started shaking violently. The steering wheel was shaking out of control, the front wheels were rapidly going back and forth. I had no control over the vehicle and nearly went off the road. I had to slow the vehicle down, in traffic, to about 35 before the shaking stopped. About 5 miles later down the road it happened again. I once again had to slow the vehicle down to stop the issue. The weather conditions were normal, the road conditions were good. After the incident, I took the vehicle to a repair shop and had some steering parts replaced.

Wheel problem #11

I was driving on a 4 lane highway at 60mph when the car started vibrating so violently I thought I had lost a wheel. I could barely control the car and was surrounded by 18 wheelers. I was horrified. I pulled onto the shoulder and got out expecting to see a flat tire but everything looked fine. I got back in and drove down the road only to have it happen again when I went over 55mph. I called emergency service and had it towed to the dealership. They "fixed" it and charged me for the work done. But when I drove it again at 53mph when I hit a bump it started vibrating again. I now never drive over 50mph over the fear of it happening again. I looked it up on the internet and it is called death wobble and Jeep will not help us. I have not altered my vehicle at all. This is a dangerous defect and needs a recall before someone dies. Please do something before it is too late. It is like driving on the worst washboard road you ever saw at 60mph surrounded by traffic. It is a recipe for disaster. The car shakes so violently that the wheels wobble. Please look it up on the internet. A reporter in California did a story on it. Please do a recall. I have been driving Jeeps since 1986 and this is the 4th Jeep I have owned. This has never happened to me before. My last Jeep had 131,000 miles on it and I had no problems. Jeep has obviously changed the design or is using cheaper parts. This is not good for the Jeep brand.

Wheel problem #12

The 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4 door has seemed to have several complaints regarding violent shaking. This has happened to me several times where the vehicle shakes so violently it feels like you are having a tire blown out. It almost throws you off the road. I was almost in an accident on the highway. I am nervous and do not think this vehicle is safe.

Wheel problem #13

As I was driving down the highway, I hit a bump and my whole Jeep rapidly rattled back and forth across the road, nearly causing multiple accidents. It startled me severely, and I slammed on my brakes, slowly decelerating. It took until I got down to 25mph for it to stop shimmying. I pulled off the highway into the nearest gas station, checked my tire pressure and made sure there were no identifiable obtrusions that would affect performance, and carried on, very cautiously. This happens quite often, sometimes going as low at 45mph, but only when something in the road knocks it off balance. I do not feel safe in my Jeep at all.

Wheel problem #14

When driving on the highway at 55 mph, and hit the smalles bump the Jeep shake out of contol. Happened 5 time today.

Wheel problem #15

Driving my stock 2007 Jeep Wrangler on I-77 in charleston wv at 65mph. Started rounding a left hand curve in the road when I hit some minor bumps in the road. The vehicle started bouncing and shaking violently nearly causing me to lose control of the vehicle. I was able to slow and pull off to the side of the road. The shake went away at about 15-20 mph. I thought for sure a wheel was coming off. I slowed my speed but this still happened three more times before I could get it to royal Jeep in charleston where I had to leave it and rent a car for the night. After describing the incident to the service advisor stated it sound like a bad steering damper shock and stated that he has dealt with this problem before. I picked up the vehicle the next day to a tune of $205. 00 plus the rental car($64. 00) and drove back to cleveland OH without another incident. Mark by word, someone will die someday if this problem is not corrected quickly.

Wheel problem #16

Front end shakes violently, feels like a flat tire or a loose wheel. Stopped & checked tires, found nothing wrong. Got back in vehicle and drove. This has happen at least 2 other times. I believe it is called a death wobble. Was pretty scary.

Wheel problem #17

While driving at approx 40 mph, Jeep struck a small (very shallow) pothole. Front end of Jeep began to shake violently. This has happened on two other occassions in the last month, all between 40 and 50 mph. Each time the Jeep hit a bump in the road. Jeep is stock, no lifts, no off road use, original factory tires: goodyear Wrangler p255/75r17, properly inlfated to factory specs, low mileage 27394. The wobble doesn't stop until the vehicle is slowed drastically, steering is difficult while the wobble is occuring. Is this a recall item? manufacture reimbursement? any information regarding this issue would be appreciated.

Wheel problem #18

At highway speed my steering wheel and front end began to shake violently. This occurred when hitting a small joint in the pavement. The only way to stop the shaking was to slow down from 60 to approximately 30 miles per hour on the interstate.

Wheel problem #19

Steering column shakes violently after hitting small bumps, usually in a turn. Very close to causing accidents due to the need to brake quickly to slow down and eliminate the shaking. Its very disapointing this is not published nor anyone acted on this. Incident has now happened approx 20 times and vehicle has no after market parts.

Wheel problem #20

The Jeep death wobble has been happening to my vehicle since October 2011. I purchased the vehicle in October 2010. It happened once in 2011, I took it into the shop to see what was wrong and they said nothing was wrong with it. In the past two months it has started up again. I live in a remote area in alaska where the nearest city is 100 miles, only reached by highway. Each trip I would hit a bump and almost hit the guard rail at 65 mph. I stopped driving it until two weeks ago on my way back home from work (10 miles from home) it happened 3 times in the speed of 35-55. It was completely violent shaking where each time I was not able to control it. It only got worse with braking. The entire vehicle was uncontrollable. I am unable to take it to mechanics shop because it is 100 miles away and I am not putting my family or I at risk of an accident on an alaska highway.

Wheel problem #21

I have owned this vehicle for over four years. Recently, I needed to remove the spare tire for the first time and noticed a severe crack in the housing support bracket that connected the spare to the rear gate of the vehicle. This bracket has three lug nuts designed to support the spare and, because of the crack, one of the lugs was not providing any support for the approximately 150-pound tire and wheel. A crack around one of the other two lugs would likely cause a complete failure of the housing support, as I doubt one lug could hold the heavy spare and wheel. I believe this part should be recalled immediately.

Wheel problem #22

While driving down the road at about 40-45mph my right front tire hit a bump. When that happened the entire front end began to vibrate violently. The only thing that cured the issue was to brake the vehicle. Once it got down to about 15mph it finally stopped and I was able to continue. This has been an ongoing issue with this Jeep. This has happened before and the dealership replaced tie rods and a steering dampener but it's never gone away completely.

Wheel problem #23

When the vehicle reaches approximately 50 mph, the vehicle begins shake. The dealership replaced the drivers side hub on the front axle which wasn't covered under the warranty. I had it aligned & the wheels balanced, which helped a little, but it was still shaking. Two months later I took it back to the dealership & they're replacing all the ball joints and the passenger side hub on the front axle. I had already replaced the upper ball joints previously.

Wheel problem #24

When going faster than 50 miles per hour the car shakes and wobbles and is not controllable.

Wheel problem #25

My 2007 Jeep unlimited sahara has the "death wobble. " occurred several months ago. Mechanic couldn't figure it out, but prescribed tire inflation. Problem went away until one week ago. Can be easily replicated by going over a speed bump at about 25 mph and turning the wheel to the left sharply. Alternatively, just traveling above 40-45 mph on a highway, especially on a curve, will replicate. If any other Jeep driver has this problem, the only way to protect yourself is to brake slowly, get off the road and drive under 40 mph. . . And much slower while turning even on side streets. If you must drive on a highway, stay in the slow lane so that you can exit to the shoulder with relative safety, and engage your hazard lights. Obviously, these are not practical solutions and ultimate culpability must lie with the manufacturer, who has been put on alert of this persistent problem for many months if not years. Very dangerous problem that needs to be repaired by Jeep before someone gets killed or seriously hurt. Please share these complaints with Jeep & the general public (without disclosing the names or specific VIN #s).

Wheel problem #26

While traveling on interstate at posted speeds every rough patch of roadway or going over a bridge (bump entering or exiting bridge) the steering wheel would shake violently. I would let off gas, gently apply brake and pull onto shoulder to get control back of vehicle. Sometimes I would have to come to a complete stop before the shaking would stop other times between 5 to 20 mphs the shaking would stop. This was a 300 mile trip home, I reduced speed to see if this would decrease the effects, it seem to help where roads were smoother but happened nearly just the same. The vehicle is equiped with electronic stability control which never activated. It has happened numerous time since Dec 17 2011.

Wheel problem #27

Was driving on the interstate when the Jeep started shacking like crazy couldnt control it almost casued wreck between two tractor trailers thought it just fell out of gear but then week later it did it again going around a curve and almost went over a very steep hill side to later do research found out that it has been a on going issue called death wobble several things cause it that are defects took it to the dealer ship to find out they have to replace damper bracklet kit, steering damper, damper tire rod, damper bracket nut and a bolt only had the Jeep 3 months the dealership had never heard of it which I was told they say that thru the online comments from others who have had same problem I printed out all information so they could see what was going on now there charging me to fix the problem to also find out that the Jeep never went thru the service department until I took it back asking when the oil change and tire rotation was do on it there wasnt any records in there system of it being thru there service department so they just put on the lot to sale basically so they changed the oil then and serviced it now im with out a vechical for 5-6 days while they order the parts and fix it ive never had this much trouble out of a vechical paying so much money for it and 3 months in already haveing to fork out money to have it safe and drive able so filleing this complaint to hopeful help others in my situtaion on a safety defect that should be fixed by the company and not the individual befor someone gets killed like I did almost twice befor I knew what was happening.

Wheel problem #29

2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4dr 4x4. At speeds over 50 mph, the front tires begin to shake and wobble violently. The shaking only stopped after I came to a complete stop. This happened after I hit a bumpy road. My Jeep has been a street vehicle and really not going on the highway many times. I only have under 9,000 miles. Now that I live in California, and I have to drive in highways, I feel very uncomfortable driving speeds over 50 miles per hour.

Wheel problem #30

Vehicle suffers extreme shaking and wobbling at speeds above 40 mph, becomes particularly worse on lane changes and curved roads. Happens whether the surface is wet or dry. The problem is intermittent; meaning, it does not happen all the time, but is particularly worse in mornings when vehicle is "cold" or has not been driven overnight. The violent shaking makes vehicle nearly impossible to steer or maintain in lane, particularly dangerous on the highway. This is an extremely dangerous condition that requires immediate attention from Chrysler/Jeep.

Wheel problem #31

My Jeep Wrangler has the well known defect appropriate consumer name "the Jeep death wobble" there is no guaranteed repair in this defect that causes and has caused accident and / or death. I will not repair a Jeep that I did not cause the defect in the manufacture. My Jeep is well maintained, never taken off road , never altered any of the original manufacture design and parts. This defect is affecting thousands upon thousands of consumers and there is no guaranteed repair if any and I will not risk the lives of my family, friends, enemies, children, babies, pets, those innocent people driving around me with their non-defective vehicle and I will not risk my life at the hands of daimler chryslers defective Jeep Wranglers since 2003. This to be a priority for this defect in 50% to 75% Jeep Wranglers may cause and has caused accident and or death. Yours in success,.

Wheel problem #32

As a citizen of the united states of America with constitutional rights and consumer rights, this is regarding the "old/new Chrysler Jeep death wobble" corruption by all parties involved. . Affecting 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Chrysler Jeeps. After much research this Chrysler Jeep design/manufacture defect has existed for many, many years but the fact of the matter is the defect was not redesigned or designed out as far as Chrysler and NHTSA are concerned, this dangerous and life threatening defect does not exist and will never cause death!, only crashes and accidents! we as consumers are liable for any negative outcome due to "the Jeep death wobble"; and when the consumer gets in a crash, accident, injures someone, kills someone due to this defect, unless we can prove it was "the Jeep death wobble" that Chrysler and NHTSA say is not a safety issue or of concern (even though thousands upon thousands of Jeep consumers beg to differ) we are liable for Chrysler's safety defect that causes crashes and accidents that may lead to death to the consumer and those drivers sharing the road. Drivers sharing the road also have a right to have Jeep consumers driving safe vehicles. Chrysler states "Chrysler Jeeps are built differently" Chrysler consumers state what is different than safe??!!! NHTSA, an agency of the executive branch of the united states government and part of the department of transportation, describes its mission as save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle related crashes. Nhtsa is supposed to be promoting safety to all vehicles on the road not contributing to unsafe Jeeps or any dangerous vehicles on the road! NHTSA is also denying the truth and leaving us the Jeep consumers liable when they have thousands upon thousands of reports on the Jeep death wobble (also known as the ?steering shimmy?) and all the stories are the same.

Wheel problem #33

Dear mr. Strickland, I received a response from mr. Randy reid stating that there was not a safety defect trend with Jeep Wranglers. . . Are you kidding me? do you not read all your reports regarding this issue. I am asking again and will continue to ask for any one person at NHTSA to look into this very serious defect that causes accidents, crashes, that may lead to death. . . Office of defects investigation needs to have "the Jeep death wobble investigated, researched for NHTSA describes its mission as "save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle-related crashes. Please I would like this rsolved for I would like my life back. Yours in success, coleen m. Park.

Wheel problem #34

Driving on the interstate at approximately 65 mph, and the front end began shaking violently. I started pulling over and when I got down to 35 mph, the shaking stopped. I was able to drive for a couple of weeks without incidence, and then it happened again with increasing frequency. This was a stock Jeep bought new without any after-market alterations with only 52k miles. I took it into midas, and they said I needed a new steering stabilizer. They replaced it, and it did not solve the problem. I took it to another mechanic, and they replaced trackbar, but it didn't solve the problem. I took it back to midas, and they put another new stabilizer, still had the problem with ever-increasing frequency. I put new tires on the car, and the problem went away for about 20k miles. At 73k, the problem started again. This time I took it the Jeep dealer. They knew what the "death wobble" was, and they said they would check everything. They reported back that there was nothing wrong with the components, and suggested I get the tires balanced again. I got the tires balanced and took it back a week later to the dealer as the problem was happening with more frequency, and now was occurring at speeds between 45-55 mph. I suggested a particular patch of highway for a test drive. They called me back and said, "there is something seriously wrong. " they then worked with Chrysler to identify and "solve" the problem. They replaced the tire rods and joints. Three days later I experienced the problem again, and then again, and again. I have spent approximately $1400 to "fix" this problem, and it continues to persist. Do an online search of "death wobble" and you'll find entry after entry and even videos. I'm really worried that one of these times when I and forced to quickly slow down and head to the shoulder, I'm going to end up rear ended by a tractor trailer.

Wheel problem #35

2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited - front end shakes violently at or above 55 mph after hitting small bump in road. Steering wheel shakes back and forth violently, feels like wheels are goign to fall off or car will flip over - complete loss of control unless you slow down to 35mph - which is not easy to do on the highway in traffic. This occurs almost daily. To date we have replaced the track bar, replaced the tires, had the vehicle re-alligned and tires balanced. Next step is to replace the steering stabilizer. So far no permanent fixes.

Wheel problem #36

While driving over 55 mph on highway there is a death shake that start only letting up on the gas will it stop.

Wheel problem #37

I bought a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x, this vehicle is equipped with the stock steel 16" rims. These rims have a major design flaw they are made with a deep cavity and or trench behind the spokes, snow, ice etc. Settle in this cavity making it impossible to chip or remove the ice. As you drive on snowy roads the tires throw snow, ice etc. . Into this trench. While centrifugal force hold the substance in place. When this happens the wheels are out of extreme balance shaking the vehicle, the steering wheel shakes violently. I contacted Jeep about this and they say there is nothing they can do, hopefully you can. This is the first year for this type of rim and hopefully the last.

Wheel problem #38

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x. The current and failure mileage were 300. There was a deep channel that was in the outer ring of the wheel . The space was large and it collected water and debris. While driving all of the debris from the road was in the wheel, and this caused the vehicle to drive in a weird way. While driving at speeds of 55 mph the wheel launched a piece of debris. The dealer agreed that there was a major design problem, and told him just to be careful while driving at elevated speeds. Daimler/Chrysler stated that there was nothing that they could do about the problem because there was no part to service the defect. During testing of the vehicle the manufacturer noticed that the rear coil springs were weak. Updated 07/06/07.
