1 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2019

My airbag light wont turn off nor will my esp bas light or traction control light.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

My 2007 Jeep Wrangler has a seriously dangerous problem commonly referred to as the death wobble! I had never heard of it until it did it while I was driving down a smooth suburb street and I searched the internet for help. The Jeep owners community named it the death wobble because it literally wobbles and shakes without any warning lights, without anything triggering it, on every type of road, and at every speed. After it happened on the interstate with my son in the car with me, I no longer allowed my children to ride in the Jeep at all. We almost died that day as it shook so violently almost putting us in the opposite side of the interstate! we missed getting t-boned by an 18 wheeler by just a hair. It was so frightening! the Jeep dealership service dept said there's nothing that they can do about it and that it was very common. How is such a danger common??? how can these vehicles be legally sold?? the last time it happened I was alone and I ended up in a ditch. I was able to drive out of the ditch and went to nearby auto shop. Their diagnosis was that the engine "sling a rod" they said. For 3 months now, I have been making payments on a Jeep sitting dead in an auto shop. As a single mom I can't afford such a huge repair and route 66 warranty company decided to cancel my already paid for extended warranty when I filed the claim on it. They denied it and said they're canceling me. This vehicle is going to kill someone. Please help!!.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

The day before yesterday my car died on the side of the road, I thought maybe I had ran out of gas because the light was on. I filled up with the gas can and the Jeep did not start. I tried to jump it using cables and it wouldn't turn over. I went to autozone and bought a new battery, the Jeep started after that. Yesterday I got an oil change, they checked my battery and showed me the oil after the change, said everything was golden. I was on my way home when my battery light popped on again, I kind of shook it off considering I just replaced it. Well my car jerked me forward, every single light turned on and my steering wheel locked up. I pulled off to the side of the high way as much as I could and my car was completely dead. I got it towed to a mechanic and they called to tell me that the issue was my "tipm" and that I would have to get it towed to a dealership. As I googled what that was regarding my year make and model I found out there was a recall on this about 7 years ago for my Jeep specifically.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

Vehicle would stall and put itself into limp mode upon driving at highway speeds. Happened numerous times over the course of a 3 week period. Obd-ii threw codes pertaining to failing sensors in egr, camshaft and acceleration pedal. Read many online forums about other with Jeep and Chrysler vehicles having faulty tipm units. My car will now not run without sounding like it's being starved of fuel. I fear the bad tipm may have also caused the fuel pump to go bad. Chrysler was less than helping in suggesting I bring the vehicle in and was told my warranty (if I even had one still valid) could be voided for bringing the vehicle to a shop my friend owns for the repairs instead of a dealership. This car has been nothing but problems since I purchased it two years ago. I'm in the thousands of dollars in non routine repairs and owe too much on it to walk away from it. It's my daily driver and have no other vehicle to get to work or around.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2018

My Jeep gets what they call a death shudder. . . It does it sparatically at around 40 mph. . . Everything in the front shakes horribly and feels like its going to fall apart . . . On any road. . . Going straight. . . No bumps involved.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

Taka airbags, tipm fuse box. Completely disables the vehicle. They have known about and have been running this part in many Chrysler Dodge Jeep vehicles since 1995. My car is a 2007. It reckon havock on the whole electrical system. The dealer milks all of your 260 somthing sensors before replacing the tipm, totally integrated power module. And the sway bar disconnect is prone to water damage and shorting out because they let water in the assembly and short out then they charge you 1400 dollars for a new one. When it is just the actuator. A manual override is only 89. 00. All of these problems are from the can buse c. 90 %of this vehicle problems are from this can buse c. But no recall on the tipm, sway bar actuator, or can buse c communication. This whole electrical system should be a recall. It is garbage. Over complicated and under nesasary! driving done the freeway and the whole dashboard lights up I pulled over turned car off and then would not turn back on. Goes in to a limp mode. I was worried that it would shut off or worse cause an accident or leave me stranded in the freeway! the airbag recall could set the airbag of wile driving causing you to crash.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2018

I was driving down a merge lane coming off of northbound highway 65 in springfield missouri entering onto james river freeway on 2/19/2018 when my Jeep steering wheel started shaking violently. I pulled off the road and then drove very slowly for approximately 1 mile to park at my place of employment. I had to tow Jeep. I would describe this as the "death wobble" that seems to be a not so uncommon issue with Jeeps. I have high mileage, but replaced engine due to another Jeep issue, so approximately 70000 miles on new engine.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2016

Instrument panel goes haywire, flickers, gauges go crazy(random) instrument panel goes out completely at start up and shifter is stuck in park position. When disconnecting the battery and reconnecting resets tipm and will then go back to normal. When turned off same problem again. Engine has stalled while driving also.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

Multiple times yesterday, starting with (which I thought nothing of initially) the traction control light turning on while the Jeep was in park not moving. Shortly there after while driving straight on a highway about 45-55 mph a knock or clunk was felt beneath the floor, immediately followed by the eas, traction control, abs and brake lights illuminated, the airbag light flashed, the wipers running even though they were off, a hard pull to the right and high running/increasing rpm's on a level road with my foot off the accelerator. I hit the hazards, pulled off the road, looked at, in and under the Jeep, nothing looked amiss. My husband took over the drive, made it roughly 8-10 miles with out issue and than again everything above but in addition this time the horn blared for probably 2 minutes, if not more, he pulled over shut it off turned it on we went home, waited about 2 hours, drove about 15 blocks city roads with hills and turns less than 25mph round trip and nothing happened. Might be worth mentioning, for the last month or so in high heat 80 degrees and up, it hasn't been starting the first few turns, but the battery is less than 6 months old.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2016

Two weeks ago I when to the dealer to detail clean my Jeep, I park at the entrance of the shop, when they where going to take my Jeep in for cleaning, it will not start, they had to push the Jeep into the shop, after checking it for a wild, they told me that it burn a fuse, they replace it and everything was find. Last week when I came out of my job, the Jeep will not start again, I just replace the fuse and it was all fine. This morning am at wawa getting coffee and when I came out , the Jeep will not start, had to get a toll truck to take it to my mechanic. He check it and told me there something cutting off the power and blowing the fuse every time he try to start it. He told to check with the dealer to see if there was a recall or problem with this, I call and by my VIN number they said there was no recall, a recall on the switch and for cutting off the power was issued for newer models but not for 2007. I will like to know if there been other similar complain about this, now I remember that sometimes my Jeep will be loosing like power or stalling when I was driving, I keep my Jeep clean and in very good conditions , up to date in maintenance, but this worrying me. I have a friend with a 2008 Jeep, and he told me he had the same problem with his.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2015

My horn quit working the same time the airbag light and the electronic stabilizer control / bas light came on.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2015

Air bag light is on,horn stopped working, esp and bak light is on n none of codes can be cleared.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

When driving at a speed of 40 mph the Jeep's dash lights came on, the horn started blowing, the windshield wipers came on, the locks went on and off and the car stalled. This has happened numerous times over the past year and a half at different speeds, while idling, and different weather conditions.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2013

Shortly before taking vehicle in for brakes, the abs/esp/bas and traction lights came on. Repair shop stated this would reset after brakes replacement. It did not. Now the lights are on all the time. I have no abs,no traction control and vehicle is all over the road in inclement conditions. Also the wipers won't turn off after car is turned off and key is removed. They operate on low or high no intermittent. The fluid works and the rear wipers and fluid works, but the wipers wont turn off unless I remove the fuse. And now the cruise control will not work. I was told the tipm is bad, but looking at reviews online. It seems like this is a safety concern for all these issues and should be cause for recall.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2013

I engaged my electronic swaybar disconnect when I went off-roading. When I returned to pavement, I tried to reconnect by pressing the button on the instrument panel, but the light continued flashing on the dash. I took my 2007 Jeep Wrangler rubicon in to the local Jeep dealer and was told that it was not covered by warranty. After doing some research online, I found that this is a very common issue among rubicon owners. . Read more...

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2013

Driving on 4 lane non-interstate road in the rain at approximately 40 mph. Drove through a puddle that seemed to affect the left front tire only and the front end began to shake violently as though something had came loose. There was a strong pull to the left also. I'm thinking I will have to get the front end checked out, stopped at a grocery store for a few things and when headed home the shake is still there, but not so violent. Parked at home overnight and headed out the next day to get it looked at and there is no shake whatsoever, vehicle drives like it always has. In doing some research on the internet I see a problem others seem to be having exactly like mine and it's being called the "death wobble". It has not done this since this one time but it has me worried that it will at any time, and could be very dangerous.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

I was driving on highway when hitting 65mph and Jeep started to shake uncontrollably. I would have to stop and pull over to a lower speed for it to stop. But if I was in left lane and it started I couldn't swing to breakdown lane so would have to stop immediately in traffic. Very unsafe but better than causing accident. I replaced the steering stabilizer last summer with no relief. Why is Jeep not handling this ? why are people like us spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle just to have cause life threatening issues I have many things and read up on this death wobble of Jeep. Is it something I can get lawyers involved ?.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

Faulty clockspring causing multiple lights to be illuminated on my dash. Also have to have the steering angles sensor replaced with the clock spring.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2013

As I was driving down the highway, I hit a bump and my whole Jeep rapidly rattled back and forth across the road, nearly causing multiple accidents. It startled me severely, and I slammed on my brakes, slowly decelerating. It took until I got down to 25mph for it to stop shimmying. I pulled off the highway into the nearest gas station, checked my tire pressure and made sure there were no identifiable obtrusions that would affect performance, and carried on, very cautiously. This happens quite often, sometimes going as low at 45mph, but only when something in the road knocks it off balance. I do not feel safe in my Jeep at all.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

I recently purchased a product called cellcontrol which is a distracted driving prevention product. When plugging their product into my obd port my car's computer began acting up. After 2 weeks in the shop and replacement of 2 computers in my vehicle it was determined that the cellcontrol device not only cooked my car's electronics but it voided my warranty since I broke the factory installed seal on the obd port in order to plug their device in. I don't believe this product has been adequately tested and may result in accidents since my vehicle at one point would not come out of high gear due to the computer malfunctioning.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2012

After fighting with Jeep customer service I had to pay for a set of recommended upgraded Wrangler silent armor tires. Jeep "strongly suggested" that I do this even though my old tires, original Jeep Wrangler tires, were in good condition. Jeep refused to pay for the tires even though it acknowledged the death wobble had worn patterns in the old tires. Jeep put in a mopar stabilizer, and insisted this would cure the manufacturing defect. Two weeks after installation of the new tires and new stabilizer/damper by the authorized Jeep service provider, the death wobble recurred. I immediately took it to the Jeep dealership and the death wobble was replicated by the service manager who drove the Wrangler while I was sitting in the passenger seat. After haggling, Jeep agreed to replace the stabilizer. This is still in the process of being resolved. Several things to remember: (1) call Jeep, regardless of the year of your vehicle or warranty status. Please, don't let Jeep customer service tell you that your vehicle is out of warranty and they are not accountable. Known manufacturing defects have no warranty limitations and recalls can be made regardless of out-of-warranty status. (2) press Jeep for reimbursement for all out-of-pocket expenses you've made trying to fix their problem. I was not 100% successful, but I am still appealing to them, especially since repairs were made by their own dealership. My next step will be the small claims court, if not federal. (3) report this problem to the NHTSA! the death wobble is real and it puts lives at risk. If there are no complaints, there are no recalls or fixes, and lives will be lost, if they haven't already. (4) ask your friends and family members if they've noticed this problem. Unfortunately, many drivers think it's an isolated issue. It is not, and Jeep is aware of it.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2011

Driving on the road going about 45mph and the Jeep started to violently shake (death wobble), felt like I had a tire blow out, pulled over, nothing was wrong, drove away and was fine. Scared myself and my 10 year old son! I have the vehicle being inspected now.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2010

2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited randomly stalls. Dash lights light up and engine stalls with complete loss of power steering and braking--this has occurred at 60 mph and as low as 10 mph. Has been taken to dealership and they cannot replicate the issue. It continues to be a problem.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2010

2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 safari with esp (electronic stability program). Esp intermittently turns on by itself and can't be turned off. It will eventually turn itself off. Dealer tells me it's caused by a defective clock spring in the steering column, which also controls the steering wheel air bag, cruise control and the horn! I feel this is a safety concern, if any of these devices quit working, because of a defective clock spring!!!!.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4x4 - 1. Everytime I fill gas tank, gas overflows out of tank at me and down side of Jeep. Serious safety issue. 2. Driving on the highway the other day and 3 different malfunction indicator lights came on in a matter of seconds, Jeep powered off. No power steering or brakes, traveling approximately 60 mph. Very odd, scary and unsafe??? car is at dealership, no clue why this happened at this time. Dealership needs to take engine apart at an estimated cost of $900. What is Chrysler going to do about these issues. ?.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

The sway bar will not reconnect on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited jk rubicon making it unsafe to drive at freeway speed.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

Incidents of engine stall; airbag non-deployment; random horn, headlight, taillight, door lock, instrument panel and windshield wiper activity; failure of fuel pump shutoff resulting in unintended acceleration; and fires. All the dash back lights come off and on randomly especially the heater controls. Air bag light is always on. Air bag light and beeper flash and beep all the time and no mechanic does not know what to do about it. Very flushterating to drive w airbag beeping . No resale value due to all the above things. Will you buy it? horn has now stopped working and lights behind the heater do not work either.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2010

While turning into my driveway my 2007 Jeep Wrangler x (with 55000 miles) "chimed" and the air-bag , traction control, and anti-lock brake warning lights lit up. Upon investigsting the issue I found that this leaves the saftey systems inactive! a bad "clock spring" in the steering wheel is he cause of all the system failures. My vehicle is no longer covered under warranty, but I feel that this should still be covered by Jeep/Chrysler. This is a major safty concern or me and my family.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2009

I was driving a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and the low tire pressure light came on. I filled the tires to the specified amount and drove down the road. The Jeep all of a sudden violently shook back and fourth to the point I could barley hold on to the steering wheel. I was able to stop the vehicle, visually check the wheels and drive away and problem went away. I believe what I experienced was the "death wobble. " now recently my father was driving the same Jeep and it happened to him 3 times on a road trip without the tire pressures being changed. He took it to the dealership and they replace the steering stabilizer. I believe this is just a fix to the damage that was caused by the Jeeps malfunctions and they did not fix anything to prevent the wobble from happening again.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2009

Abs, traction control and esp lights all went on and stayed on. I do not believe that any of these systems was working, as the vehicle spun out at under 40 miles per hour on damp pavement the day after lights went on. Took vehicle to dealership, and was told it was a wiring problem. Charge was more than $300. 00. Told I had to pay because I had more than $36,000 miles on vehicle.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2008

Purchased 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited new, but vehicle had been modified by the selling dealer with a 4" skyjacker lift kit. On second day of driving vehicle, began experiencing inappropriate activation of the electronic stability program. Vehicle automatically brakes on certain freeway on ramps and highway curves, both while braking and accelerating. Vehicle has been seen both by the selling dealer and one other dealer and problem has not been cured. Chrysler customer service give no assistance and tells me that as the vehicle was modified by the dealer, I must work this out with the dealer. Numerous internet websites describes this same problem with other lifted Jeep Wranglers. Selling dealer has advised they have done all they can.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2007

I was driving with friends when I noticed that the vehicle was not functioning properly. Overheating, ac stopped working, and an odd speed fluctuation. I informed the people I was with that I was going to drive to the main road. Before I got there, about 50 feet, the whole vehicle was engulfed in flames. The flames went over the top of the Jeep. Luckily the flames died down briefly enough for me to jump out out. I lost everything in the Jeep and the Jeep itself. Upon contacting Jeep, they said it wasn't their fault rather it was my fault. Clearly something malfunctioned and I almost lost my life.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem
