2 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2009

Sunday April 4th, 2009 the temperature was a high of 73 and on April 5th, 2009 the high was 49. I own a 2007 Jeep Wrangler sahara with approx. 27k miles. After out running errands and using the defrost,I noticed a small crack at the bottom of the passengers side of the wind shield. When I noticed the crack it was approx. 3 " long, and ran from bottom to top, since then it has begun to curve towards the drivers side by about 1". I have taken the vehicle to two dealers and both have dismissed it has a rock chip. One service manager told me that even the smallest rock chip is enough to crack the windshield. He traced the crack with a writing pen and determined it was not a stress issue but a "rock hit". The other service manager rubbed her finger over the crack and determined it to be a "rock hit", both service managers did state that the "rock hit" could have been already present and the current temperature change could have caused the crack. One service manager did say that if the "rock hit" was not present he could fix it under the current warranty. I came home a did a google search and found several complaints about the 2007 Jeep and it's windshield.

Large crack developed in windshield at 15,000 miles after normal usage from minor rock damage.

4 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2008

I guess I am writing with more than one issue. Sorry for the inconvenience of such a long explanation but I thought long and hard before delving into this. I purchased my 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x 4-door 2wd in October of 2006. I was one of the lucky victims that while going 70 mph, the entire Jeep shut down and then restarted on it's own. This happened twice. Took it in once, I got the "I'm sorry look" and was let go. Didn't even bother with the dealership the second time and finally was lucky enough not to have a wreck before the recall was sent. Within one month, not more than 1200 on the vehicle, it would not start. Called tow trucks twice. Each time, it took the tow truck 30-45 minutes to arrive and in that time frame, with repeated efforts, I was able to get the vehicle to start. This has not happened again for about 6 - 9 months then came February 2007. It was about 45 degrees outside and I walked out to get the mail. As I looked up at the Jeep, I was stopped dead in my tracks and did not even want to face what I knew had happened. Right below where the windshield starts, right above the hood, on the drivers' side was an approximate 1" crack. I went back outside 3 times thinking maybe I "thought" I was seeing something that wasn't really there. Within one week, the crack had extended up about 1/2" and cracked horizontally about 4 inches across. So sorry again for the long, indepth letter. I just don't know what to do anymore. Would really appreciate some advice. Lana jackson lawton oklahoma.

6 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2007

The windshield on the vehicle is very weak. I have had three cracks in the last three weeks. This seems to occur on days below 32 degrees f. I do not travel gravel roads and have never had a vehicle windshield do this before.

7 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The windshield developed a crack approximately three inches long. The contact stated that the crack has extended across the entire windshield. The dealer stated that they were unable to assist. The current mileage was 15,000 and failure mileage was 14,000. Updated 03/06/08. The dealer stated the crack was due to a rock hitting the windshield. The consumer did some research and discovered, the windshield tend to crack due to freezing temperatures. The consumer stated the 2007 models have a window change and the edges are no longer protected with a rubber sealer and thus it seems this may be making the glass excessively fail. Updated.

8 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2007

I bought my 2007 Wrangler jk from herterich food/Jeep in dover , DE . It was brand new, and a few days after buying it, it had rained and my soft top leaked from the forward left and right sides of the soft top right at the corners of where it meets the windshield. I've taken it back to the dealer to have it fixed twice and still the same result. It always leaks regardless of what rain condition. Note this was a brand new vehicle that I bought. And if it continues it im afraid it will cause water damage that is irreversible to my interior.

- the contact stated that while driving 2007 Jeep Wrangler limited the warning lights on dash board turned on and radio turned off, at which time vehicle lost power while driving at 65-75 mph. Vehicle mileage at the time of failure was 2900, and is currently 7464. The first time vehicle lost power the rpms were still running. He put the vehicle in neutral.
