Nine problems related to headlights have been reported for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2020

Vehicle components begin malfunctioning, wipers turn on, wiper washer pump floods windshield, lights flash, headlights randomly turn off while vehicle is in motion, horn sounds, cannot turn vehicle off. Turn key to off position and vehicle continues to run creating an extremely dangerous situation. Wipers and washers blind driver randomly. Online research all points to known issue with totally integrated power module that has well documented failure rate. This is a horribly dangerous situation that deserves investigation and remediation.

2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

Electrical problem causing starting problems, issues with windshield wipers and no lights on dash or headlights/break lights. At times while driving all lights on dashboard will turn off and windshield wipers go on on their own. The headlights and break lights will also not work. The interior lights and radio will still function. Dealership could not find the problem or solution.

3 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2018

Jeep tipm failure numerous times. Headlights stop working completely, airbags reportedly non working, winshield wipers work when they want to, horn blows on its own. Door locks cycle on their own. Engine wont shut off with the key unless unhooking the battery.

4 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2017

As the vehicle was travelling at night on a two-lane country road at 35 mph, the electrical power of the vehicle shut off, including headlights, radio, interior power, ventilation, and engine. The duration of the outage was approximately 10 seconds. This power outage occurred just prior to a curve and caused loss of vision and abs braking, causing a skid and narrowly missed colliding with a guardrail. The power then came back on, and all systems appeared to return to normal. There appears to be a power distribution problem that affected the operability of the vehicle, creating a hazardous condition. Battery and alternator check out ok, so a power supply problem is not a root cause of the issue.

5 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

While driving headlights, windshield wipers/washer, signals, esp disable button and interior lights stopped functioning. This is the second tipm in this vehicle. The first was replaced after power windows stopped functioning.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Jeep has mind of its own. No start, no headlights, wipers work on their own and spray all fluid. Jeep shuts off driving, then cant shut engine off with key.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2015

This morning I opened the unlocked front passenger door and the craziness began - doors locked on their own, horn started blaring, headlights tailights and hazards started flashing, front and back windshield wipers started going, windshield washer fluid started shooting out. I attempted to use the remote to unlock the doors - nothing happened. Used the key to manually unlock the door - against the system trying to relock. Then cranked the engine to try and get everything to stop. It did not stop. I turned off the Jeep then popped the hood and disconnected the negative terminal. All the craziness stopped. I waited @5 minutes and then reconnected the battery. All the craziness started again. So I pulled the negative and the positive from the terminal hoping to reset the system. I have not reconnected the system to try again. I am worried that even if the craziness doesn't start once I reconnect the battery, if I am driving down the road and it begins it may cause me to wreck. I will send a follow-up email. Thanks.

8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

My Jeep will randomly squirt wiper fluid, lock and unlock doors, honk horn, turn off and on headlights, etc. All things that are controlled by the electronic system. I never know when it will happen and it differs each time, but I am worried that it is beginning to happen more frequently and will happen when I am on a highway - it has the potential to be dangerous. Due to all of the other complaints I have seen about it from Jeep owners of my year and the recall on previous Chrysler's due to the tipm, a recall needs to be issued for these.
