When refueling and the pump shuts off, fuel with then leak back our and will run down the side of the Jeep onto the ground. This is a large fire hazard, and there was previously a recall for 2007 and 2008 for this. The dealership states that they have never heard of this, and will not look at it without a full workup and paying up front. This issue is not safe, and I am thinking about getting rid of the vehicle completely due to this. There are are only 77,000 miles on this now so it isn't like I abuse the vehicle.
As you were fueling the vehicle it will spit fuel back at you and poor fuel all over the ground and me, many people have this problem there is a recall from 2007 to 2008 but not 2009 through 2010 even though they have the same exact very dangerous issue.
Upon fueling the vehicle and the fueling process stops, the Jeep spits back about 1/2 gallon of fuel, all over the vehicle, the ground and the fuel station.
The design of the fuel tank installed in the 2010 Jeep Wrangler is faulty, the plastic utilized in the manufacture of the gasoline and evaporation fittings is of an inferior material and it can not withstand heat and low humidity. The plastic tends to dry out, crack and crumble, creating fuel and vapor leaks, which could result in a fire or explosion. I have had to replace the gas tank on my 2010 Wrangler in July 2017, at odometer reading 94944 and again in January 2023 with an odometer reading of 161599.
Plastic rollover valve on gas tank dry out cracked which is modeled to tank can not be replaced which means you have to replace the gastank for what looks like a 5 dollar part. Will not past smog because of this issue.
When ever I fill the tank with gas I get leakage of fuel on my driveway so I have been filling it halfway and I don’t get the leakage it also has a fuel smell. I have found on the internet that this is common and the repair part is available, but I feel that this is very similar to the recall on Toyota trucks that is now on going so I feel it is my duty to report this safety situation.
2010 Jeep Wrangler approximate 96k miles dealing with a faulty tipm: issues with electrical components such car not starting (battery, started all have been replaced) key fob being replaced every 12 months even after battery have been replaced. Power windows and power door locks working when they want to work. Transmission has also been replaced with a new one. This has been going on for about 3-4 years.
Gas pours out when filled up and goes all over the Jeep and the concrete which is a major fire hazard at gas pump.
Headlights stop working while driving because Jeep knows about a tipm issue but will not fix it. Tipm issue. This issue is common and described across the web but is a safety hazard! the headlights will flash 3-5 times then completely shut off. Restarting the Jeep and disconnecting the battery does not help. Jeep dealer says circuit in the tipm is the issue and that this is common! lordy have mercy for all the vecs on the road when my headlights started flashing at them and then went out on, of course, an unlit section of the road. But the crazier part is Jeep knew this could happen and doesn't warn the customers. I sure did not know that I might be driving blind at night becoming a safety hazard. The lights then decide to not work for a few days before going back to being reliable for anywhere from weeks to months until you happen to drive at night again and bam they go out again. Luckily the runner/ fog lights are unaffected but as a primary vehicle I can not just keep taking ubers every time it is dark outside! this is such a serious safety issue to loose your lights while driving! there are two common fixes for this. One you buy the tipm or two you buy non stock headlights and reroute them to your own switch but for most of us, buying a part that Jeep knows will break is crazy and not practical (plus we the consumer didn't know it would) and the alternative of having to buy a different company's lights to buy pass the wiring in just crazy. It is such a serious issue I do not understand why there is no recall! I'm also so unsure if I can even pass a safety inspection anymore. Also the automatic fuel stopper does not work which is another know glitch with the tipm. This is okay if you know about it because you can hold the handle the whole time while filling up but you can not trust it alone. It isn't like it is all the time either. Just enough to keep you on your toes and plosion the ground with spillage. The first time is scary though.
Rpm fluctuating rapidly, loss of power, then it starts a death wobble that is almost uncontrollable that is side to side. Will be driving down the highway and it happens everytime.
When trying to fill up with gas, the automatic shut off on the nozzle will go off, to the point where when trying to fill up you end up spilling gas on yourself or out of the car, happens every time, all the time and is a known issue for Jeep jk's. A recall was posted for two of the eleven years. When I spoke to the dealer, they wanted to do a smoke test, because they had never heard of this issue even though there is a service bulletin that I had to personally find. Dealer seems to just want money. I think spilling gas every time I fill up is a major safety concern.
Vehicle's sensor does not tell gas pump when to stop filling with gas and sprays out onto the concrete and vehicle. Causing a major fire hazard and pollutant.
When filling up for gas it does not recognize to stop. When pumping it will overflow onto the car, floor and myself. Each time having a cleanup.
Fuel overspills the fuel intake when filling at a standard gas pump with auto shut-off. The pump automatically stops filling, then a second later a significant amount of gas splashes back out of the intake. From reading other complains here and online, this is a common problem on Jeeps of this year and around it.
My dealership refuses to honor a recall for the fuel spillback problem and wants me to pay in excess of $300 for the part and repair. This is the problem with fueling and the pump shutoff does not engage, thus overflowing and spilling gasoline out of the fuel door. This of course happens when the car is stationary. I wasn't allowed to order the mopar part number cnnnx321ac to repair the problem myself because the vendor said it can only be purchased by the dealer because it is a "recalled" part. I need to know how I can file a claim to be reimbursed if I have to pay the dealership or how I can order the part through a vendor who would allow me to purchase the part. Please respond with a solution. Thank you.
Seem to have a fuel leak somewhere. Smell of gasoline from the rear of the vehicle. Especially strong when the heater is on. Strong smell even when just walking around the vehicle outside, but no obvious leak visible.
While fueling Jeep, as it gets full it will splash gasoline from the fill area onto the Jeep and myself. This is an ongoing problem as it happens on a regular basis and then have to clean my Jeep and myself up because the gas comes out at a good force. I then smell like gasoline for the rest of the day.
When filling with gas, the fuel spills out all over the floor instead of cutting off automatically.
When fueling vehicle, fuel will spill out where nozzle is and flow down side of vehicle and from a puddle of gas on the ground, it's is unknown how close fuel gets to muffler exhaust system but could potentially start a fire at the gas pumps.
Major gas spillage after stopping the pump. Gas goes everywhere. This is seriously dangerous!.
Every time adding fuel blowback occurs spraying fuel over the car and 2-3 feet proximity. There is an existing recall for this for model year 2007-2008.
I have had my Jeep for about six months now, and within the last month, it began spewing excess gas for a second or two even after it was done fueling. I have not done anything different to my car, nor have I been fueling at just one gas station. Multiple stations have produced the same result. I am very afraid because the amount of gas could potentially be hazardous.
Fuel spills out when refueling vehicle. Nozzle auto shuts off then fuel spurts out. No idea why, have not changed type of fuel being used although it is now winter in spokane so the formulation may have changed, don't know. It is a dangerous situation.
Gas over flows when fueling and spills all over person who is pumping gas.
Fuel spill during fill up.
Fuel gushes out when filling.
Fuel sprays out when filling.
When filling up with fuel at the pump, the automatic shutoff on the pump will click off and then a large amount of fuel will come spilling back out of the vehicle and onto the ground. It does this at almost every fill up regardless of the temperature, pump or gas station used.
When pumping gas the gas does not click off and gas spits out all over me and the Jeep. I just purchased this used from a Ford dealer. I had this same problem with my Dodge durango that had a recall by Chrysler. I checked and there is no recall on the 2010 Jeep Wrangler but have researched and it seems to be a common problem with Jeeps. There should be a recall on them before someone gets hurt. I filled up at different gas stations. I had other people pump the gas, including the mechanic from the dealership I purchased the Jeep at. It did the same thing each time. The only way to avoid it is to not fill up which does not solve the problem.
The Jeep was turned off and stopped at the gas station and when filing up with gas the gas pulsates out of the opening and spews out all over Jeep and ground. Also not sure if related the next day the gas cap code came on.
Gas spills out of filler neck after the pump clicks off. The vehicle is stationary at the gas pump.
Just about every time I fill up my 2010 Jeep Wrangler jk with gas, it spits gas back out of the fill up neck tube. When I get home and park it in the garage it fills the entire house up with gas odor. I am very concerned about our health as this could not be safe. Just a side note, I am also concerned what this will do to my nice paint. I have researched this very good and have read several other cases identical to mine and it seems that this problem needs addressed.
Everytime I fill up with gas at the gas station , it overflows and gets gas all over my car as well as myself.
The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. While attempting to use the passenger side seat belt, the seat belt would not latch to secure the contact. The failure was intermittent. Also, while driving at various speeds, the fuel cap warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the details of the diagnosis could not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
Fuel pukes out of the filler nozzel while filling.
