3 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2019

My hood flutters at any speed above roughly 35mph. It flutters so bad that I believe the rubber straps are going to break which would cause the hood to open and block the windshield while driving. It is 100% worse when passing a tractor trailer or any type of bigger truck.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

Experience major lifting and fluttering of the hood at speeds at or over 65 mph. Most severe when driving down two lane hwy and larger trucks like semis pass oncoming.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

I was driving home, saw smoke and a flame coming from under the hood after turning onto the rural road I live on. The vehicle was in motion when this was noticed. I pulled over and got my children out of the car. As soon as the children were safely out of the vehicle, I noticed that all doors had locked. Shortly after getting my children out and the doors locking, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Fire department was notified and on scene soon after and a police report was also filed. Unsure as to reasoning of why the vehicle started fire. Have never had any issues or engine warning lights display during ownership. Bought this vehicle new. No modifications or add-ons or other service work besides the regular maintenance of the vehicle. 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sahara. Roughly 65,000 - 70,000 miles on the vehicle at the time.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2019

Hood latch failure - traveling on a 2 lane highway at posted speeds of 75 mph, as an 18 wheeler approached/passed and the rush of wind "hit" the vehicle, both exterior rubber hood latches as well as the internal metal hood latch failed, causing the hood to fly up, slamming against the windshield, shattering it and bending the hood over the top frame of the windshield, and the hood did not fall back down. Thankfully the driver was able to control and slow down the vehicle and get safely off the road, then had to climb up to pull the hood off of the top frame of windshield frame. The force of this was so great it completely knocked the rear view mirror off of the windshield.

My daughter had her right hand pinky finger top semi amptuated with a tuft fracture with the rear passenger door of the striker and latch. This happened on Jan 2019 and we paid over 10k in medical bills and her pinky is disfigured. We havent reach out to lawyers but we do see a flaw with the striker and door setup with the 4 door Jeeps that a redesign or cover would help. The issue is any booster seat or child car seat puts a toddler or kids hand/fingers at risk which fall within 1-2 inches from the bracket of the door of the arm rest of most major brand seats. This sits level to the striker and latch. The proximity of the seatbelt and the level at the door striker is a safety concern for little ones sitting in back. There is no guard or barrier to prevent from tiny finger being caught in the stach and being struck by the door or striker. From the inside, with the door closed, you can clearly see the rear door striker and latch. Not only fingers but hair too is a problem. This is concerning to us every time we put our little ones inthe back. If need be I can send a video of it and replicate the risk. I did contact a news agency but waiting to hear from them.

The Jeep Wrangler has no locking hood latch, instead only latches on the outside that use a rubber piece to secure it. Me along with 1000's have had to replace the latches due to stretching that causes hood flutter, resulting in horrible gas mileage and some it has even damaged the hood if not taken care of immediately. Luckily I replaced my latches but not after I had to pay for new latches because of Jeeps defect.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2018

While driving on interstate 40 westbound out of memphis, I found the winds were gusty blowing from the northwest hitting me the right front. Suddenly I was overtaken by a large tractor trailer and my hood started fluttering for a few seconds then stopped. Then it happened several more times, even with no truck passing, just a gust of wind. I stopped to make sure that the rubber latches were secure and they were, nothing was loose and I could not physically move the hood while it was still latched. This behavior has repeated on other occasions involving wind and highway speeds of approximately 65 mph. I'm sure wind was caught under the hood and the pressure was forcing the hood to flutter. The rubber latches did not fully secure the hood to the vehicle enough to prevent the fluttering.

10 Body problem

I drive a Jeep Wrangler that has 70000 miles on it. It is a 4 door vehicle and the mechanisms for the back doors no longer work. While sitting inside the car, I am unable to open the door. I did a bit of research and it seems that the mechanisms in these doors fail often as others report the same issue. A 2016 vehicle with doors that do not function is , on my mind, a safety issue. Chrysler refuses to look into the matter or help in anyway because of the mileage on the vehicle. I hope no one is seriously injured or dies because the door will not open on one of these cars.

11 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2018

Every time it rains mysteriously water gets in through passenger side and floods floor, usually it is just passenger side front but there have been a couple times on driver side - other sites talk about other Jeep Wrangler drivers having this same problem- I went to auto parts and spoke to them and they said there are thousands of complaints on line and I am wondering why this is happening- I have had to take up my carpet because it kept getting wet- and the plugs are in the floor - I have to take them out to get water out .

12 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2017

My 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited was parked in an almost perfectly flat parking lot, locked, with no one in the vehicle. The emergency brake was not on. The keys were not in the vehicle. It began to roll away backwards over a hillside, about a 20 foot drop, into the middle of a busy roadway. The Jeep landed on the back bumper/back door.

13 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2017

2016 Jeep Wrangler rubicon unlimited. Prior to purchase, the traction light was on. Not even 5 miles away from the dealership on the highway, the vehicle has extreme shaking of the steering wheel, the vehicle veers to the right without the steering wheel turning to the right, rear traction slippage, and a lit traction light on the dash. This happened on a dry, smooth, straight- stretch of highway (65-70mph) coming home from purchasing the vehicle. Vehicle was taken to a dealership, where the dealership said the lit traction light was probably the problem and factory reset the vehicle and said the vehicle was perfect. 4 miles into the 7 mile drive home, everything recurred again merging right to take a right hand highway exit -ramp (~67mph, 185mi). Prior to towing the vehicle to another dealership, it is noted that water is accumulating on the driver's side floor and keeps reappearing. The freedom top has been in original factory state and has not been removed and reinstalled. The battery was also dead at time of tow and need jumpstarted. The traction light was lit on the dash after the jumpstart. The the failure mileage is 188 miles.

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2016

When the Jeep is stopped and you want to get out of the front or rear door. At the door threshold when you step on the carpet it will collapse and give you about a 1-inch space which causes you to trip. I ask the service center and Jeep about this issue and they said so what this is the way it was designed.

15 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2016

The freedom top leaks when it rains which causes water to leak into the radio, dashboard and on to the floor. I've had it serviced once and it continues to happen.

16 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Hard top leaks around the freedom panels everytime it rains causing the seats, floor and dashboard to get wet.

17 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2016

My wife noticed hood flutter on our Jeep right after we bought in and immediately found the rugged ridge hood catches on amazon, ordered them (at a cost of $113. 99 + tax to us) and had me install them, before we left las vegas for wisconsin to return home. We were going about 75mph traveling from colorado springs to las vegas, nv, on I-25 and I-40, and even though she is legally blind she could see the hood bouncing around. It seemed worse when traveling into a headwind, but was still noticeable with a crosswind. The problem seemed to be the rubber latches that are used to hold the Jeeps hood down were stretching allowing the hood to move on our 2 day old Jeep.
