I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler and I was trying to get it fixed but the dealership said it was the abs module and that they could not get one in because they are on back order because they warehouse that provides the chips for them burned down. I was then told that it is not promised to when they will be available and then they tried to turn around and ask me did I want to trade it in. So now I am stuck still paying for the Jeep and I can not drive it because of the abs module. I understand life happens but the manufacture should have called a recall or something because people are not going to be able to drive their vehicles but still have to pay for them and I am sure no one wants to start over on a new vehicle when they have paid so much on their current one.
While driving my vehicle on Monday, February 16, 2026 I heard a loud pop come from the front of the vehicle. Right after that smoke began to come through the hood vents. I stopped the vehicle to inspect and at that point the engine compartment was burning heavily. I could barely get out of the vehicle and away before the whole front end of the vehicle was engulfed with fire and heavy black smoke. It looked as if the fire started somewhere on the righthand side of the engine compartment because the right front tire was the first to blow out in the fire. The vehicle is with the insurance company to inspect, but it was in perfect running condition, all maintenance performed. There were no dash warning lights that came on, no odd sounds heard and the vehicle ran until I stopped and shut it office. There has to be something that was wrong with the manufacturing of this specific engine to make a loud pop and burn as hot as it did. I wanted to report this before the vehicle is sent away to be demolished due to it being a complete loss.
Anti lock brake control module (c2200). Cannot get part anywhere, on vehicle appears codes preventing cruise control and other safety issues.
Oil holder thing had to be replaced twice within a few months for the part leaving oil onto the engine.
Abs control module cannot get the part so I would think this would be a safety issue because abs is not working. I know alot of other people who have a Jeep have the same proplem my part has been on back order for 4 months now. So I'm concerned about not having abs thank you.
Abs module not working and Jeep does not have a solution.
Abs and traction control lights recently started coming on upon starting the vehicle. This morning, I took to repair shop and had brakes checked. I was told nothing was wrong, that brake pads look good, brake fluid level is good. When I returned home, I checked the nthsa website to check for recalls on these modules. Saw another complaint regarding the exact same thing I am experiencing. That person stated that the dealership indicated that no fix is available as yet due to a supposed redesign of these components. So now what? I have no choice but to drive a vehicle that has abs and traction control safety systems that are unavailable. While on the site, I also checked for recalls and found 5 recalls for which I was never notified, including air bag non-deployment. Great. I want to get rid of this vehicle, but alas, interest rates make it impossible.
The airbag light came on, then went off. This happened for a while, meanwhile, the horn stopped working and the controls in the steering wheel were incapable of anything for the radio. I was informed it was a bad steering clock spring and it needed to be replaced. Part # 5156106ag we searched for a recall, and there is one for the 2016 Jeep Wrangler for a failing steering clock spring, only my car’s VIN number didn’t match the recall. It appears the previous owner had an issue with the airbags, that was subsequently repaired before I owned this vehicle. I believe it was repaired incorrectly, or is still faulty, as it is broken once again. The coincidence of this being recalled for the same make and model, but not for my specific vehicle is difficult to comprehend. What automobile has more than one need to repair airbags that were never deployed? I have not gotten it repaired yet because the dealer is charging greater than $900 for just the part. I found it online for less than $200.
My first issue is my windshield wiper fluid only works or comes out once every couple days. My 2nd issue is my tpm system has been blinking and does not show the pressure on very hot days. Both issues have been going on for over a year. 3rd issue is I can no longer use the am/fm radio. 4th issue is my brakes went out due to a faulty rear passenger side brake hose in March. Over the past 2 weeks something has been wrong with using my brakes. Today I just found out both front brake hoses are defective. Due to these defective hoses, my rotors also need to be replaced. My automotive mechanic said this is very common. My car only has 54k miles on it. I feel like these issues should not be happening on a car that only has 54k miles on it. I feel like many children are in danger because of these hoses being defective. What if a parent has this happen and they are unable to stop on the interstate or anywhere really. I almost wrecked when my brakes went out in March, but luckily I was able to stop before hitting anything. The car behind me almost hit me as well. Can you please investigate these issues as soon as possible before anyone gets seriously hurt. Thank you.
There is a current recall for the rhd version of my Jeep for the clockspring. The bad clockspring causes many issues including air bag deployment issues. This issue does also affect the lhd. I’m currently dealing with it myself.
Stopped at traffic light. Hit from behind, into vehicle in front of said vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Police report filed; insurance representative, Jeep dealership all have inspected. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. Rear ended at traffic light. Front end and back end damaged- Jeep was undrivable, wrecker service removed from the accident scene. Driver was transported by ambulance and admitted to the hospital.
Vehicle under-body gas tank skid plate is rusting from the inside out. My mechanic has advised me that he has seen many of the jk model Jeep Wranglers gas skid plates rust away from the inside out. Due to the nature of its location the inner portion rusting away is difficult to see this happening. Should this rust away and let go it could result in the gas tank falling from the vehicle at operating speeds on public roads. I was urged to report this as a safety problem.
I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that I purchased in 2017. The vehicle does not have over 45,000 miles on it. . . Yet it would not crank. . . . . When it finally cranked, within a few feet it completely shut down. . . . The dealer stated that it was the tipm. That needs to be replaced. . . . . After reading the complaint comments on several sites. . . I wanted to know why this part has not been recalled to date. This repair is very costly to me, and during these hard economic times, this process has been extremely stressful. The dealer stated that it might take up to 4 weeks to get my Jeep back. . This is soooo unfair that I would have to incorporate an additional cost that should have been recalled already. . . . . Recall this Jeep Wrangler ASAP please!!!. . Thank you, cheryl cosby 469-556-0521.
Windshield broke and it happened previously with a older Jeep pebble on the highway likely kicked up and hit the windshield I believe because the windshield is flat there is an increased risk of breakage.
Abs control module has been out for almost 2 years. Jeep will not make/replace this part, although promised it would become available for this entire 2 year timeframe.
Driving at 50 mph on high-speed concrete highway during a thunderstorm, my abs and traction control lights came on and stayed on for a few minutes. In those few minutes, my car started slowly fish-tailing, so I pulled on to the side of the interstate. I turned off the engine completely and restarted, as well as other resets, to try to turn the abs and traction control lights off. I started on to the highway again and got up to 50 mph again with both lights still on. Again, my vehicle started shifting in the lane, so I pulled off the highway again and turned the car completely off. After a few more minutes, I restarted the vehicle engine, both lights remained on, and I got on to an asphalt surface for the remainder of my trip. Within half a mile, both lights turned off and the vehicle felt more secure on the road way. For the remainder of my drive, both lights remained off, but I did go through at least 4 standing puddles of water with no other issues with traction.
Air bad light is on all the time and the horn does not work.
Vehicle stalls while driving. Sometimes can restart. Sometimes takes a few minutes to restart. No issues prior. No known cause. On freeway doing 65 mph then lost all power. It was difficult to get to safety and I couldn’t move all the way off the road. It’s happened twice.
I was told that my oil filter housing adapter has a major leak. But, the part is on back order. There are 40,000 plus on back order and the number was originally 60,000. It just seems that this seems to be a common problem and that there should be a recall. My engine could seize while driving if I happen to run out of oil and it could not only injure myself but someone else and I have no way of getting the part anytime soon.
Complete loss of power on highway multiple times. Every light on dash flashes and headlights flicker.
My wife has had her gas pedal stick on her on three separate occasions, and I have had it stick on me once (10-4-20). The first time it did it to her was about a month or so ago, and then it did it to her twice this morning on her way to work (10-9-20). It seems to only do it under a hard acceleration. The pedal will drop to the floor, rpm will shoot up, and it will not disengage for a good 10 seconds or so. I have verified that the floor matt is not obstructing the path of the pedal. This seem sto be a common problem among the jk Jeeps, but nothing has been done about it.
When I am turning left the abs lights and stability lights turn on. There is also a weird noise. I went to a mechanic and they said it is a clock spring assembly. They also said it is common for the Jeep Wranglers to have them replaced.
A common number 4 cylinder misfire that seems to common on all Jeep forums. The code was found to be a no compression in the cylinder. Although so many people complain of this issue, Jeep doesn't do anything about this? my engine is 4 years old and I'm being told I need a new engine and it's no longer under warranty.
When I put the Jeep in reverse and start backing out of driveway it stutters and dies. You can start it right back up and it may do it again or will run correctly. It has also back out of driveway properly and then stutters and died when put in drive.
While driving on the highway on the carpool lane, going at a speed of about 70 mph, I drove over a pothole/road imperfection and the Jeep began shaking severely to a point of almost losing control or causing an accident. During the shaking the wheels swerve side to side and causes the Jeep to become jumpy and rattle. In order to safely stop the shaking and not lose control I had to slow down until coming to a complete stop on the carpool lane, I could not pull over due to no shoulder. The cars behind saw the shaking and slowed to keep a safe distance, however if they hadn't it could've caused an accident. During the shaking I also have to grab tightly to the steering wheel so as to not veer on to vehicles or walls next to me. I managed to get out of the carpool lane and made my way to the farthest right lane and drove no faster than 60 mph for fear of the shaking/losing control to reoccur.
Recently while driving on the freeway at speeds ranging from 60 and above, we have experienced severe shaking on the 2016 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited that causes us to pull over and come to a stop while still on the highway. Shaking has occurred on November 24th, 2019 after driving over potholes/road joints on the freeway; and again, on December 26, 2019 on a straight surface on the freeway. One has to hold on tight to the steering wheel so as to keep from veering out of control and onto another vehicle/road separator because the Jeep's tires begin to swerve side to side rapidly. The swerving tires causes the Jeep to rattle and become jumpy. The severe shaking also feels as if a tire is coming off and will break down then and there. Slowing one's speed and slowly pressing on the break helps slow and eventually stop the shaking once completely stopped. I do not feel safe driving the Jeep and must be extra attentive at all times now for fear of losing control. The root of the problem is unknown.
The vehicle leaks water from the front doors and fills the floor with water when it rains. I took it to the dealership last winter under the manufacturer warranty but it started leaking again this winter. Upon doing a google search I discovered this a pervasive wide spread problem with alot of Jeep Wrangler owners. I asked my sister inlaw if her new Jeep was leaking and it is. I also went into some Jeep forums and discovered that this a very common issue due to a design flaw in the way the doors seal and the way the design disperses water. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it and my concern is the carpet rotting out, mold as well as the floor pan corroding as noted by other Jeep owners.
I started my Jeep. After a few minutes I could smell smoke and something burning. The alarm started going off, wipers came on, radio etc. Smoke came inside cab . I tried to shut everything off but it wasn’t working. I started seeing flames around the hood. My husband was able to disconnect the battery and the fire died out. Insurance would not cover it and said it was electrical. The fuse box was melted and wire harnesses. The vehicle was right by our garage and could’ve caught our house on fire. My son and I were in the vehicle when the fire started. Thank god we weren’t hurt. I did report this but was told it wasn’t Jeeps fault. A week later another Jeep caught fire in the small town I live in. Something isn’t right.
Driving on a paved road when engine died. Fire broke out instantly from the front right consuming entire vehicle. We had just left a dirt road onto the paved road, drove about 200 yards when the incident occurred.
2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon caught fire and completely burned to the ground while parked.
After turning into a large parking lot from a city street while still driving the 2016 Jeep Wrangler jku sport's check engine light came on followed abruptly by the engine quiting and numerous dash lights illuminating. The now dead vehicle immediately coasted to a stop as smoke starting billowing from the right side of the engine compartment and the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames. This Jeep was purchased brand new 3 years and 3 weeks ago and had less than 16,000 miles on it. Two weeks prior to the fire, the battery abruptly died and would not hold a charge. After a new top-of-the-line battery was installed, the dash red security light would flash constantly while the engine was running. Just one day prior to the fire the Jeep was serviced at the dealership to accomplish two safety recall items related to an airbag wiring harness and airbag module. The Jeep's wireless control module (wcm) was diagnosed to have an internal failure but was not replaced at that time due to a warranty dispute and also availability of the module. Prior to the battery failure, which was just 1 week beyond the 3-year warranty date, this 2016 Jeep Wrangler was in excellent condition and had zero mechanical or electrical issues and had not received any servicing outside of routine oil changes and service checks. The fire started quickly and burned extremely hot burning through the firewall and into the cabin in a matter of minutes. Fortunately the occupant was able to egress without injury. This Jeep, with less than 16,000 miles, is a total loss. The hotspot on the hood appears to be around the location of the fuse box. Attempts to extinguish the engine compartment fire with a portable fire extinguisher were futile.
I was driving home, saw smoke and a flame coming from under the hood after turning onto the rural road I live on. The vehicle was in motion when this was noticed. I pulled over and got my children out of the car as quickly as possible. As soon as the children were safely out of the vehicle, I noticed that all doors had locked. Shortly after getting my children out, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Fire department was notified and on scene soon after and a police report was also filed. Unsure as to reasoning of why the vehicle started fire. Have never had any issues or engine warning lights display during ownership. Bought this vehicle new. No modifications or add-ons or other service work besides the regular maintenance of the vehicle. 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sahara. Roughly 65,000 - 70,000 miles on the vehicle at the time.

On cold days after the Jeep has been sitting overnight, the engine will stall when the transmission is shifted into drive or reverse when the brake pedal is firmly pressed. This happens when the Jeep is started and it makes no difference if the car is running for 30 seconds before it is shifted or running for 3 minutes, the engine will stall when shifting into drive or reverse. If the brake is not firmly pressed the engine won't stall when the transmission is shifted into drive or reverse. This causes the Jeep will lurch forward, for drive, or backward, for reverse,.
I awoke this morning to find my vehicle running inside our parked garage. The remote start somehow had triggered unintentionally.
