1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2020

Sun visor falls out of the plastic bracket. Is now held in place only by the electrical wire. The small plastic clip holding it in place has broken. Appears by on-line complaints to be a problem experienced by many! many broke well before 40k miles mine broke about 1000 miles past warrantee ended. Was driving at the time. I'm actually expecting the passenger side visor to break any time. In my opinion, horrible design flaw.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2020

I took my Jeep in to have it looked at because it started making a clicking sound. They told me I needed to file an insurance claim to repair the Jeep. The actual wording was "upon inspection found impact damage on lower right control arm. Drop down shackle bracket from frame has broken at weld points. Recommend taking to the body shop for repairs. " the service man told me I would have noticed when I did this. . . I have not done any off roading recently and have certainly not done anything to cause this issue. Then I looked at the issue. . . . . I also had a professional welder look at it. . . The weld was not done correctly. There is no welding marks on the second part of the weld.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2019

Issue with the uconnect operating system. System continually freezes and fails to respond while driving. Backup camera freezes and at times does not turn on when backing. Apple car play and android auto malfunctions. The calls stay connected but drop from the in-car audio back to the phone forcing you to unplug and then plug back in the phone while driving. System operates most of the cars electrical functions. Been in for service 3 times and have shown proof of malfunction and Chrysler and dealer refuse to replace unit. Chrysler says the phones and carriers are the issue. System fails with both iphone 7 on verizon and samsung note 8 on t-mobile. It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle in georgia and use your cell phone at the same time and the system failure puts you at risk when you are required to unconnect and reconnect phone while driving.

Jeep was recalled in October over a track bar weld issue where some vehicles we improperly welded. Mine had to go to the dealer 3x as the dealer was unsure what to do. Was told it was fine. Just received another recall that the recall may not have been done properly and will need to be reinspected. I have 0 faith in the safety of this Jeep.

Frame welds are pitted, rusting, incomplete, and have numerous inclusions and porosity. This is all over the frame. Included is a picture of a weld on a body mount. Appears to be cracked. The dealership where we bought the vehicle and Jeep both looked at the vehicle and say it is safe and normal.

11 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2018

Hello. This is regarding my 2018 Jeep Wrangler jl rubicon. I have been reading extensively about the frame welding recall (issued 10/5/18) that unfortunately does include my vehicle. We spent over fifty five thousand dollars on this Jeep, and are extremely disappointed in the build quality. Just to make sure that the welds are bad, I looked under the Jeep and several extremely important welds (some involving the steering bracket) were not done properly, and will fail. Also, some of the welds have several pocks in them and will develop rust. If a weld isn't done properly (or repaired) properly, it will fail and that for fca to release a vehicle, in this condition to the general public is disgusting. I have a wife and a baby on the way my wife no longer feels safe in our new Jeep. I am writing you to voice my concern and warn others about this unsafe vehicle. We no longer drive the Jeep and it sits in our driveway. I cannot drive a vehicle that may fail structurally and injure or kill us.

12 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2018

Welds on track bar mount not lined up correctly. Throughout the rest of the frame, lots of slag, misaligned welds, bad penetration, malformed weld caps, spatter, and porosity.

13 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2018

There has been a major recall related to the track bar welds on the jl model Wranglers and when I search my VIN it is not included but many of the welds on my frame are rusting already and appear to be "bad" welds. I am a professional welder and I know what a good weld looks like. Please help me address the issue with the many "bad" welds on my brand new Jeep.

14 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

Track bar bracket and other welds are very poorly done, which can lead to serious malfunction or injury. Welds have poor porosity with pinholes, slag inclusions, lack of fusion, underfill, etc. The welds on my new 2018 Jeep rubicon jlu that cost $52,000 are all malformed. I don't see how there could have been an inspection pass on these welds, as they are dangerous. I've had them inspected by two professional welders with a combined 45 years of experience and they both immediately agreed. One user on the jl Wrangler forums with very similar welds had a complete failure of the track bar bracket at a higher rate of speed (highway posted speeds) and was somehow able to get the vehicle to the side of the road without killing himself or anyone else. This post can be found on jl Wrangler forums dot com, search for "track bar sheared off at the weld" the track bar bracket weld on my Jeep doesn't cover the top of the bracket but instead the weld sits almost on top of the bracket edge as you can see from the added pictures. The side welds are simply weld blobs and do not follow any weld standards. This is simply dangerous and shows that the vehicle was not inspected when leaving this stage of the build from fca. Just to note, most all other welds that were visually inspected are just as poorly done.

15 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2018

Welds on 2018 Jeep Wrangler jlu sport frame are bad in many ways. Problems include: -incomplete weld if track bar weld which could cause failure and loss of steering control -porous welds - many of the welds are porous -lack of penetration -overweld aka weld drip -nearly 90% of the welds have weld slag that was not cleaned off before painting. Resulting in parts of the weld not being painted and prone to rust and eventual faulure -there is also a great deal of weld spray that should have been cleaned off -there are also welds that were not completed. . . For instance there is one on each side in the rear where they only welded half of the tubing that should have received a complete weld around its circumference. Welds were examined by prestige Jeep and a district rep who said their were fine however this was not a certified welding inspector. Case was brought to the attention of Jeep cares/Jeep waves who looked over some 160 photos I sent of the welds at which point they said this isn't a concern. Irregardless of the safety issues. . . At minimum there should be paint on the welds on my frame. The safety issues themselves are frightening as one other owner of the same vehicle has already had his track bar bracket break off while driving down the freeway. He is lucky to be alive. I have many photos that I am happy to send in however, your site only allows 5. This Jeep is 3 weeks old at the time of these photos and has seen rain 4 times. As you can see in the pictures there are holes and porosity in these welds. The copper spots on the welds are slag that should have been cleaned off before paint as paint will not adhere strongly to slag and when the slag falls off it will leave the welds uncovered. Jeep is refusing to take care of the issue and I am now searching for a certified welding inspector to examine before bring it to the associated press.
