The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with instrument cluster failure. The contact was informed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to contact the dealer for assistance. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under a recall. The contact referenced an unknown recall howeve,r the VIN was not under recall. In addition, the contact was informed that most likely the failure was the result of rodents chewing on the wires, and that the repair was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 49,272.

2 Back Over Prevention problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2023

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while the vehicle was being operated, the digital screen blacked out and then showed a blue screen while shifting into reverse. The failure occurred occasionally. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the failure became a consistent failure. The local dealer was contacted and advised the contact to detach the negative battery cable as a temporary repair; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 24v436000 (back over prevention) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
