Service Brakes problem #1

On August 12, 2025, the brakes on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler failed and resulted in a low speed collision. Brakes were being applied to stop for a traffic light and when I realized the vehicle was not stopping I pushed pedal to floor twice to try and stop vehicle. After the accident the vehicle was towed to tate Jeep dealership who could not duplicate the incident or identify why pressure in brake line dropped. Air bags did not deploy.

Service Brakes problem #2

I was traveling at 80mph on an interstate in the fast lane. There were only two lanes. Road was straight with a slight incline. Temperature was 98 degrees. I had been traveling for 10 hours that day. I hear the same bing chime the Jeep makes when it switches from electric to hybrid mode. I was already in hybrid mode and I experienced a lost of power. My vehicle started to coast which it never does because the regenerative breaks always slow me down. I noticed a message on my display but I could not read it as I used the momentum I had to reach the shoulder of the slow lane and coast to a stop. I put the car in park. The message was gone. A few seconds after putting the vehicle in park, it restarted and behaved normally again. This happened one day after being serviced at the dealer. I have all recalls completed including one that covers this issue. I took the Jeep in to be checked and they were unable to read codes or detect any issues.

Service Brakes problem #3

While braking (in hybrid mode, with max regen braking on), the car begins to lurch forward with significant force as it comes to a stop. This seems to be an issue with max regen, as acceleration and braking is overall much smoother with the feature off. This has happened sometimes before, but is difficult to replicate on demand. No warning lights on dash, and has not been confirmed by a dealer. There were no warning lights or messages, and has happened since purchase of the vehicle in June 2022. This instance was so severe that the vehicle almost crashed into the house, as I was pulling into the driveway and braking. Upon researching online, others have reported this issue, with some involved in motor vehicle crashes because of it. Clearly a safety issue that requires attention.

Service Brakes problem #4

When applying brakes at low speed (under 20mph) pedal feels soft and brakes do not engage as expected- vehicles travels further than anticipated. At times engine races and vehicle surges forward, other times abs malfunctions, causing tires to squeal and vehicle to lurch. There is no reason for the abs to engage when traveling under 20mph on an even, dry road. I have had other issues such as overheating, which the dealership observed, but the computer had no trouble codes for, so I would be happy to have it inspected. The vehicle surging forward when brakes are applied is a safety concern, as is unreliable braking and the abs engaging inappropriately. I have not been to the dealer for this issue yet, I was able to document the occurrence from my dashboard cam this weekend. I have video in my dashcam with the squealing and lurching that I can't upload.

Service Brakes problem #5

Brakes stopped functioning. Jeep started accelerating. Very unsafe speeds approaching a school zone. Eventually brakes reengaged and then engine shut down.

Service Brakes problem #6

I have a 2022 Wrangler 4xe. This weekend I rear ended a car in stop and go traffic. When I used the brake it actually felt like the car jumped forward a bit. I had to stomp on the brake pedal again as if my first attempt had no grab. More details. . . I was in hybrid mode with <1% battery status and max regen was on. I was going less than 10 miles an hour. Jeep has a max regeneration function that uses the engine to generate an ev battery recharge. I understand that the max regen sort of turns off when you are rolling at really low speeds, but it seems the transition to/from this is rough on the transmission or something. This only happens at low speeds (in parking lots, etc) this behavior happens intermittently but, this is the first time I was not able to stop completely before an impact occured.

Service Brakes problem #7

There is a confirmed recall 92a for the gear position sensor on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler. I took it to river oaks dealership in houston to have the recall work done in March 2024. They told me the work was complete; I returned to pick up my vehicle and found out the work had not been done because they didn't have the parts, so I took my vehicle home. I'm now told that they actually ordered the parts for the recall without telling me, and I was never informed that the parts arrived at the dealership or were going to be returned after that. I have now brought my vehicle to a different dealership (helfman in houston) for a repair and to have that recall fixed. They are unable to order the parts from Jeep to fix the recall, because river oaks had previously ordered them under my VIN and have most likely returned them. No one at river oaks is willing to help in any way. The recall manager says I should have known that they received the parts in stock after I left without any kind of notification, and the parts managers won't answer or return my calls. Jeep corporate has stated that they cannot cancel the previous parts order, but that river oaks can cancel the previous order so that helfman can put in a new one with my VIN. River oaks has denied this. At this point, I cannot get a mandated safety recall fixed on my Jeep because of the previous and ongoing actions of river oaks dealership. My options are apparently to leave it at the dealership indefinitely or take it back with a safety malfunction.

Service Brakes problem #8

I was stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake, and had been for at least 30 seconds. The Jeep all the sudden revved and started moving forward. I continued to push on the brake but the Jeep didn't stop. I attempted to turn the Jeep to the right to avoid the car in front of me, but was unable and slammed into the back of the car. Despite my foot being on the brake the Jeep continued to rev even after I hit the car. I put the Jeep in park and it stopped revving. A police report was filed. There was damage caused to the car in front of me. The Jeep has not been able to be taken to the dealership yet for inspection.

Service Brakes problem #9

I have been leasing this vehicle for approximately 3 years and have experienced constant engine problems; knocking and jolting forward. There have been four safety recalls and I mentioned the engine issues at the dealership. I was told not use the electric engine and keep the car in gas mode. This has not fixed the problem; it jolts forward randomly which is very scary. I only have this one vehicle and a small child. I am not comfortable driving this car with my son in it. And now I received another recall notice for severe fire risk and no remedy available. I am making (expensive) lease payments for a car that is not safe to drive.

Service Brakes problem #10

Jan/2023 at 55mph, a vehicle swerved into my lane which required immediate braking. Applying the brake, the Jeep engine surged, and Jeep would not slow down. I reapplied brake and initially it didn't slow my vehicle. After re-reapplying the brakes, the Jeep responded to the braking. On Mar 28, 2023 traveling approximately 20 mph in a vehicle round-about, following a pickup truck which was two car lengths ahead of me and suddenly the pickup stopped for a pedestrian. I applied my brakes on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler and the engine surged, the Jeep sped forward, I reapplied the brake but my Jeep wouldn't stop until it crashed into the rear of the pickup. There was no damage to my Jeep but some rear bumper damage to the pickup. During both incidents the ess (engine start/stop) was disabled.

Service Brakes problem #11

Vehicle was being driven at about 10 mph or less in a busy and congested area. Left turn was made. There was an immediate loss of braking and steering with this turn. The vehicle engine began to roar and the tachometer went to highest number. Just about all warning lights on the dash were flashing and there was audible beeping as well. The ignition was turned off but all warning lights continued to flash and there were audible beeping. The vehicle had locked itself into an "auto park" mode, and it was unable to be driven or placed into gear. The battery was disconnected, allowing the computer to reset. Although the vehicle continued to malfunction, I was able to drive it out of the main traffic and into a parking lot. A wrecker was called, and the vehicle was transported to a local Jeep dealership. The local dealership kept the vehicle for several days, and tested it extensively. They were able to reproduce the loss of steering. They found some erroneous solders on a component, the "star connector". It is believed that this may have shorted something in the electrical system. The safety of myself and family and all others in the vicinity of the Jeep 4xe were in grave danger when the initial brake, steering and engine failure occurred. Other people may well have been run over during this event. The problem of loss of steering was reproduced by the Jeep dealership that worked on the 4xe, and they feel that it was corrected by replacing the star connector. I have paperwork from the dealership to document the incident. The vehicle is available for inspection and I currently have to drive it, although I have loss of conficence and feel afraid to drive it.

Service Brakes problem #12

The Wrangler accelerated while doing regenerative braking or while my foot was on the brake. This caused it to hit a building. It is available for inspection. My safety and my child's safety was put at risk when contact was made with a building. Those inside the building were also at risk. The problem has not been reproduced yet as the incident just happened. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. Insurance will be inspecting. Police were called to scene of accident. I will file a claim with Jeep as well. I was running it in full electric mode and I don't remember any issues. The vehicle was just re wired as well.
