Vehicle gas/brake pedal to close causing the other to be applied by mistake causing accidents.
While driving approximately 35 mph on a 4 lane major roadway, the vehicle suddenly shut off in motion, resulting in a complete loss of power. This included loss of power steering and the abs system. The vehicle effectively locked up, and a message appeared on the display instructing me to place the vehicle in park. As a result of the shutdown, the vehicle lost all propulsion and came to a complete stop in an active travel lane of a high-speed roadway. There was no ability to maneuver the vehicle out of traffic. I could not steer it to safety, restart it, or shift it into neutral. The vehicle was fully immobilized in the roadway. This left me and my family stopped in an active lane of traffic, exposed to oncoming vehicles traveling at highway speeds, creating an immediate and serious risk of collision. At the time of the incident, I had two children in the vehicle. We remained in this dangerous position until police arrived and an hour after. The vehicle ultimately had to be removed from the roadway with assistance, as it was not operable. During the event, there was a total loss of electrical power. The critical safety systems, including brake lights, were not functioning during the shutdown. After attempting to reset the battery, the vehicle continued to malfunction. It would not properly turn on or off, wouldn't shift into neutral and remained unable to be moved. This is the third occurrence of this; once was while driving at highway speeds. All warning lights, including the battery light, were illuminated. The vehicle is subject to an active recall; however, I have been informed that there is currently no available remedy . Despite this, the dealership and stellantis advised that the vehicle was safe to operate. Given the repeated loss of power while driving, the inability to move the vehicle out of an active roadway, and the absence of an available repair, this vehicle presents a serious safety risk and I should be able to turn this vehicle in with refund.
While braking at low speed approaching a stoplight, the vehicle did not slow as expected when I removed my foot from the accelerator. As I applied increasing brake pressure, the engine revved and the vehicle continued to move forward into the intersection. The brakes appeared to be working but had to counter engine power, and the tires briefly chirped. I shifted into neutral to stop the vehicle and then backed out of the intersection. If another vehicle had been stopped in front of me, a collision would likely have occurred. The vehicle was in fuel and oil refresh mode (form) with max regenerative braking enabled at the time of the incident. There were no warning lights or messages. I provided dashcam video to the dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the condition but reported that stored vehicle data showed abs activation during the incident. The dealer has documented the event as a safety concern and reported it to the manufacturer. This appears to involve unintended forward movement or application of engine power while braking, creating a significant safety risk.
I was pulling into my garage with my foot on the break going very slow, all of a sudden the Jeep jumped forward smashing into my garage wall into the family room. Filed a claim with insurance company for both damage to car and damage to home. Claim number for car: 26-01382 claim number for home: 26-01383.
Front brakes and rotors 0n 2024 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4xe had to be replaced at 16,926 miles due to disintegration, rusting, and break down of components. No prior warnings or messages. Damage to front braking system put vehicle occupants at risk due to difficulty stopping. Defect identified by dealer and components replaced at cost to consumer of $394. 95.
Hybrid mode, parking vehicle 2mph stopping/breaking. Vehicle lurches forward toward trees. I continue to apply breaks place into park and pull up break, while turning wheel to left doing circles to avoid collision w anything for approximately 30 feet. The hybrid mode seemed to go from electric to gas, which may have triggered the erratic jolt forward?.
The contact rented a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while reversing, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed accelerated forward instead, and the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed continued to increase. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact's vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front of the contact's vehicle and pushed the vehicle into a nearby canal. In addition, the contact's vehicle crashed into the canal. No injuries were sustained. The contact stated that everything happened so fast. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The enterprise rental company was contacted. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN unavailable.
My vehicle shut off as I was accelerating.
Jeep 4xe complete loss of power while driving almost caused a huge accident. No power, no power steering totally dangerous and they knew damn well this would happen but didn't alert customers!!!.
Car stopped dead as I merged into a major highway and said hybrid battery issue and requested to be moved into park. I turned off the car and on and put it in esave mode to move it - very dangerous.
I was driving the Jeep in my neighborhood when the dashboard flickered and it told me to put the vehicle in park and press the "start" button (same message it would give when you get in the car and get ready to start it, except it was already running and I was driving). Vehicle seemed to lose some power assist features like steering. I wasn't going fast, so it was hard to tell exactly what switched off, but the brakes felt stiff as well. I was able to stop the Jeep, turned it off, and then back on. . . Which *seemed* to resolve the issue but then I had a check engine light on. I have a small diagnostic tool so I plugged it in and it give me 3 codes about control modules experiencing an "improper wake up" (whatever that means). Thankful I was not on the interstate at highway speeds or it could have been very dangerous.
My vehicle completely shut down while driving after a reported connect update issue on 10/10. I was driving down the highway on 10/12 and it completely lost power.
Saturday morning, approx 10:00 am vehicle screen showed it was updated u-conn (not sure exactly) when update finished vehicle lost power while driving (*note 4xe hybrid electric Jeep in hybrid mode). Every light on instrument cluster lit up. I was able to coast to the side of the road and park. The display said to place vehicle in park and hit start. I was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle would drive for 3-5 minutes and then completely lose electrical power again. This is very scary to happen while driving, losing power steering, power brakes and being a sitting duck in traffic! when we looked on line, it appears this is an issue with 4xe electric Jeeps and many, many people have had the same issue. We were very lucky to have not had a major collision. Jeep needs to be accountable for this safety issue, how many people were not as lucky to avoid a collision. Completely unacceptable.
On [xxx] Jeep sent out a software update to my car. I did not agree to the update but it obviously updated my vehicle. The next day I went to drive the vehicle and after 1/4 mile the car started flashing the check engine light, it said to put in park and the vehicle died including no braking or steering. It happened three more times before I could get it to a safe place to park. Since it was a Saturday and I was in western north carolina, there were no Jeep technicians available to help me. I hit sos on my Jeep and connected to stellantis. They were having to send a tow truck. I finally read a blog where someone figured out how to rest the uconnect system. ( the one Jeep recommended did not work). It worked and the check engine light came off. However, this was extremely dangerous and irresponsible of Jeep. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
After my uconnect software updated today 10/11/25 my car has not been driving right since. I can’t drive more than 20ft without it stopping flashing “shift to p” all my gears are lighting up I put the car into park with my foot on the break it flashes 3 different other issues then reverts back to my mph, I am not able to shift it back into drive I have to then turn the car completely off then turn it back on shift it into drive. Happened on a major road with heavy traffic not safe. I managed to do a hard factory rest and drove it on e-save which I was able to get the car to my house without having to pay $350 for towing. I’m praying it can get me to work on Monday and this will be fixed by then because I cannot afford to miss work let alone pay for a rental due to Jeeps mistake!! I pay a lot of money for this car which is a 2024 Jeep Wrangler sahara 4xe with less than 20k miles never had any other issues with it until now. Very disappointed!.
I was driving my car and came to a near stop. When I attempted to drive the car again the vehicle displayed a message to shift to park and then restart the vehicle. I did that and was able to drive another 30 miles home. The next day, I drove the car 20 miles to get an oil change. When I drove a mile away from the oil change location the car displayed a shift to park and restart message again. After that, I was able to drive the car 20 miles home. About an hour later, I drove 1/2 mile up the road and the car again displayed a shift to park message and restart as I was driving up to 50 mph on the highway. I was able to get the car home, but the message displayed again twice. The car shuts off if you do not follow the instructions so as I was driving up to 50 mph the car lost power creating a very dangerous driving scenario.
After an update Jeep sent out on October 10, 2025, my Wrangler suddenly stalled while driving. I lost power steering, brakes, and total control of the vehicle. It forced me to shift to park. I had to drive home in limp mode, barely making it. My car is unable to be driven. It is a hazard. Thousands of others are having the issue as well — while on the freeway. This is deadly. Jeep has not put out any information. We are left without vehicles.
Car is locking up and saying “press p to start” and shift gear lights start blinking. Check engine light is also on.
In October, my son was driving our Jeep Wrangler 4xe when the vehicle suddenly lost power steering, acceleration, and braking while multiple warning lights were flashing on the dashboard. The vehicle became very difficult to control and created a serious safety concern. We have a video showing all of the warning lights flashing during this incident (it is not allowing me to upload a video below as the file is too large) the vehicle also currently has recalls and service campaigns, including recall 78c related to a potential engine defect and hbmhcp related to the hybrid battery system. These issues make us feel the vehicle is unsafe and not reliable to drive. The recalls and issues have also affected our ability to use the vehicle as intended and have reduced the value of the vehicle. We are concerned that this vehicle may have a safety defect related to the engine or hybrid/electrical system that could cause loss of power, steering, braking, or vehicle control. We have been told there is currently no fix for these issues and that we should continue driving the vehicle, to park outside and not charge it. This makes us feel the vehicle may be unsafe and unreliable to drive. We are making monthly payments for a vehicle that does not behave as intended.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN [xxx] ) has two active recalls (25v-741 and 25v-766). The battery does not charge, and the vehicle has braking issues by itself. Dealership attempted repairs multiple times with no resolution. The vehicle may catch fire and is unsafe to drive or charge. I’m requesting NHTSA review and manufacturer action information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I had just left my home and got up to about 20-25 mph when my Jeep Wrangler willy’s 4xe suddenly and abruptly came to a full stop causing the tires to lock up as well and screech to a stop then it shut down and I had to restart it. It jolted my upper body and head forward and could’ve been much more dangerous if I were on a busy road or if anyone were driving behind me. I took it to my local dealership and they were able to recreate the issue after driving it and it shut off just as it did for me. They brought it in and seem to have primarily done some software update but didn’t express much confidence in the repair. They just said there were no dct’s but there was some software updates and that should fix it. They also claimed there were no recalls present on the vehicle which is even more scary. So the only way there fixing this if they even are fixing it is it already happened to you and put you in danger.
I turned into my driveway and the Jeep accelerated significantly and the brakes did not work even when I pumped them. The result was that the Jeep crashed into my garage door and house!.
I was driving and the abs lights and other lights came on and the brakes went out. I had to push the brakes to the floor before it gradually stopped. If there was someone in front of me when when the brakes went out I could have died. The car was taken to the dealer where they replaced the brakes but Jeep won’t buy the car back. I only had the Jeep for 2 months and bought it new.
On a hybrid mode, drive gear at less than 10mph to park the vehicle. No engine warning lights, and no unusual signs. The car suddenly accelerated as I hit the brakes. At the time of the acceleration, the gasoline engine immediately came on and vehicle only came to stop as I stomped on the brakes for the second time, causing property damage.
On 10/21/2023 I went to turn on my car and shift it to drive when the shifter was unable to move. The shifter was stuck in park and could not move out of any other gear. Check engine light and power steering light were on. Additionally the following message showed up on the dash - "service electronic stability" several tow truckers were called and the vehicle was unable to be put into neutral even after attempting to use the override cable in the shifter. The vehicle had to be dragged onto a flatbed and was towed to the dealership. Per the dealer it sound like the vehicle need a full transmission replacement and a computer replacement.
