Suspension problem #1

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the vehicle experiences a severe front-end steering and suspension oscillation commonly referred to as “death wobble. ” after driving over uneven pavement, bridge joints, potholes, or rough highway surfaces at highway speeds, the steering wheel begins violently shaking side-to-side and the front suspension appears to oscillate uncontrollably. The vehicle becomes difficult to steer and maintain lane control until speed is significantly reduced. The issue first occurred at approximately 10,000 miles and has recently returned. Although the current episodes are somewhat less severe than the initial event, the vehicle still becomes unstable above approximately 65 mph and cannot be safely driven at normal highway speeds. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? this defect creates a serious safety hazard because the steering instability occurs suddenly at highway speeds and makes the vehicle feel temporarily out of control. During the initial in incident, the steering wheel shook violently after hitting an uneven section of highway pavement, and I believed I could lose control of the vehicle or collide with surrounding traffic. The only way to stop the oscillation is to rapidly reduce speed to approximately 50 mph or lower, which itself creates additional danger from surrounding vehicles traveling at highway speed. The recurrence of the issue has made me afraid to drive the vehicle on highways or at normal traffic speeds due to concern over loss of steering control and potential crash risk. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the vehicle was serviced. The dealer performed the fix of the wheel damperer after the original occurrence. While those actions temporarily reduced the severity of the symptoms, they did not permanent. This is a known issue for Jeep's since 2018, I have had 3 and all 3 have had it.

Suspension problem #2

Within 40 miles of purchasing and departing the dealership, this brand-new 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4 door sport s experienced two severe and uncontrollable steering oscillation events (commonly known as "death wobble"). The first incident occurred on I-265 east (from I-65) in indiana after going over a standard bridge expansion joint/hump at approximately 60 mph. The steering wheel and front axle shook with such violence that vehicle control was nearly lost, necessitating emergency braking and pulling onto the shoulder. The event repeated under identical conditions within two miles. The vehicle was brought back to the dealership where tire balance, pressure, and alignment all appeared normal. Dealership took the vehicle for a test ride and was able to replicate the issue. Odometer leaving dealership: 133 miles.

Suspension problem #3

On Monday, December 15th at approximately 4:30pm, after having turned east onto highway 556, aka roy avenue, accelerating to the speed limit of 45 mph, I crossed over a "seam" connecting the roadway to the bridge, which immediately set off the infamous "death wobble" on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler jlu. I was unable to control the vehicle, and I had to slow down while wrestling with the steering so that I could pull off to the right hand side of the road. Had I not been able to react in such a quick manner, I could have easily collided with oncoming traffic, killed or injured others, or been killed myself. I took the vehicle to the dealer two days later, who said that the issue was a "steering stabilizer", which appears to be the default response from stellantis as all steering stabilizers are on back-order. There were no warning lights, no indicators that this event was imminent and the dealership indicated that all other parts were in normal working order.

Suspension problem #4

The steering wheel shakes a high speeds over 70 on highways . I’ve had it in and have had the steering wheel replaced . Another time the dealer thought it was the “death wobble” then said they didn’t find anything wrong but said it was a problem with the battery making the car heavy . This problem was not occurring previously and I drive this car every day. It does not feel right or normal . I’ve had it in over 3 times and they have not been able to find or duplicate an issue . There is a death wobble issue with Jeep but I cannot get the dealership to help with the problem .

Suspension problem #5

In the middle of driving, with the new update alert of uconnect box (I wasn't updating the uconnect), the car suddenly stops in the middle of the road and told me to shift to p (parking) to start while I am on d (driving mode), then, lost power and stopped. After turned it all the way off and back on, the cel came on. The car would drive, proceeded on and within a few minutes, it did it again. Loss of power and it is telling me to shift to p and press power to start.

Suspension problem #6

The car front end shakes at various times. It is intermittent, but it shakes from slight to severe on different occasions. The car has been to two dealerships and they drive car and cannot duplicate problem. . I read online it is common and is known as "the deadt wobble" Jeep acknowledges this but will not attempt to fix without duplicating the problem. . The car is still under warranty with 18000 miles. My concern is it should be fixed while under warranty and if warranty runs out it may fail and I will be stuck paying for the problem that should be fixed now. . This is my wifes car and we live in the mountains of nc. . This could be a very dangerous condition driving down the mountain in the rain and for this severe front end shaking. In my opinion it needs to be investigated with the possible recall to fix.

Suspension problem #7

Car was shaking over anytime went over 70miles an hour. Would not stay in lane . Steering dampener was replaced . Car continues to do this when I hit a bump. I’ve taken it back two more times, the dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem and therefore cannot fix it . It pulls completely to the other side and snaps back . They said it’s because the back is heavier than the front . They claim my tires are ok and everything looks good . It does not feel good and it does not feel like it did when I purchase the car . I drive it every day and my passengers have also noticed the problem . I am getting close to the end of my warranty and I have a feeling the dealer is going to let it run out and then tell me they found the problem .

Suspension problem #8

I am submitting this formal complaint to the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) regarding a premature front cv axle boot failure on a Jeep Wrangler with only 16,000 miles. This failure occurred under normal operating conditions and is indicative of a systemic durability defect that could pose serious long-term safety concerns if left unaddressed. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Jeep dealership in new jersey after grease was observed leaking from the front axle. Inspection revealed a torn cv axle boot. Importantly, photographic and video documentation confirm the vehicle was never subjected to off-road use, impact, or any owner-induced damage. Despite this, the dealership refused warranty coverage, claiming no cause could be determined—yet arbitrarily attributing it to external influence without any supporting evidence. This type of failure in a critical drivetrain component at such low mileage raises substantial questions regarding material integrity, seal design, and long-term reliability—issues which fall under NHTSA’s authority pursuant to 49 u. S. Code § 30118 – notification of defects and noncompliance and 49 cfr § 573 – defect and noncompliance responsibility and reports. Additionally, Jeep Wranglers have a well-documented history of drivetrain-related problems, including steering instability, axle vulnerability, and component fatigue—many of which have already resulted in technical service bulletins (tsbs) and consumer complaints to your agency. This suggests an ongoing pattern of premature wear and reliability concerns that may meet the threshold for a safety-related defect investigation. While the failure in this instance did not yet result in an accident or injury, the cv joint and axle boot are vital components of the steering and stability system. A compromised cv joint due to undetected boot failure can lead to sudden loss of control, especially at highway speeds. The failure mode—occurring silently over time—is precisely the.

Suspension problem #9

First incident rear defrost tab would come on and get so hot it was burning the rear glass. Major fire risk burning the components, reported to dealer, dealer replaced glass and component, no warnings, owner reported "smelling something burning". Fire fighter found burned glass and component which was then unplugged. 2nd- hub centric ring loose and causing noise rubbing inside of wheel. Owner states dragging sound from left to right at low speeds and one incident of vehicle not able to turn to the right. Dealer replaced new hub ring. No warning alerts, major safety concern in regular operation of vehicle while driving could cause catastrophic failure and/or death. 3rd and 4th reported to dealer Sep 29, 2025 that transmission does not want to shift and when accelerating it feels like it does not want to pull. Dealer reported no problem found reported to dealer March 26th 2026 that when accelerating and letting off the gas the vehicle makes a grinding noise and will jerk and jump. Also when pressing gas an letting off it sounds like it tries shutting off. Dealer kept vehicle for greater than 30 days. Dealer replaced rear end due to bearing failure and metal contamination which led to axle seal and bearing replacement for also being contaminated, dealer had to drill holes to swap over relocation bracket to track bar to accommodate lift. Major drive train failure safety defect possibly leading to a catastrophic failure and/or death. No warning alerts 5th vehicle was returned with in the same week for major oil leak on back tires still at dealer ship waiting repairs. No warning alerts.

Suspension problem #10

Upon reaching about 60 mph on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly began to shake violently, severely reducing my ability to steer and control the vehicle. After quickly (and dangerously) reducing my speed, it stopped, but it occurred again two more times. I pulled over and turned the car off, did a quick inspection and found nothing out of order. When I resumed my trip, the problem did not occur again. After getting home, I searched the internet and found out that my Jeep suffered from what is called the "death wobble". Apparently, Jeep has known about the problem for years and has not corrected this dangerous and scary defect.

Suspension problem #11

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the contact stated that whenever the vehicle was driven over a small pothole, the vehicle shook abnormally. In addition, the contact stated while driving over a bridge, the vehicle was driven over metal plates where the road and the bridge connected, and the vehicle shook violently. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. In addition, the contact stated that due to the failure the contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,907.

Suspension problem #12

Issue: front end violent death wobble at interstate [xxx] speed of 75mph on [xxx] outside benson az (unexpected and harsh). Hit rough patch in road and steering wheel and front end violently shook side to side for about 5 minutes until I slowed to below 50mph. Almost crashed into other cars but I regained control at a slower speed and had no accident. Vehicle purchased on [xxx] new. Slow 45mph initial test drive had no wobble. Dealer attempted to repair on 2 occasions in June 2024 but could not guarantee it fixed. They bled and primed its newer dampener which was empty/never primed. Supposedly it was the newer upgraded steering dampener that was to have fixed this issue but did not fix it. Had 3 more minor wobbles after dealer fixes on the next 3 weekends driving on [xxx] at 70mph but these were less intense and manageable (did not scare me so much as I was expecting them), now I locally drive it with no major issues. Will have dealer review at the next 5000 mile service. This death wobble should not be in a $58000 Jeep sahara. Very scary. Dealer confirmed issue, but applied no permanent fix. Said to drive under 75mph and be aware of the front beam axle feelings. No messages or warnings before, during or afterwards. The wobbles catch you by surprise. After these experiences I can drive it okay. I have owned over 10 Jeeps and none had this wobble issue. If informed about this sahara's wobble, I would not have bought it. Dealer made no effort to replace vehicle or refund my money. So I am stuck. The Jeep forums mention this being an issue for 2024 saharas and some 4xe Jeeps.
