I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe high altitude (VIN: [xxx]) with three open safety recalls, two of which involve fire hazards: NHTSA id 25v741000 – high voltage battery may fail and cause fire (parts available) NHTSA id 25v766000 – engine failure may cause fire or loss of drive power (parts not available) 2. 0l phev engine recall (parts not available) I have been trying to schedule a recall repair appointment for several days. The dealership failed to confirm parts availability, gave no clear answers, and ultimately hung up on me during our conversation. Despite the NHTSA website confirming that parts for recall 25v741000 are available, the dealership was unable to schedule an appointment and provided no solution. I am being forced to drive a vehicle with an active fire hazard while the dealership refuses to take responsibility or provide timely service. This is a serious safety concern and I am requesting immediate action. The dealership has shown complete disregard for customer safety and has failed to fulfill its obligation to complete open safety recalls in a timely manner. Engine turns off while driving down road, have to pull over, restart vehicle to unlock gear shifter. Taken to deery iowa city three times to fix the dangerous problem and deery iowa city are only resetting the computer and turning off while driving down road continues happening. I have not been provided a safe loaner vehicle for over 12 days in shop. I cannot risk me and my daughter's safety resulting from this dangerous problem refusing to be fixed.
Nhtsa complaint description what happened & safety risk: while driving a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe at highway speeds on interstate 84, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic, unrecoverable loss of motive power. Without any warning, the vehicle completely seized up, shut down, and turned off entirely while moving in active traffic. This exact life-threatening failure has now occurred twice. Operating a vehicle that completely dies at highway speeds places the driver, passengers, and all surrounding traffic at an extreme risk of a high-speed rear-end collision, as the vehicle loses all ability to accelerate or safely clear the roadway. Component/system malfunction: the failure lies within the hybrid propulsion system and electrical/software communication network (specifically relating to active federal recalls 25v710 for hybrid control processor software shutdown and 25v766 for engine sand contamination). The vehicle is absolutely available for inspection upon request. Dealer confirmation & inspection: the problem is currently being evaluated. The vehicle is currently held at an authorized stellantis dealership service department, where it was brought immediately following the most recent highway shutdown. Warning symptoms: there were no advance warning lamps, diagnostic messages, or performance symptoms prior to the failure. The loss of propulsion and complete vehicle shutdown occurred instantaneously and without warning while traveling at highway speeds.
Still no remedy for the engine recall. Vehicle gives me issues. Currently will not start, can not move the vehicle away from my driveway. Has bunch of electrical errors.
Yesterday evening we were driving and the orange check engine light came on. Followed by a red battery light, the red turtle and an exclamation point with a car and a speedometer symbol. It would not let me switch to electric e-save and kept me in hybrid mode. Regenerative braking would not work either. Once safely parked it was making a loud high pitched whining noise. It would also drop rpms while idling and then they would rev up quickly. Once the tow truck arrived he tried to drive it up on the flat bed but it had no power to make it up the ramp and had to be pulled with the tow cable up the ramp. Another thing I have noticed as of the last 68c update is that when in electric mode and merging onto a freeway for example, it gets really sluggish at about 65mph and the gas engine won't kick in like it used to before the update. It doesn't go above 65 and slows down to about 62 even if my foot is pedal to the floor before ice kicks in. Makes it pretty dangerous to be merging with traffic going 70+.
Started car and check engine light was on. Started to drive it and the battery and other lights came on. Engine sounded funny and electric motor was not available. As I was trying I needed to pull off because it was not moving smoothly and was jerky. I pulled over into a parking lot and put in park and the lights indicated it was in charging mode. After repeated attempts to turn the vehicle completely off I was able to. When I was able to finally turn it back on it the engine was very loud. While driving the car would accelerate when I did not have my foot on the brake and was getting warm inside the cabin. At random times the battery light and a red turtle would appear saying the speed was being limited. This happened repeatedly. The following day on the way to try to bring it to the dealership to fix it the speed was increasing while on flat ground unless I had foot on break and then the red turtle would come back on. I determined it was unsafe to drive and requested a tow to the dealership.
My vehicle was purchased brand new and currently has only about 13,000 miles. Despite this, it is already being recommended for a full engine replacement. The dealership has diagnosed coolant seeping into cylinder 4, indicating a failing head gasket. I do not understand how this could be attributed to me, as the car is still very new and has never overheated. I first noticed the issue in April 2025, when I had to begin regularly adding coolant. I have kept receipts documenting all coolant purchases since that time. However, the dealership is refusing to cover the repair, claiming that I am at fault because I replaced the coolant expansion tank. The timeline clearly shows otherwise. The coolant loss began in April 2025, while the expansion tank was not replaced until July 2025—months after the issue had already started. While the expansion tank is part of the cooling system, it would not cause a head gasket failure. This situation has also created a safety concern for my family, as my wife and child are now afraid to drive the vehicle due to the risk of being stranded where most hawaii roads do not have safe shoulder to pull over on. According to the traffic safety of honolulu, there are numerous cases where people were killed for being on the side of the road. Given these facts, I am requesting that this matter be reevaluated and that the necessary repairs, including engine replacement if required, be covered under warranty.
On April 17th 2024 my vehicle received a recall update 68c regarding the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle battery. Two days later, I was driving on a major freeway in southern California, noticed that the ev battery was not being depleted as it remained at 100%. Shortly thereafter, a check engine light came on, and the power was severely restricted. Within a few minutes, the vehicle completely lost power in the middle of the freeway and I was able to get over to the right shoulder. At this point, the vehicle had no power and I could not turn the vehicle off either regarding the electronics. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership in san diego, and by the time it was at the dealership, the vehicle was in full lockout mode and had zero battery power left and could not even lock the doors. This caused a significant safety hazard as I was with my [xxx] child and the vehicle just completely lost power on the freeway. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they are giving me a very hard time saying that there is nothing wrong with it, but I have read that there have been many problems with this recall update. The dealership told me that the problem was a bad 12 v battery and that I needed to pay to replace that and I argued with them that that was not the problem and they are not addressing the major issue with a complete power loss on the freeway after a required software update that has known problems. While driving approximately 35 mph on a 4 lane major roadway, the vehicle suddenly shut off in motion, resulting in a complete loss of power. This included loss of power steering and the abs system. The vehicle effectively locked up, and a message appeared on the display instructing me to place the vehicle in park. As a result of the shutdown, the vehicle lost all propulsion and came to a complete stop in an active travel lane of a high-speed roadway. There was no ability to maneuver the vehicle out of traffic. I could not steer it to safety, restart it, or shift it into neutral. The vehicle was fully immobilized in the roadway. This left me and my family stopped in an active lane of traffic, exposed to oncoming vehicles traveling at highway speeds, creating an immediate and serious risk of collision. At the time of the incident, I had two children in the vehicle. We remained in this dangerous position until police arrived and an hour after. The vehicle ultimately had to be removed from the roadway with assistance, as it was not operable. During the event, there was a total loss of electrical power. The critical safety systems, including brake lights, were not functioning during the shutdown. After attempting to reset the battery, the vehicle continued to malfunction. It would not properly turn on or off, wouldn't shift into neutral and remained unable to be moved. This is the third occurrence of this; once was while driving at highway speeds. All warning lights, including the battery light, were illuminated. The vehicle is subject to an active recall; however, I have been informed that there is currently no available remedy . Despite this, the dealership and stellantis advised that the vehicle was safe to operate. Given the repeated loss of power while driving, the inability to move the vehicle out of an active roadway, and the absence of an available repair, this vehicle presents a serious safety risk and I should be able to turn this vehicle in with refund.
See attached document for complaint.
While braking at low speed approaching a stoplight, the vehicle did not slow as expected when I removed my foot from the accelerator. As I applied increasing brake pressure, the engine revved and the vehicle continued to move forward into the intersection. The brakes appeared to be working but had to counter engine power, and the tires briefly chirped. I shifted into neutral to stop the vehicle and then backed out of the intersection. If another vehicle had been stopped in front of me, a collision would likely have occurred. The vehicle was in fuel and oil refresh mode (form) with max regenerative braking enabled at the time of the incident. There were no warning lights or messages. I provided dashcam video to the dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the condition but reported that stored vehicle data showed abs activation during the incident. The dealer has documented the event as a safety concern and reported it to the manufacturer. This appears to involve unintended forward movement or application of engine power while braking, creating a significant safety risk.
Vehicle started missing at around 2000 miles, also a check engine light came on. Took it to rick hendrick Jeep and they ended up replacing an oxygen sensor and telling me the vehicle was not missing even though I have obd reports showing the engine missing. At around 7000 miles I performed the second oil change on the vehicle, when inspecting the old oil filter I found larger particles of metal in it. I took the vehicle back to rick hendrick and the mechanic looked at the filter that was new (only 500 miles) and said he only found glitter. The mechanic said this is normal for break in. The pieces I see in the oil filter are larger and some look like lathe shavings. I have pictures of the metal particles. So I was given back the vehicle and told it's ok. I know it isn't ok with that amount of metal in the engine and am afraid it will leave me stranded on the highway.
Unknown. I was driving and my Jeep started making g a very loud rattling sound it kept getting louder. Eventually it made a screeching sound and the dash board lit up and it stopped and the engine began to smoke really bad. The engine light came on but I tried my best to make it home. It was towed to the dealership and they said that the engine needed to be replaced because there was a hole in it.
After the 68c recall the power of the electric drive is limited. Frequent power loss occurs on highway driving during acceleration (merging onto highway or passing other cars). Despite the battery being charged up to 50% there is only 25% power available. The car is a plug in hybrid vehicle. The internal combustion engine states in these cases with several seconds delay. During that time the car does not accelerate sufficiently to safely merge onto a highway or pass other cars. The power loss happens without warning during critical drive situations like merging onto a highway or passing other cars. The driver expects a continuous level of power by the car, not a sudden power loss. This is reported by countless other drivers on all social media platform as a consequence of the 68c recall that affects 350 000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and grand cherokee 4xe. Jeep does not respond to customer complaints or requests for clarification.
There are multiple recalls on my vehicle the 68c which was a overheating battery issue that a software update was performed but the underlying battery issue still exists and the 78c which is sand casting in the engine block which has no fix and the dealer has no remedy because stellantis has no remedy they say it could cause catastrophic engine failure but it’s safe to drive they refuse to give me a loaner or reimburse me for a rental vehicle they also refuse to buy back my vehicle so I can get into a safe gas powered vehicle I find this unacceptable and would like you to take action against this company please help us thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. After a recent recall (68c) for my 4xe the driving characteristics of my vehicle have totally changed. Accelerationis delayed and jerky with the engine cutting in and out very unpredictavely now. Electric range has also gone down in a real world scenario. Jeep has not clarified or explained that the recall did to the driving dynamics of the vehicle after the recall.
2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has had multiple safety recalls. My Jeep began losing all engine power while driving down the highway, causing it to jump forward and stall back. During this power malfunction, the engine began smoking and a burning smell was emitted from the engine compartment. I was luckily close enough to home that I made it back to my driveway before it completely lost power. I was worried that it was going to catch fire and cause harm to my surrounding neighbors, so I stood outside for a while to make sure I did not need to call the fire department. I then reached out to stellantis to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership because the issues that arose were consistent with the 78c recall. I opened a claim with stellantis as well to have an inspector look at the vehicle but before they were able to see the vehicle, the dealership "repaired" it and said it was just a malfunctioning piston, and I could come get the Jeep. I refused, because it was still a safety risk with no fix for the recall and did not feel safe putting my safety at risk or others safety on the road at risk. Stellantis sent me a letter a week later saying the vehicle showed no signs of fire or burning and is safe to operate now. I refuse to believe this because a genuine inspection was never done to the vehicle after the incident and now stellantis is putting my and others safety at risk by saying the vehicle is "fixed".
First incident: January, 2026 “service hybrid electrical system” dash light activated, in addition to prior notification of recall 78c. Vehicle brought to merrick Chrysler Jeep in wantagh NY for repair and recall. Hybrid system repaired but recall unable to be performed. Second incident: March 12, 2026 vehicle is unable to start in driveway. Towed to merrick Jeep Chrysler. Stellantis states recall 78c repairs are still unavailable. Awaiting information from merrick Jeep March 16, 2026 email to stellantis officially requesting early lease termination due to extreme safety issues (recall 78c) and two incidents of hybrid electrical system failure in 2 months. Received case number 00319759.
Jeep Wrangler 2024 issues plate number [xxx] bin # [xxx] to whom it may concern, I would like to request a courtesy incentive or compensation due to the repeated recalls and repair situations with my Jeep Wrangler. There have been three lengthy recall repairs this winter. The extended repair times, especially when parts are back-ordered, have resulted in wasted time and additional mileage on my lease from trips to the dealership, appointments, and test drives. The electric engine issues have been particularly concerning, as the failure has rendered the vehicle inoperable on some occasions, posing a significant safety risk. There have been instances where the vehicle has completely stopped, created a dragging effect, and failed to start in winter, while experiencing malfunctions in all electric components. My fuel consumption has significantly increased over the past three months due to these repairs, and I am no longer able to effectively use the electric engine feature. The service department has been unable to diagnose the electric engine failure after multiple attempts, and as a result, the battery is being overcharged without engaging the electric motor. There have been numerous unresolved issues and repairs that have not been successfully completed. I acquired this hybrid vehicle after considering the advertising regarding its favorable fuel efficiency and the electric rechargeable engine feature. However, this feature has not been utilized this winter due to repeated malfunctions, recalls, or a combination of both. Since late November 2025, this electric engine has consistently ceased to function. Several scheduled repair diagnostic appointments were postponed by the dealer due to a busy service schedule and a shortage of staff at the repair facility. Additionally, I need to request unpaid time off from my job, as the dealer is unable to provide a loan vehicle while my Jeep is being repaired. This has caused significant inconvenience and fina information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.
Issue type: 1. ) electrical system / hybrid battery 2. ) safety recall with no remedy my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe currently has open safety recalls (78c and a7c) with no available remedy. These recalls have been open for several months. I have been advised that the vehicle may pose a safety risk, yet I am continuing to make lease payments and rely on the vehicle for transportation. The manufacturer has not provided a repair timeline or resolution. I do not feel safe operating the vehicle and am seeking assistance because the defect cannot currently be repaired.
After taking my Jeep in on January 16th for the 68 c recall I’ve had multiple issues with the Jeep hybrid/engine. While driving the Jeep it suddenly becomes unresponsive even when pushing the gas pedal to the floor. After a minute the engine will start up and lurch forward. I’ve almost caused an accident multiple times. This is a huge issue and needs to be addressed. I’ve taken my Jeep back to the dealership and they don’t have any answers to why it keeps doing this. After reading multiple post on line it seems like this is a common issue following the last update.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is subject to recall 78c (NHTSA #25v-766) regarding sand contamination in the engine. The manufacturer officially warns that this defect can cause 'catastrophic engine failure' resulting in a 'vehicle fire' or an 'unrecoverable loss of propulsion'. As of April 2026, the manufacturer has no available fix for this safety hazard. Simultaneously, the vehicle suffers from persistent electrical failures. Despite a repair attempt on March 3, 2026, where the 12v battery was replaced under warranty, the vehicle continues to display 'aux switches temporarily unavailable' errors accompanied by constant audible chiming while driving. These combined defects create an extreme and unreasonable safety risk. Because the manufacturer has admitted the engine is a fire hazard but cannot provide a repair, the vehicle is effectively unmarketable and unsafe for operation. I am currently grounded and utilizing a rental vehicle as I do not feel safe operating this Jeep.
After stopping at a stop sign and proceeding through an intersection cruising over ac one way street my vehicle lost power in the middle of the intersection. Thankfully the vehicle traveling straight was far enough away and was able to shan this brakes and stop avoiding a tbone collision. Out of no where the car stopped and started back up but not before almost causing an accident.
Battery completely died, randomly. Issue was “fixed”. Now check engine light is on. Engine sounds bad.
Vehicle has open recall 25v-766 / fca 78c (engine fire risk). No remedy available. Manufacturer directing customer to call but no resolution. Requesting manufacturer buyback due to unresolved safety defect.
I have a 2024 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 4xe that was caught on fire at 2am 2/10/26 when parked in my garage. Jeep issed 68c recall for its defective ev battery, and I had finished the recall on 1/20/26 in fremont cdjr in CA, but it was still caught on fire. I have every thing saved, ring footage and invoices from the dealer about recall. Just want to report that the remedy from Jeep does not help at all.
Catastrophic loss of motive power and power steering at road speed following recall 68c update. Description: on February 6, 2026, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (mileage: 24,947) suffered a catastrophic safety failure while in motion on a public roadway. This occurred about 25 hours after the vehicle was "cleared" by a dealership for recall 68c (NHTSA recall 25v-741). While driving at approximately 25/30 mph in electric mode, the vehicle suddenly displayed a "service transmission" warning and a red high-voltage "service hybrid electric vehicle system" error. The vehicle immediately lost all motive power and entered a "limp mode" (turtle icon) that restricted speed to under 5 mph. Simultaneously, the vehicle lost power steering and displayed errors for "service shifter," "auto emergency braking (aeb) unavailable," and "adaptive cruise control (acc) unavailable. " I was forced to drift the unpowered vehicle across lanes of traffic into a shoulder without power steering where another vehicle almost hit me. The vehicle revved excessively but would not provide propulsion. After a hard restart, I was able to move the vehicle at 20 mph to a safe location, where it was subsequently towed to the dealership. This failure occurred after the manufacturer assured me the vehicle was safe following the recall 68c software update. This is a life-threatening defect that caused a total loss of control on a live roadway. I am requesting a formal investigation into the effectiveness of the 68c software remedy. I have video and photos of the dashboard.
Dealers: lakeland crysler Dodge ram, FL; second authorized Jeep dealer, bartow FL complaint: my 2024 Jeep Wrangler sahara has multiple unresolved safety defects despite repeated warranty repairs, and I have no confidence in this Jeep at just 12,000 miles. Forward collision warning (fcw) not working — lakeland Jeep failed to repair or document inspections. Fuel leak / gasoline fumes in the cabin — after repairs on Feb 4, 2026, strong fumes entered the cabin while my children were passengers. A second dealer confirmed the leak and retained the vehicle as unsafe. Sensor failures — reported since July 2024, still unresolved. Failure to document safety sensors — repeatedly requested, ignored by dealer and stellantis. Dealer gm and stellantis negligence — cases closed prematurely; repairs rushed without confirming the Jeep was safe to drive. The Jeep continues to pose serious risk to passengers, including my children, due to fuel fumes and non-functioning safety systems. I cannot trust this vehicle to transport my family safely, despite being only 12,000 miles. Documentation: emails, texts, certified letters, and repair orders document repeated safety defects and communication with stellantis and lakeland motors Jeep. Request: immediate investigation and warranty repairs written confirmation that the Jeep is safe before return buyback under florida lemon law due to repeated unresolved safety defects.
I am writing to report an additional safety?related incident involving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 4xe. This vehicle previously experienced propulsion issues that I reported under NHTSA case number 11692887. On the morning of February 4, 2026, while driving to work on a busy interstate (approximately 12 miles from home), the vehicle again began exhibiting propulsion instability. The vehicle experienced repeated surging and thrusting movements that became progressively more severe during the drive. During these events, the check?engine light intermittently illuminated and then turned off. This incident occurred exactly seven days after my vehicle was evaluated by sam leman Dodge on January 27, 2026, for three open safety recalls. At that visit, I was provided paperwork indicating that the issues had been addressed. However, as of today, the official Jeep/mopar recall website still shows multiple serious and active safety recalls for my VIN, including recalls involving fire risk and sudden loss of motive power. After the February 4 incident, I contacted the dealership, and their service department advised me not to drive the vehicle and recommended that it be towed to the dealership for evaluation. I followed this guidance due to the severity of the propulsion behavior and the safety concerns involved. Given the recurrence of propulsion instability, the worsening severity of the surging behavior, the dealer’s recommendation not to drive the vehicle, and the presence of multiple unresolved safety recalls, I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring that the manufacturer addresses these issues and restores the vehicle to a safe operating condition. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Recognize that this is the second time I have emailed the NHTSA regarding propulsion issues with this vehicle (earlier case number 11692887). Please help me build a relationship with Jeep to ensure this vehicle is restored to a safe condition.
Unknown exactly but started Jeep & backed out of parking spot & placed in drive and only got a few feet & vehicle slowed & stopped placed in park & turned car off then waited a few seconds & turned back in and showed it was in run but not able to place into gear turned off again & waited longer & was able ti get started & into gear then towed to dealership this also happened in October but I was driving on the road & lost power was able to pull to side & then return home & get to dealership a couple days later when open & was told it was power train related.
Engine light, engine has been rough and loud.
After 68c recall vehicle on electric mode looses complete power “maximum throttle input”uphill for roughly 5-10 seconds until gas engine kicks in to support. On 2 drives after getting the vehicle back I almost got rear ended by an 18 wheeler both times.
Ever since the 68c recall update my Jeep has been having a hard time knowing what system it should be using to drive. The electric system shuts off, but the engine doesn’t start up until I press the gas pedal to the floor. I’ve had multiple instances on the freeway where this has happened and almost caused me to wreck. I’m very concerned this is happening.
I have two open serious recalls on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe. There is a recall for the batter/charging system so I cannot plug it in to the charger I purchased for my home. I also have a continuing issue with my gas tank - it will not fill and the nozzel clicks off even though I have next to no gas in the tank. I can't charge the car, yet can't fill it with gas. I have brought it back to the dealership 3 or 4 times in the less than two years of owning the car. There is also a recall that effects the engine so I am scared to drive it on the highway. Basically I was tricked into leasing a $60,000 piece of absolute garbage. I can't get out of the lease early without having to -pay some type of penalty or losing money, which is really unfair. The company knows about these issues and took advantage of customers.
Hybrid mode, parking vehicle 2mph stopping/breaking. Vehicle lurches forward toward trees. I continue to apply breaks place into park and pull up break, while turning wheel to left doing circles to avoid collision w anything for approximately 30 feet. The hybrid mode seemed to go from electric to gas, which may have triggered the erratic jolt forward?.
