Equipment Problems of Kia Motor Borrego

Something within the brake system is causing my shifter to not communicate with the brakes and will not allow my car to go into reverse or park. It stays stuck on drive or neutral. The only thing I can do is shut the car off and can’t do much except for move around the key until I can put the car into park. Then that is hot and starts making under the hood hot. Then the check engine light will go on and off. It is also making a leak of brake fluid somewhere which is making the brakes go to the floor and making it dangerous when trying to stop the vehicle.

I have owned this car since it was new. Anchors kia hung up on me 3x as I tried to get 2 recall items addressed. I then called the kia hotline and got hung up on. All I want is my recalled item taken care of….

My drivers side seatbelt does not latch all of the time. It will pop off while driving. This seems very dangerous and unsafe. I am also have trouble with my antenna around my ignition switch. It doesn't detect my key all of the time which means that my car does not start every time I put the key in it. It might take a few attempts. I just put about $5000 into this car over the last couple of years and was hoping to be done for a little while. The technicians have shared that neither of these issues are of my doing. The car is simply not reading my key and my seatbelt is defective.

Sun visors on both sides will not retract up to rooftop so its blocking visibility. The right side went out 1st about a year ago, but when the driver side stop working about 3 mo. . That's when I have a problem. So for the past 3 months is been a big problem for me.

As I pulled onto my driveway, coming to a stop with my foot on the brake, the car unintentionally accelerated and crashed through the garage door.

Once it woukd not ket me put car in reverse or park. Had to goigle the issue. Brakes had to be mashed to floor to engage. When slowing down or stopping at stop sign, the engine doesn't rev down and causes a severe jerking when you accelerate. It happens daily, many times daily. The check engine light is not on.

#1 whenever it rains the right headlight goes out and has to be replaced. #2 when the car is driven there is a burning smell inside the car that smells like wires burning. And there is smoke coming from inside the enging compartment and flowing from under the hood. Between the battery compartment and the frame area. We have taken the vehicle to kia for a diognostic and although they noticed the issue also, they could not find where it was coming from. Driving the kia makes me very nervous and we would like to know what is causing the problem and how to fix it. We live in lawrenceville GA and the issue hapoens weather were on the streets or on the highway.

The part in question is good year tire wrangler sr- a p265/60r18 (m&s) dot # m7c4 exwr 4913. While traveling at 55mph on the expressway the tpms light came on. I was able to make to a dealership for repairs. Upon investigation from the dealership the tire in question could not be fixed so it was replaced. The tire looks to have split between the treads not caused by a road hazard. I'm concerned if this is a possible defect in the tire. I do have 4 tire of that kind on my vechile. I do have the tire in question in my possession.

I have a 2009 kia Borrego it has cost me $900. 00 to replace the sway bars on both sides my car has almost 100,000 miles on it and now I have the flashing check engine light on my SUV I have had it looked about and it is going to cost me $1,300 more because it is the catalytic converter I have had this car for 5 years now I got it used and it is becoming a money pit I have been experiencing some lagging on the accelerator and some shifting noises when in park to reverse it will sound like the transmission falling out and now my truck sounds like a diesel for some unknown reason kia needs to do a recall on all the 2009 kia Borrego and give people a choice to take an replace the SUV. . Now my family love kia but this has been the worst experience ever with this car now we're thinking about changing to Ford. . .

On the driver side seat the rocker piece that allows the seat to move up and down and front to back. The pin in it keeps coming lose. Also the driver side visor has started to fall from its holder and hang from the wire for the mirror light. I feel that both are very dangerous and can cause an problem driving.

Our 2009 kia Borrego has had several issues. Worst are 1) we put vehicle in reverse and backed out of garage, went to put in drive and started down driveway. We forgot something so stopped and backed up, upon putting back to drive we got locked in neutral. We could not get car into reverse or park. We pushed the engine off button which shut car off, but still were stuck in neutral. Car would not start back up. We had to press brake hard and got car started then it was ok. 2) then a few days later the engine light came on. The car was going to be driven to another city for work so we took by kia. They said we could drive it, but it could stall out while driving. At any speed! we left at kia for service. Under warranty, so not exactly what caused it. But do know my car battery is now dying and we've had for 6 months. Now we have to deal with that.
