Update to claim 11277949 kia dealer claims shifter bushing and the transmission switch. Strange that such a dangerous was treated with more concern. 5 more seconds of that malfunction and I would have wounded or killed a innocent pedestrian.
Engine burned in front yard husband drove car to post office returned with car and engine was on fire, fire department had to put fire out. Husband made it home and parked the vehicle at front door husband thought car was steaming but car was on fire.
My engine had 85,000 miles on it and I regularly did oil changes and the engine blew randomly and costs over $5,000 to replace. The vehicle was operating fine when I parked it on my lunch and when I came out to leave work it would no longer start.
🚗 car caught on 🔥 fire while driving on I 285. .
The engine is failing. Just over 100,000 miles and has bearing failure with rod knock. I have read story after story about these engines failing. A 2010 needs to be recalled and repaired the same as 2011. Same engine ,same procedures. The car is useless now. Can't sell, trade,or drive.
My airbag has been on for ovr a yr. Took it to a dealer to get repaired. The light was off for 4 days and cane back on and stays on. Back again. And still had to pay another diag. Fee. But they said it was fixed. Now my car sounds really loud. . . Knocking thats annoying. Everytime I start my car and drive it makes that noise. Just found out. Its an airbag module that wasnt covered in the recall. Why cldnt they find that at 1st. Smh. Very disappointed in kia. Going to a different mfg. . . Like Toyota.
Tl the contact owned a 2010 kia Forte. While driving approximately 50 mph, smoke was present coming from the vehicle. After stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that flames and smoke were coming from under the front of the vehicle. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A fire report was filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 137,000.
I had a 2010 kia Forte koup that caught on fire 5/29/18 while going down a highway approximately 55 miles/hr. Before the fire began, there was some knocking in the engine and all power went out, including power steering and brakes. I was able to get it to the side of the road and popped the hood to see flames coming out of the engine. I immediately called the fire department. They didn't make it in time, and the whole car was a complete loss. I have always kept up with the oil changes and having all fluids checked and filled as needed. I have had all recalls done as they became available. The fire was in the front of the car and gave no warning before the power steering and brakes went out. All we could do is evacuate the car, get as far away from it as possible, and call 911. It was devoured within minutes with flames, and is now a complete loss. I have contacted kia International (case #12745414) who told me that the manufacturer's warranty was expired, so there was nothing that they could do. I also purchased an extended warranty from cna national, but they claimed that they weren't responsible for mechanical issues.
These vehicles are absolutely dangerous! I've been in the automotive business my entire career for 15 years with a level certifications and ases. I stopped driving the vehicle due to the simple matter of any acceleration over 2900 rpm it starts knocking. I will not put my family or myself in the danger of driving this vehicle any longer. If something were to break while making a left turn the results could be devastating! I've contacted kia many times regarding this matter yet I've been told that knocking his normal they call it a ping. I told them I use 91 octane every time I fill so there's no way of pinging from pre detonation. The vehicle is always maintained and oil changes are always done early. After being told many times that the kia 2010 is not a part of the recall I have taken my own action to fixing the problem. Upon teardown I have discovered rod bearing damage and a oil pan full of minor flakes from rod material. Due to me keeping rpm slow I will hopefully be able to replace the rod bearings without further problems but who knows on this motor. I just worry about all the people that drive normally and could potentially have a motor failure and possible fire from a rod breaking through the block. I sure hope kia does something before someone is killed!.
Engine knock possibly related to Hyundai, kia theta ii motor recall. Dealership denies any information regarding engine safety or any fix for this issue. My car is having issues driving. It is concerning me because of this massive recall. This car uses a variant of the theta ii engine that is being recalled for metal shavings that cause internal engine damage. I believe my car dealership is holding out information regarding this safety issue.
Engine has been acting up. Knocking. Tapping. Less power. Mpg in the 20s. Get gas 127000 miles on it. Has been well maintained. Overall defective engine. I hope they recall this engine soon before lots of people get hurt when their engine craps out on them doing 70 on the freeway.
Ive been experiencing what other people on kia forums has labeled as hard shifting since November of 2017. When I start driving the car jerks really hard in between 1-2 rpm or when it's shifting. It's not the transmission fluid and it may be the heat temp sensor but I don't know.
At a stop light or stop sign. It will quit for no reason. I have to put it in park or neutral to start and continue. Plus, driving along the transmission will kick out gear for a second and then go again.
Throttle body original and replacement part defective. Intermittent no start. Vehicle stationary. Will just crank and not start after sitting for awhile. Once it starts usually good until vehicle sits for awhile then it's difficult to start again. . Original item replaced Mar 24 2016. Same problem occurring now in Feb 17 with new part. Was told that throttle body has been a recurring problem with other customers by the service technician at carsmart automotive repair in logan utah.
I have a 2010 kia Forte koup. It runs and drives alright besides it makes such a knock. I have heard it could be a rod knock or a spud bearing etc. Need to kno if I'm under manufacturer warrenty as I'm not the original owner. Car only has 88,000 miles on it too. Also the place I took it to see what was wrong said it would be 2 grand to fix it. How do you expect me to do that as I'm making payments on the car and only had it since April of this year.
I have kia Forte which was running fine. Until I change the starter then the oil was pumping to the engine it would knock loudly & if I would any longer it would blow the engine.
Just after purchasing the car used with 73,349 miles on the odometer on 7/31/2014 there was a slight knock in the engine, which sounds like the problem that led to recalls on later years models with 4 cylinder engines, so I think the problem started earlier. Since there was no warranty (sold as is) on a used car the dealer told us repairs would cost more than just replacing the engine, so I had to pay $3,000 to replace the engine. I complained to both the dealer (fairfax kia) and the manufacturer with no resolution.
I was driving through a reduced speed zone of 35 mph and went to set my cruise control, about 3-5 seconds later I felt the car go dead. I lost power steering and all electrical systems. My indicator lights were on and flickering and I had no control over the vehicle other than waining off to the side of the road to get out of the way of traffic. Once my car came to a stop I proceeded to turn off the ignition. I tried starting it and the engine turned a couple of times but went dead so I turned it off. I tried one more time to start the ignition and was only barely able to get the engine to start and maintain. I went off on my way and later on on my way home I stopped to get food and when I got back in my car I tried starting it and it struggled to start. I have only had my car for 1. 5 years and only in the past couple months experienced problems with my cruise control not activating and setting to my current speed.
The contact owns a 2010 kia Forte. The contact stated that there was a load knocking in the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the vehicle exhibited a rod knock and recommended having the engine replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.
The ac condenser froze up therefore I could not start vehicle . It was snowing and freezing and I was stranded for 2 hours. The ac should not be going bad on a 2010 vehicle . I read many reports on this particular problem in the kia Fortes all years. Well someone could get hurt when there vehicle stops running in the middle of a busy highway!!! this is a problem!!! mechanic told me I could of been driving fast and this could of happened!! someone is going to get hurt!!.
The vehicle will sporadically jerk hard when changing gears. I have only ever experienced this same feeling when a transmission was going out. The vehicle was purchased brand new on 06/24/11 from a dealers lot, the vehicle had been used as a demo. The vehicle hard jerked when changing gears, four separate times between 06/25/11 and 07/05/11. . Read more...
When at stopped position I step on footfeed and rpms do not increase and then all of a sudden the vehicle surges forward. The rpms as shown on the gauge show that it is in the idle state until the sudden surge. This mostly happens when trying to advance slowly. This happens infrequently but presents a safety concern when it happens in close facility or when in traffic. The delay in vehicle movement may be as long as 10 seconds and then it just jumps to current demand from the footfeed. This happens rarely but when it happens it really alarms the driver.
