I have currently been avoiding driving my car because it goes in limp mode when I’m stopped at red lights I smell oil burning sometimes ive seen small amounts of smoke coming from the engine as well as just receiving an oil change less than a month ago and it already being bad , I checked the mail the other day and I received a recall letter from kia stating my car needs to be serviced and that I can take it in for a free engine test and inspection free of cost as well as a system update free of cost , I schedule an appointment today for 11 I was told it will take half a day I receive a text to pick it back up 1 hour later I ask if an engine test was also done I received no response so I came in and was told that I would have to pay 270 for a diagnosis despite the engine inspection being different they refused to do one stating the previous owners warranty is up so the system update was done without any inspection or test to see if the damage was already which it is based off the state of my car , when trying to leave my car was not starting up and when it finally did it went into limp mode completely and wouldn’t drive at that point I reach out to kia costumer care center and they let me know that I should have gotten a inspection free of charge along side the update and to go somewhere else online also states regardless of warranty all recalls must be addressed if problems persist regardless of past service or owner , they also cleared my recall and listed it as repaired and it was not kia corporate shows it is still an open recall as well . I also received a kia multi point inspection that was not at all fully performed it is 1/4 fill out .
Break line, have to continue to fill break fluid, the smell of something burning when stopping or stopped , passenger right light keeps going out , continues need to be replaced.
The engine on my kia Forte failed just 12k miles after a recall service that was intended to ensure an additional 80k miles of engine use. Either the recall work to ensure that additional range was defective, or the process that designed the work was defective. Recall # 20v750 was to check for engine damage, and install a knock sensor update that would prevent engine failure. At the time of service the dealership ignored reported oil problems and did not perform the inspection as described in the recall notice. The eventual sensor alert that was supposed to prevent damage is instead being treated by the dealer as a catastrophic result that requires replacement. On two fronts the work performed was not as described- there was no legitimate inspection (note the reported oil burn reported by the dealership), and the prevention-enabling sensor update failed to prevent anything.
An engine fire recall has already been issued relating to fuel and oil leaks for my vehicle. On two occasions I've taken my car in for repair service to their first kia dealership in simi valley CA, and both times they've refused to complete repairs, saying the manufacturer's repair servers were down and inaccessible for the necessary service. On the most recent appointment (April 9), the service rep told me he'd give me a call once the repair system was back online, but that call never happened. Kia has not replied to my requests regarding this impairment of theirs. Meanwhile my car is burning through 1-3 quarts of oil a week, those gallons of oil loss have already cost me one contaminated catalytic converter, and I lack the work flexibility to continue scheduling fruitless repair visits. My car has a flaw that this recall should fix, but between the dealership and the manufacturer there has been an inability to provide that repair. The ongoing pursuit of those solutions has left me at risk of losing work should this nonsense continue- much of my scheduling flexibility has been exhausted.
Kia Forte is burning oil, bought car to mechanic to try and locate a leak, and fix what issue the car may be having. A few days after I bought the car to the mechanics which the gdi and pcv valve was changed and/or repaired. He noted that the spark plugs were fouled with oil, and that he could not tell where a leak was occuring or why the engine is burning so much oil. After the car was in the shop we received a letter in the mail stating that kia was having a recall on our vehicle. Recall number 20v750 - which pertained to the issue I am having with my vehicle, I then contacted kia and scheduled an appointment, which kia could not hold due to their servers being down, had to reschedule, rescheduled a second appointment, which was not held due to the servers being down still. Finally received a call a few days later that the servers were up and if I would like to schedule, in which did for Monday March 1st 2021. When leaving the car at kia all star in denham springs, la the engine was tapping some but shallow, when I spoke to kia they stated that the recall my car was going in for was for the update on the knock sensor detection system, in which I was never sent the second letter as promised that the update was available in the recall letter of the original recall I am contacting you about. When I picked up my car it did not seem the same, or sound the same, and as a couple days went by the engine was sounding rougher and louder, checked my oil and had to add more oil to the car and the issue of missing oil is still happening. I called kia consumers and spoke to a jason to file a complaint and the displeased with the services that I did not receive and the lack of urgency in the recall issues pertaining to my vehicle.
Before exiting but during departure of parking lot for apartment building keeping brake pedal fully depressed with transmission geared in reverse the vehicle quickly and unexpectedly took off and sped out of control backwards until stopped by sudden impact with a tree resulting in numerous bodily injuries to traumatic mentally anguished driver and 2 passengers, 1 of which was seated in the backseat collision side resulting in total loss of vehicle according to drivers insurance policy provider state farm. Claim number: 53-15k1-66d.
I replaced my catalyc converter in July, was informed there was an internal oil leak from the engine causing the catalyc to clog and car lose power. Replaced the whole thing over $2000. Now experiencing the same thing again. The vehicle loses power when accelerated. As well can smell the oil burning.
I bought the car in November 2 weeks later driving on December 10 all lights came out car loss power and engine blew off I was driving at around 55mph I’m still paying for the car but I never received no notice for the recall I need an answer ASAP the cae as been in my garage since December 10/2020.
Driving my kia Forte 2014 on the freeway, as I would accelerate my car would hesitate. I started to accelerate more and it would slowly die down until it completely stopped. Before this incident it would completely turn off at stop lights or stop signs. I got it diagnosed and its the catalytic converter and those are supposed to last a life time. My car is only 6 years old and I had a pontiac grand prix 1989 that lasted 20+ years. Now the inside of my car smells like gas and I just got this car a couple months ago!.
I own a 2014 kia Forte ex. . When I first got my car I notice a lightly ticking noise coming from the engine a lot of people told me the ticking sound was normal on new engines . It seems to get a bit louder as time when in. . My daughter and I were driving when we notice the sound got much louder and a slapping sounds coming from the engine and my car loosing power and also a burning smoke smell getting much heavier to the point the car just shut off and quit it on us. The dash also got very hot at this point . . We called for tow service and got the car back home . . . Was sure what was happening with my car . . Thank you !.
While in motion, on three separate occasions on one drive, the engine of the vehicle completely shut off. The electrical system remained active. All three times the engine shut off while accelerating. Once after slowly going over railroad tracks. Once after backing out of a driveway and giving gas after going from "reverse" to "drive". And finally, when slowing for a turning vehicle and accelerating to go up a slight incline. I had a mechanic look it over and despite checking and testing every common cause, he could not recreate the scenario. Also, he reported that there were no diagnostic codes thrown as a result of the event.
I started the car one day and it started idling rough and smoking. We checked the oil and it was a quart and a half low. It was not leaking oil. Once we added oil, it no longer idled rough or smoked. But now it has a ticking sound coming from the engine when I accelerate. It also started loosing power in certain instances. I will be accelerating and the car will start hesitating. The car only had 62,000 miles on it when this started.
Engine failed without any warning lights and had a strong burning odor, after researching gdi engine in this model and other kia models the problems were simular except for recall on the Forte model.
My vehicle was sold to me under a warranty. Upon driving the engine lost all power. Would not restart. Engine has been replaced twice by kia. As well as a replacement oil pan randomly. My long time mechanic said the oil pan wasn't needed to be replaced. 1st replacement engine was defective. In total the car has had 3 engines. Emissions problem ever since. Light on and kia has billed and used all of the warranty coverage. All documentation providable. All oil changes providable.
The car will stall while driving down the road. Suddenly. It hesitated and the check engine light keeps coming in despite going to several mechanics. What is wrong?!!!.
I have the Forte koup sx tgdi trim. I was driving on freeway at 75-80 mph. I noticed I was not able to gain enough speed to pass slower traffic. Also noticed that once speed slowed to 65-70 mph the was no power when trying to accelerate. However the car still was able to regain speed and maintain once desired speed was reached. I then heard a noise when accelerating. It sounded as if something was binding up. I assumed it was the turbo. I pulled off an exit shut the car off. I let the car sit for a minute and then started it. The engine seemed to be louder than normal. I put the car in drive and could hear the noise in the turbo again but it was not as if something was binding it was it was loud air. I drove approx. 1 block and noticed smoke. I pulled over shut the car off and looked under the hood walked around the car did not see any smoke from anywhere. Turned the car back on, no smoke, engine was quieter, drove another block and began billowing behind the car the engine at this point came on. Pulled into a parking lot shut the car off and did a walk around. White smoke was coming from both exhaust pipes. Had car towed to kia dealership. They have had the car over a month. Spool on turbo flew off and oil was sucked through exhaust. The no warning lights has been explained to the failure of O2 sensors, turbo spool, and some part other being off balance to all happening simultaneously. After a month a picked the car up and have aprox 80 miles and the engine light is on. Dealership service said t is from oil burn off and nothing to clear it. My display for rear camera is not working and no eta for part to be available.
I had report the issue to kia of tupelo, ms. My card has had two recent issues. The first one being that upon acceleration, white smoke has been noted twice. The car has stalled out twice upon take off on the highway/interstate. This concern me greatly! on my most recent oil change, it was discovered that I have at least two quarts of oil shortage, with no leaks noted.
Took my kia Forte 2014 in for an inspection, and instead received an ecu upgrade due to some kia campaign sc150. After the upgrade, my vehicle began to have issues. The very same day after leaving dealership, my car began to stall and blow a lot of white smoke from exhaust. I was pulled over by a stranger who informed me of that the white smoke exhausting blinded his view. Kia has been disregarding this safety concern.
I was changing the oil on my car and noticed that a hose below the car broke and was leaking some type of fluid. I noticed this about 30 minutes ago, but the issue could have been going on for much longer.
This car has several issues which I have found other 2014 owners having the same issue as I do. The headlights and taillights take turns going out. I am to the point about every 5 weeks I am replacing a burned out light. One headlight will go out then I fix that. A few weeks later I will get pulled over for a taillight. Being out. One officer told me he was giving me a warning because his wife has the same issues with her lights going out. I will replace the taillight then a few weeks later the other headlight will go out then the other taillight will go out. I find myself always replacing a light. I've pulled up to many Forte owners to let them know a taillight was out and they all say "again" the lights are a major problem. Also my driver side window won't go all the way up. I have had the problem fixed then about 6 months later the same problem happened again where the window will go almost all the way up but it still leaves a little gap in the window for air to come inside which will cause your car to rock back and fourth from the air flow in and out. Its dangerous as it has even pushed me into the other lane from the air pressure coming through the opening in the window.
On two occasions I have smelled gas when starting the vehicle. The date above is the second time. The first was after the car had been parked for 3-4 days after a snow storm in late 2013. The brakes vibrate when stopping on a rough surface. Kia consumer affairs attributes this to the design of the anti-lock system and apparently does not consider it a problem. On one occasion - again during a period of cold weather in late 2013 - the gears ground when turning at maximum rotation to parallel park the car in a tight spot, a common occurrence in the urban area where I live. Unlike the braking and gas-leak problem, this only happened once. Due to an issue with possible odometer tampering I have not taken the car to a dealer to address the other problems for fear they will try to mask evidence other than the scratch on the driver door.
