Hydraulic:antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip:control unit/module is failing, causing traction control and abs to turn off. Dealership diagnosis is that moisture probably got in it causing the issue and the unit needs to be replaced. Kia has recalls in place for this same unit on their 2006-2010 sedona and 2007-2009 sorento vehicles (recall number 20v088000, recall date 02/14/2020), but not for the 2010 kia Forte. Sounds like the same issue. Luckily we are getting it replaced before an accident occurred, but others may not be as fortunate. New replacement part is currently not available, so having to replace it with a used one that could possibly develop the same issue.

I tooken my 2017 kia Forte in to the dealership countless occasions for the same issue and still with no avail. As I'm driving the car all of a sudden the car starts shaking the engine light goes on then the car either shuts off on its own then got to wait it out for it to start. If I go to turn on the ac the car also shuts off. I've almost gotten hit due to the car un reliability.
Had this car from the end of 2017. After one year there was a recall done on it for the spark plugs and coil. Not even 7 months after get it done the next set they add in the car almost bottom out on me with my child in the car and someone almost ran in the back of me. They fix it took a week to get my car back. And now I feel like something is going wrong with the transmission I ask the dealership is it time for service and they said no. I am a little worried about that. I say on top of all my service to the vehicle.
While vehicle is in motion on a city street, several warning lights popped up on the dashboard: electronic pwr steering, electronic stability indicator, tpms tire pressure, malfunction indicator lamp, autonomus emergency brake, adaptive front lighting , and low tire pressure warning lights. At the same time that all those lights turned on (while in motion) the odometer and speedometer needle stopped registering speed and dropped to zero on both gauges along with the temperature gauge as well. I proceeded to put the hazard lights on and pull over safely. Once stationary I placed the car in park, then the gear shift locked up and would not unlock. After about 20 minutes of being stationary on the side of the road, I was able to engage the gear shift, place it in drive and proceed down the road. While the vehicle was in motion the warning lights proceeded to stay on and the speedometer/odometer were not registering speed throughout the remainder of my trip.

I purchased this vehicle Dec. 2017 with 318 miles. Vehicle began to sputter when trying to start. First time, towed in was told nothing was wrong. Went home, next morning the vehicle sputtered to start. After 3rd try & loud sounding, I popped the hood & the entire engine was shaking in its cradle. Towed in again, dealership diagnosed coils misfire & replaced. Vehicle duplicated the same problem a week later. I replaced the battery. Vehicle would not start again the next day. Third time, dealership diagnosed fuel pump but ended up replacing the entire fuel injection system because replacing the fuel pump did not fix the matter. They had my vehicle for 2 full weeks. Had the vehicle back 2 days, vehicle would not start but continued to sputter. Dealership has now had my vehicle 5 weeks, first said they couldn't get it to duplicate the problem but kept my vehicle anyway. Then said coils were bad even though they just replaced them 3 months ago something is causing the coils to misfire. I have no answers. Even with kia consumer affairs involved, no one has an answer. At one point kia consumer affairs called to ask me how the vehicle was running because the dealership told them they did not even have my vehicle anymore. I thought I was going to have to make a report to my insurance carrier. My vehicle has 30,000. I've maintained regular oil changes & other required maintenance as suggested, faithfully.
When trying to accelerate my vehicle stalls and hesitates to increase speed. Before picking up speed, it jerks forward before gradually getting faster.
While driving the crash response systems turns on & shows error codes which has caused vehicle to stop by it self. Also the driver assist has pulled my wheel out of my hand & jerked had to the right side of the road while driving on highway several times. . . . The left strut mount bearing is also defective on the vehicle.

All of the sudden my traction control is showing to be off and my brake lights are illuminating even when my car is off. It doesn't seem to be driving any differently or braking any differently. However, my 2 year old was able to start the car and shift it into reverse without having to use the brake pedal when he got in the car while I was trying to figure out how to turn the lights off because it is killing my battery. Luckily no one was injured. I see that there is recall 17v773000 on 2012 models which seems to explain my issue exactly. Why is my 2010 not included?.
Takata recall when turning my vehicle off there is a ticking coming from the computer when sitting still it will car will aisle up in try to take off a little with the foot on the brake it also shakes when the vehicle is in park and l I have reported these problems before and the head gasket had to be replaced in the motor on the vehicle a little after the warranty replacement was done the ticking begin again under the hood and the shaking and everything is starting over again and I keep taking it to the dealership and they keep telling me they don't see anything wrong which is exactly like the first time when I was start taking it before they had to replace the head gasket in my motor.

One morning I started the car and the "check engine" light came on. The car also made a knocking/ticking sound that was not usual and the engine had an abnormal sound to it when stationed and in motion. It progressively got worse, especially as it was driven to the dealer right after the light came on. We brought it into the dealer we bought it from and found out that the light was for a code about the intake manifold (butterfly) valves not opening/closing properly. It later ended up being complete internal engine failure due to the connecting rod bearing failing. The car required a completely new engine because of this. It only had 82,000 miles on it when the problem occurred. It also had problems starting occasionally before the check engine light came on. The dealership also found that the vehicle control module (vcm) was bad and needed to be replaced as well at the same time of the engine failure.

I got into an auto accident a year ago and the airbags did not deploy but the vehicle was considered a total loss. I discovered that my vehicle was still drivable because I can't afford another one. Well just the other day my inside dash lights and brake lights , well basically all lights started flashing in and out. Made the car break down in the middle of the road. I bought a new battery. New fuel pump, checked starter and alternator. All of those are functioning properly. But my car is still broke down on the side of the road.
Low beams are dull not able to drive in the dark. Estimated sight distance of low beam lights 200 ft. Passengers in my car ask if I have my lights on. On coming cars flash their lights as a signal to turn on my lights. I have to drive with highbeams after dusk for viability and for cars on the road to be able to see my lights. The electric dash board will not illuminate at times; having to turn off the car and turn back on multiple times for the dashboard to light up. The low beams are consent every time I am stationary, in motion, reverse, parked. The electric dashboard is when starting the car, stationary when at red lights with the break on.
In August 2018, my son started the car and the instrument panel was not operational and all warning lights were lit. Car still drives. (see pic). In November 2018, we took the car to kia. After 2-3 days, they were not able to replicate, and said to bring it in when it occurs. Unfortunately, it always occurs after his practice (@6pm), hottest time in s. Texas and the service department is closed. From 31may-7jun2019, my son sent me videos of it happening (5 different days). Summary: problem occurs during hot days at start up (turning car off/on will not reset), vehicle will operate but without instrumentation, and it eventually resets itself when he starts it up after work or the next day. During one episode in June, he headed to kia; during the drive the door locks started locking and unlocking and he heard clicking noises. When all this stopped, the tachometer started working but the warning lights and instrument panel was still inop. He pulled over, turned off the car, (to inspect it) and when he started the car again everything worked. The car was purchased on or about July 2017. Less than 2-years old and under warranty. The car was dropped off on 10june2019 and as of today 13jun2019, they do not know what the problem is. Concerns: problem is becoming more frequent, they do not know how to fix it until it can be replicated, they will not offer a loaner or rental; nor can they tell me if the problem affects other parts of the car, or if it is safe to operate during these episodes. In addition, my son heads to college (250m away) on 13aug2019. The car is currently at world car kia, new braunfels, texas.
Tl- the contact owned a 2014 kia Forte lx. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the contact detected an abnormal smell. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was parked while the ignition was still on. The contact first detected smoke coming from under the hood and then fire right after. A police report was filed. The fire department extinguished the fire. The firefighters informed the contact that the vehicle was severely damaged and the cause of the fire was not determined. The contacts significant other suffered burns on the right hand thumb. No medical attention was required. The vehicle was a complete loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Dr.
When driving my car, my headlights are flickering/cutting off and on. I"ve talked to Kia Motors several times and have taken my vehicle back to the service dept at the dealership 3 times but the problem is not resolved. I know this is a safety issue and im afraid to drive my car at night. Please help me resolve this issue.
On Saturday March 26th, 2018 I wss driving north bound on i471 in kentucky. Doing about 50-55 mph while it was snowing/sleeting outside. As I was traveling another vehicle swerved over to get in exit lane while at same time on a right turn around exit lane. Once car did so, I had to press hard, slam on my brakes to avoid being clipped by other vehicle. As I did this I began to spin nor, the esc or traction control took over and I spun out of control striking guard rail at unknown speed. I was uninjured, however as u can see lots of damage to front and driver side airbag did not deploy. I contacted kia right away do to the recent recalling brake stop pedal. I took pictures they required andcs3nt them as, too they were concerned of non airbag deployment. They determined via an engineer with in their dept. Just by looking at photo's that airbag should not have deployed. So, my issue with this is they are making a determination by not physically having vehicle damage to make assumption airbags never deployed. Upon looking at other complaints on here about the same time as mine. This maybe a concern going forward. I have given said automaker to help with repairs from accident. And they seem to trying to avoid these problems with said vehicle.
When driving the brake lights continuously illuminate. The bulbs in the tail light burn out frequently on average of 60-90 days. .

I keep replacing light bulbs and the part where u introduce the light bulbs is melting. I was told to check for recall on these. Thanks. I bought this car used from a dealer 1 yr ago and had replaced like 4 bulbs within a year.
The contact owns a 2015 kia Forte. While driving at any speed, the contact lost control of the vehicle while driving over a bump in the road. The contact stated that the weather conditions also contributed to her being unable to control the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. The vehicle was driven to steve landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (401 colonel glenn plaza loop, little rock, ar), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 200.

The steering wheel clicks really bad. My steering wheel components are no longer working. The airbag light has also come on with these issues.
Hello, I am currently having issues with my 2010 kia Forte. The vehicle has been struggling to accelerate and soon eventually began to feel as if it were going to stall out all together every time I stepped on the gas. The check engine light came on and after diagnosing the code, it read p0336 (crankshaft position sensor a circuit range/performance). After some research I found that apparently there is a recall on these engines for what appears to be the same issue I am currently having. I looked up my vehicles VIN on this website and was notified that there is not currently an open recall even though I had just read that hundreds of thousands of vehicles of the same make and engine type (theta 2) were being recalled for crankshaft issues. Would like to have my car checked out via recall measures. The safety of my family is in question due to these known issues.
While setting in parking lot with car in park and engine running, multiple instrumentation failure, anti slip, tire pressure, a. B. S. Check engine light, regular braking light, engine miss firing. . . Rough shifting, was able to limp car to closed kia dealer. . On a Sunday night. . They kept car 3 days. . Could not find why car has multiple failures. . They called kia engineer . . Still had no clue as to problem. . Finally. . Said they cleared 2 codes from computer. . Car ran good . . For 2 days. . Then when wife was driving to work in lutherville MD. Again multiple failures. . She had almost no braking . . Had to drift car into nationwide kia. . Parking lot a few blocks from her work. . They had car for almost 2 weeks. . With no clue as to why for second time in a few days. Same failures again. . Transmission felt and sounded like it was coming out of car. . . They said later they started it. . And only a. B. S. Was lit. . And when they restarted car a. B. S. Light was off. . With still no answer why it is failing. . Car is very very unsafe to drive. . We have lost all confidence in vehicle, . . It is a danger to my wife and public. . . We have notified. . Hagerstown kia. . Also kia corp. Hagertown kia. . Said it's not their problem. . With no regard for the safty of my wife. . Or the public. .
Esc light flashing numerous times with loss of power while on dry, straight road. Vehicle in for repairs found a connection and electrical problem. Did not fix problem. Had kia tech in and certified the vehicle as safe. This was in September and October 2015. The same indications and power loss occurred again in August and September 2016. In every case it happened in traffic causing an unsafe and dangerous situation for me my family and the other vehicles in the traffic. To date the dealer or kia has found the problem. The car was in motion (50 mph or less) city streets or road and not turning, in moderate to heavy traffic.
Intermittently, on days of excessive heat (110+) the car will start up with all sensor lights illuminated, cannot shift into gear without pushing the gear shift override button, power steering doesn't work, skid control on, and ac blows hot air. Once it cools down the issue stops and won't present itself again unless very specific conditions are met. Happened first year after having the car, in the summer. Service center couldn't reproduce the issue. Summer year 2, issue happened again, with pictures, service center used heat gun to reproduce the problem. Transmission range sensor/neutral safety switch was replaced. Summer year 3. Issue happened on 118 degree day when starting up car. A week later happened on the freeway while driving on another 118 degree day. New issues include tachometer and speedometer stay at 0 even while driving. Also, display that shows range and gas mileage stopped working properly. Range would adjust when gas peddle pushed, mpg stayed blank and did not come back after car had rested and cooled down.
Car would not come out of park. I had no idea at the time what the issue could be because in the kia owners manual it does not state that once the brake lights go out, you can not take it out of park. Car would not go into gear until I used the shift lock release to take it out of gear. Drove it home and found a blown fuze (brake light fuse) . . Replaced it and drove fine (while it was doing this the electrical suspension light came on also). Fast forward 7 days, was driving out of town and the suspension light came on while driving down the expressway and I knew then the issue was back. Sure enough. Had to take it to a kia dealership out of town . . They replaced my fuze, brake light bulb and brake light assembly switch. Fast forward a week and a half and the problem is back . . . Kia is telling me over $1000 and I'm not going to be guaranteed that this will fix the problem. I'm a single mother and purchased this car because I felt it would be a safe car for me and my son and now I'm stuck with a car that is not safe . . . No brake lights are seriously not safe at all!!!.
September 24th at 6:30 a. M. Travelling at 65mph on 91 freeway. Start to slow and then stop for traffic. Traffic starts to speed up and my vehicle goes into ‘limp mode’. Car rev meter goes up to about 5, but car will not go faster than approx. 35 mph. Then within 20 seconds car surges forward and regains speed and rev counter drops to normal. Take car to kia dealer its plugged into the computer. At 3pm he says there are no error codes. He and I take it for a test drive for approx. 20 miles and it does not replicate the problem. I advise him that it has done this twice before but only for a few seconds. October 1 at 6:40a. M I am traveling to work on the 91 freeway. I am doing 65 mph and start slowing down to approx. 20 mph as I pass the 55 interchange. Again traffic speeds up rapidly. I am in the middle lane. I accelerate and it goes into ‘limp mode’. The car will not go faster than approx. 35/40 miles per hour. The esc light comes on. Cars are going past me as I am in a middle lane and I nearly get rear ended as a car behind me does not realize my speed. I pull into the slow lane just in case I need to pull to the hard shoulder. I continue slowly 5 miles to get off the freeway by work. I notice a burning smell. I get out of my vehicle and smell a very strong smell of burning that smells all over but appears to be very much stronger on the rear drivers side area. I turn the engine off. When I turn the engine back on there is no warning indicator on.
Kia Forte ex 2014 esc light came on and my brake lights wont light up when steping on the brake. The brake pedal feels stiff when braking to a stop. Checked all pugs and bulbs and they all are good, called dealer and was told it might be the brake light switch and will take me in on Monday.
On two occasions I have smelled gas when starting the vehicle. The date above is the second time. The first was after the car had been parked for 3-4 days after a snow storm in late 2013. The brakes vibrate when stopping on a rough surface. Kia consumer affairs attributes this to the design of the anti-lock system and apparently does not consider it a problem. On one occasion - again during a period of cold weather in late 2013 - the gears ground when turning at maximum rotation to parallel park the car in a tight spot, a common occurrence in the urban area where I live. Unlike the braking and gas-leak problem, this only happened once. Due to an issue with possible odometer tampering I have not taken the car to a dealer to address the other problems for fear they will try to mask evidence other than the scratch on the driver door.
Esc light stays on, brake lights don't work, and cruise control works sporadically, all fuses are working, a quick google search reflects that the a faulty brake light switch might be the cause, which in fact it was.
Upon parking my vehicle, I could not shift out of drive or neutral, resulting in an inability to put my car in park and remove my keys. As I was unable to do this, I could not leave my vehicle and feared it could roll from its parking spot. At this time, the rear brake lights were not coming on when I would press the brakes. Also, my esc control lights came on indicating this function was no longer working. When talking with the dealership, I learned there is an identical problem with other models that has resulted in a recall. However, my Forte was not included in this recall. After many attempts to restart my vehicle over fifteen minutes, I was finally able to put the car in park. However, my esc light remained on after this.
