1 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 02/10/2021

I received an email from carfax notifying me of a recall for my car pertaining to a possible fire, I called dealership to set up appointment and found out there was 2 recalls for my car but never once received any notification from kia. My appointment was for the coming Saturday but on Wednesday after I parked and ran into the grocery store for less than 15mins I came out to a gentleman who asked if this was my car, when I looked at it I was confused because all the windows were black and smoke was coming I believe from either the hood or window, he said your car is on fire. Before I knew what was happening there were fire trucks and police. My entire inside of my car behind the dashboard and all electrical wires were burned the entire dashboard steering wheel radio everything. My car was destroyed, I called my insurance company right away as the police advised me too and later on a friend gave me the number to the kia consumer assistance where I notified them.

3 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/09/2018

The cover of the antenna ("shark fin") has fell off possibly due to a carwash. The cover protects the antenna and potentially some other wiring in the car and its radio. The manufacturer (kia) does not replace the (plastic) cover, but rather changes the whole antenna wiring to the radio. This costs (in the DC area) about $650. I do not see the reason why the manufacturer does not have a more inexpensive solution for this rather potentially frequent problem. Is it reasonable to ask for that much money in order to solve an easy to fix problem that if not fixed might mess with the electronics of your car? I think not.

4 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 12/16/2017

Made a turn at approx 12 mph. Car bumped into neutral when groceries tipped over. Heater, radio, and engine all quit. Could not be restarted, vehicle had zero power. Stranded in intersection. Towed to repair, informed engine had seized due to over-revving in neutral. Had zero power, could not over-rev. Kia and warranty company refusing any responsibility or coverage. Being told it needs a new engine and a new starter. Estimated repair $8500, more than twice bluebook value. I see after research this is a common problem with kia vehicles of this era. Approx. 83000 miles, all service up to date. I notice on the aul report the amount of wear on the engine, and the description of the damage using words like "heavily scored and worn to copper backing. " I find it hard to believe this kind of damage could have been done in the minute or so the car was in neutral, especially since driver was aware of what had happened. (she saw the groceries tip over and hit the shifter).
