1 Suspension problem of the 2022 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 11/19/2025

The front passenger-side lower control arm on my 2022 kia Forte fractured completely without warning during normal driving conditions. There was no collision, curb strike, pothole impact, or accident. The fracture appears clean and brittle, not bent or deformed. The failure caused suspension misalignment, damage to the cv axle, and uneven tire wear, creating a loss-of-control risk. The vehicle was inspected and no impact damage or deformation was found on surrounding suspension components. Kia has denied warranty coverage, stating ‘external forces’ caused the failure, but has provided no physical evidence, documentation, or explanation to support that conclusion. This appears to be a premature failure of a safety-critical suspension component. A sudden control arm fracture presents a serious steering and safety hazard and should not occur under normal operation the dealership indicated that they had a written explanation attributing the failure to ‘external forces,’ but when I requested supporting details, photographs, or physical evidence of impact, none were provided at the time. I was told that further explanation or documentation would not be available until a manager review at a later date. As of filing this complaint, no physical evidence supporting an external-force determination has been shown.

6 Suspension problem of the 2023 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/26/2024

My brand new 2023 kia Forte lxs (koa the kia)'s lower right control arm is completely broken, the rack & pinion inner tie rod end is bent, as well has damage to bottom coverage panel, right side rims scratches and scratched under bumper paint from collapse. In March of 2024, the vehicle completely collapsed on the road, and felt like the car was dangerously floating. By the good grace of god, my children and I made it home safely. I was not aware of how tremendous the damages were, until maxcare directed me to have a tow company transport my new vehicle to a manufacturer, ed voles kia in atlanta, GA, where the right tire was completely disconnected from the vehicle. Ed voyles kia has had the vehicle since the collapse, and has been inspected with an invoice for future references. The vehicle would make loud popping noises, depending on the steering wheels position while operating the vehicle. I took it upon myself to get the issue checked out in little rock, ar at landers kia in February 2024, personally thinking it was the brakes (though just purchased). Other than unappealing noises, and a floating feeling while driving, there were no other warnings to anticipate such a grueling tragedy.

7 Suspension problem of the 2022 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/23/2024

I've been experiencing issues with steering loosening/tighting for over 1 1/2 years. 21,000 miles since I first reported the issue 5/23/24. Within a few months of reporting the steering issue,I started having issues with my car not staying in alligment after a few hundred miles. There are no warning lights. The tension in my steering wheel is inconsistent in a way that it shouldn't be. At first,I only noticed it at hwy speeds. Now,I notice it even at lower speeds. The faster the speed the worse it is. My steering wheel will have the stiffness it should, then suddenly briefly loosen, then go back to normal stiffness. Which causes constant minor corrections, risking over correcting leading to a wreck. I have had a couple close calls. As time has gone on,it's just gotten worse. It's now to a point that it's sketchy to drive on the freeway & nearly impossible (if not impossible)to drive on the freeway if its windy. I no longer drive the freeway & find back roads to drive at slower speeds & less traffic. I constantly feel all over the road & like the car is gonna wobble out of control. Picture taking your steering wheel & making frequent(almost constantly now)slight back and forth, back and forth, movements, that's basically what it feels like. The higher the speed while doing that, the higher risk to wreck. When I feel like I'm gonna wobble out of control,I tightly grip the steering wheel, straighten&lock my arms,& let off the gas &let the car slow on its own. I feel if I use the brakes in that moment,I'd lose control. It's almost like it briefly gets too much power steering,or disengages maybe?dealership initially said I just need new tires & alligment (all tire tread @6)11/20/24 new tires&alligment. 6 alligments&cameras calibrated in 3,285 miles. Gave up after 7. 3/25/25 dealership replaced steering column, housing,& reprogrammed. For a short while it helped, but didn't fix steering or alligment. Kia customer care has said to get a 2nd opinion. Wish I could write more on here. Multiple appts.

The contact owns a 2019 kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would pull to the right and drift to the left. Also, while driving at highway speeds the vehicle would shake and rattle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who recommended replacing the front tires. The front tires were replaced but the failures continued to occur. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

9 Suspension problem of the 2018 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 01/25/2024

Front lower control arms were entirely rusted out to the point that one had completely detached and the other was nearly detached. Had the second arm rusted out, the risk of loosing control of the vehicle was incredibly high. Vehicle has under 75k miles and is well maintained. Was replaced and mechanic was even surprised at the state of the rise of the vehicle.

10 Suspension problem of the 2023 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 11/29/2023

The oil in the engine constantly sludges even with regular maintenance with full synthetic oil, I went over a pot hole and two of the rear lights went out and won’t go back on even after replacing bulbs and wiring harness, and the worst of all is the suspension, the lower control arm and the trailing arm both have gone out after only 20k miles of light mostly highway driving, this car offers nothing but problems it’s no surprise that they discontinued the model it’s an absolute nightmare. I bought it brand new and it feels like I’m going to die in it, every speed bump or pot hole I go over feels and sounds like I’m hitting a wall, I’ve replaced the ball joints and am thinking about replacing the control arms because I’m worried they are going to break. I completely understand that living in san fernando valley there are worse road conditions than usual but I’ve never had a car fall apart like this from driving out here. What’s worse is even after having to have parts replaced with oem parts immediately the replacement parts are beginning to wear out, I can’t go over speed bumps that are higher than a few inches without scraping the bottom of the car because the car is riding low, I suspect the coils and struts are also already going out also, just the most terribly engineered vehicle, I don’t know if it’s due to something that should be recalled but it absolutely feels like it is to me and I know many other people are suffering through the same issues with their Fortes.

12 Suspension problem of the 2023 Kia Motor Forte

Clunking when going over bumps especially when turning into a driveway. Started at about 20,000 miles along with excessive clicking when turning the steering wheel.

13 Suspension problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

There is an unknown smell (kind of smells like carbon monoxide) when cranking up my car. There is this knocking noise that I continue to hear as if something is loose under my car, but when inspected, nothing was loose. It happens when I hit a bump or go over a hump in the road. The unknown smell scares me as this could be potentially hazardous to me and drivers around me. The knocking noise is terrifying making me feel as though my car is going to break down on me at any moment because of something that can’t be detected.

14 Suspension problem of the 2023 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 09/22/2023

Front lower control arm recalled since September 2023. As of April 2024 recall not remedied dispite multiple visits to the dealership and contacting kia directly.

15 Suspension problem of the 2023 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

2023 kia Forte lxs drives unsteady requiring continuous correction of steering: feels excessive bumpiness/bounciness in the front end with subtle abnormal sideways movement (as if drifting away or swaying). It also feels the vehicle has subtle but sudden shaky movements and looseness in the wheel leading up to steering but no vibration. This is felt at both slow speed and highway speed. Dealership service dept. Has already checked the wheels alignment, balancing and suspension, and found them to be okay. To me, the symptoms suggest faulty steering system such as steering linkage or steering column. However dealership now refuses to acknowledge the issue calling it a normal function of the vehicle. Every time I drive the vehicle, it feels unsafe. Dealership also does not accept my requests to investigate the steering system. In fact they shut the door at my face.

19 Suspension problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 12/06/2022

No accident to report. This will will be my second time replacing suspension springs and brake light assembly. I have reason to believe that the 2013 kia Forte ex model has a recall on these item because my car isn't the only vehicle in for these exact issues. I wish to have these investigated because this is becoming most costly than expected.

20 Suspension problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 06/24/2022

On June 24, 2022 I was driving my vehicle on 435n to work. My steering wheel jerked to the left and started spinning out of control. I was driving at 60mph in the inside lane. When my steering jerked it caused me to turn headfirst into the inside wall. I proceeded to spin out of control across 3 lanes of rush hour traffic, clipping a second vehicle, before smashing into the outside wall and then resting in the outside lane horizontally. I was rushed to the emergency room where I suffered a broken back. Upon looking at the recalls and safety issues with my vehicle there was a recall #17v773000 for the brake pedal stopper; a most recent.

21 Suspension problem of the 2010 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/29/2021

My kia was jus fine driving down to my daughters house which is an hour n half where I live. Where all of a sudden engine light came on and a knocking sound came on slight noise. I kept an eye on the noise and vehicle. When we stopped I checked all the liquids and everything was fine. We had to take care of some things then on our way home it was sounding horrible and all of a sudden the check engine light was on, oil light and battery light. So I pulled over and called to have my car towed home. I did not want to risk anything worse, but honestly I think it is the worse for absolutely no reason for when there is no leaks and all fluids are full.

24 Suspension problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/05/2018

I purchased the kia from a car dealership with fake carfax. I was told that it's a excellent condition and working vehicle no problems or recalls. I got a car loan on it and a week later I received a recall letter and. 25 Suspension problem of the 2016 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

I was involved in a fairly serious front end collision and the airbags did not deploy. The impact was at the right front frame rail and corner. The impact was enough to push a full sized Chevrolet pick up sideways approx. 6 feet. I was traveling at approx 35-40 mph in a straight line when the truck pulled out straight across the road in front of me causing me to collide with it broadside at the trucks left front wheel area.

26 Suspension problem of the 2016 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

After my 5k mile oil change, this was the first oil change. I had to take it back because of a loud ticking sound. I overheard the service suprv say that there was a defect on Fortes. But, he tried to tell me that nothing was wrong until I told him what I heard him say over the walkie. Then, they kept the car and changed the pulley system. Now, here's another problem. Not sure if it's related to the pulley issue. 1st time, I was driving on the hwy going about 70mph in 6thgear and it popped out of 6th to neutral. I looked down because I didn't know what happened. I quickly put it back into 6th. 2nd time. February 23rd 2017 I was driving 75 mph on I-20 passing redoak, TX and the gear popped out of 6th into neutral. Scared me, I immediately shifted it back to 6th. I made an appt the next day after the 2nd incident and wad told they couldn't duplicate the problem. If it gets worse to bring it back. It did it again on that Sunday, March 5th 2017 while I was driving 75 - 80 mph to louisiana. Now, I have a log and will log every time it happens and im going to take the log with me when I go back to kia service dept.

27 Suspension problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/08/2016

First, instrument cluster intermittently fails and show incorrect range and fuel levels. Speedometer shows car is going 0 mph even when car is moving. Tachometer shows 0 rpm even when car is idling or moving. This has happened two times since 3/8/16. Second, brake pads provided on car are cheap and do not have range I changed the brake pads and rotors for the first time at 10k miles. Third, ventilation system doesn't operate properly and I can intermittently smell burning plastic coming from vents, fan doesn't operate over the 3 setting and a/c doesn't blow cold. Finally, shocks and struts are sub par had to replace at 10k miles due to tire cupping.

28 Suspension problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 02/12/2015

I have been driving my 2014 kia Forte ex for almost 2 years now. Leased it brand new the day it landed on the lot. I only drive it to work and back as we have a 2014 kia sorento we do all our family travelling in. I took the Forte to the dealership today as I was having issues with the bluetooth, the check engine light was on and there was a hollow tumbling sound coming from the rear of the car. Upon inspection the service associate informed me that the tires were tore up. I explained to them that the car only had 33500 miles on it and I had brought it in at 6000 miles to have the alignment fixed because it was off then as well. The mechanic checked the alignment today and told us the rear axle is not right, looks like it came off the assembly line that way. As this time kia doesn't know what they can do for me, but the car is still brand new, they need to make it right!.
