Tl-the contact owns a 2003 kia Optima. The contact stated that while parked, the vehicle's door locks failed. The contact tried using the remote and could lock the doors but not unlock them. The contact has been using the keys to unlock the doors. When the car is placed in park the doors stopped automatically unlocking the doors. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or repaired, however the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 98,000.
Passenger door locks and will not unlock without pushing the unlock button and pulling the door handle at the same time. It takes about 5 to 10 minuets to get door open using this method. This is a serious safety issue which could trap a person in their car.
