Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problems of the 2011 Kia Motor Optima

I was driving forward, in motion, my kia Optima 2011 on a highway when I began to notice a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. I immediately became concerned, slowed down, and stuck to the right lane. Then, 15 minutes after first hearing this loud noise, I could not accelerate anymore as the noise became louder. Then I heard a small crash/explosion, smoke came out from the hood, it began to smell terrible and I was truly scared for my life in trying to stop the car on the curb, unable to see where I was driving because of the smoke and unable to control the car. Thank god I was able to stop on the side of the road, and had to have the car towed by geico. My car has only 88k miles and I have had it since 2014�this is utterly acceptable to have an engine blow out so suddenly, at so little mileage, and put my life in danger. I was driving on the highway travelling straight in traffic at about 50 mph when my car stalled. I was able to restart it, then it stalled again. Then I restarted it one more time. Then it made a grinding clunking sound like something snapped and was getting whipped around by the moving parts. Then it had no throttle response and I was forced to pull over into the breakdown lane as the car no longer was running.

Steering wheel has a clicking noise and a play. Also engine light comes on and off.

Driving on interstate, out of nowhere engine light started flashing and engine seized, car lost all momentum, had no "get up and go" pushing on the gas pedal did nothing, going up hill was almost impossible. Took car to local auto shop, they could hear some noise but weren't sure what. Per invoice 7/26/checked codes: p0011 a camshaft position timing over advanced, p00114 b camshaft position timing over advanced; p1326 engine damage alert for driver. Engine was noisey and ran very rough, oil level was low and black (we saw nowhere that it was leaking oil, no spots anywhere). Changed oil and add lucas engine stabilizer, engine quieted and runs much smoother. Clear codes, test drive, watch scan data. No codes, possible early stages of engine damage if codes return inspect timing chain and control devices. Took car home over the weekend drove less than 50 miles, Sunday 7/28/19 again, engine light came on and car had no "get up and go" and a very loud clanking noise could be heard. Took car to shop ASAP. Per invoice 7/31/check cel light and loss of power, check fluids, engine has internal noise/damage; computer datascan, check codes, diag, p1326; engine damage alert for driver, recommend further diag eval, inspect lower end and timing chain. Auto shop contacted local kia dealership, was told they warrant engines with these conditions. They have a number of vehicles waiting to be repaired already, suggested calling a dealer out of town for repairs.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 kia Optima. While driving 80 mph, the oil light illuminated and the contact heard a load clunking noise. The engine seized and the contact was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the highway. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 18v363000 (air bags) and 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact was the original owner and did not receive either recall letter from the manufacturer. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 109,000.

Vehicle in motion on florida I-10e doing about 70 mph. Car started making a ticking sound and gas peddle started pulsating. Tried to make it to nearest exit 112 but noise kept getting louder and louder and then there was a loud bang. White smoke appeared, engine and oil lights came on, and car completely shut down. Was able to move to side of road and called for tow.

There's a ticking in my motor when first starting up n last about 5-10 mins afterwards and also a clanking and popping sounds in steering even worse when hitting a hole or going across intersections or railroad crossings steering slips some going down the road at various speeds.

Vehicle was accelerating at 60 mph on the highway when the engine shut off, no power. The vehicle had enough momentum to drift across the slow lane to the shoulder. Car did restart. A child was in the vehicle and thankfully they were not rear-ended. This incident happened a second time while accelerating and prompted with clicking noises under the dash. The vehicle was brought to our local mechanic who stated that the engine failure at 120,400 miles.

Light tapping sound was heard for approximately 3 days. On the fourth day, when accelerating to merge onto a highway, the car shut off completely and smoke came from engine compartment. Car was towed to mechanic and diagnosed with seized engine. Complete replacement of engine was only recourse. The car was regularly serviced with oil changes and no warning lights were lit.

The contact owns a 2011 kia Optima. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle made a squealing and an unusual popping sound that emitted from the front of the vehicle. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road. The front tires had seized. The vehicle was towed to dealer. The technician diagnosed that the engine block bracket fractured. As a result, the technician recommended an engine replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,273.

Driving down express when engine started to loose oil. Pulled over on shoulder, notice a clicking noise and smelled burning oil. Dealer found hole in side of engine block. Stated needs new engine and quoted and estimated price of $5,875. 64 for a used engine with 46,000 miles installed. Had car repaired at another place for $5477. 06 with 41,000 miles. This shop said the engine had a rod knock then locked up. Needs the engine replaced. This is the same 2. 4 liter engine that is being recalled for the Hyundai sonatas.
