Warning Light On problems of the 2011 Kia Motor Optima

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 kia Optima. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. There was an abnormal knocking noise. Additionally,the contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact called a local dealer paul cerame located at 11655 new halls ferry rd saint louis, mo 63033 where informed that the engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact was informed that the remedy parts were no available for the air bag warning light. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 103,000. Ap.

Clock spring problem. The airbag warning light is on. Took the car to the kia dealership and was told if it was a sorento it would be covered, but since it is an Optima it is not covered and would cost $390. 00 to replace the clock spring, as this is the diagnosed problem. Research online reveals a recall in 2012 of previous model year Optimas for the clock spring. The dealership says if the repair is not done possible injury or death could occur.

The airbag warning light came on back in November . According to the kia owners manual this means the airbags will not work. I contacted 2 kia dealers in the tampa FL area (back in November) and have not heard back from them. I guess they must be too busy or dont like doing warrenty work. Now the break lights do not work, this car is a pos.
