general problems of the 2014 Kia Motor Optima - part 2

I took my car in after smelling fuel and they said there was a tear in my fuel line and it needed to be replaced. My car was included in the recall but kia would not pay for the repairs because when they previously reviewed for recall issues they said there was no issues found. I attempted to contact kia and they did not get back to me.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 kia Optima ex 4cyl auto. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, an abnormal odor appeared under the hood. The contact went to depressed the brake pedal. The vehicle accelerate forward, causing the contact to crashed into another vehicle who was making a u-turn. The contact try to gain control of the steering wheel as the vehicle went up in flames the contact managed to crash into a ditch. The contact got out ran to the other side of the vehicle where his france was unconscious. The contact managed to cut the seatbelt with his france stuck in the passenger seat belt in the passenger seatbelt which released the his frances. He dragged her out the car while the vehicle was in flames. The airbags deployed. A polce report was made. The fire department came put to the location and extinguished the flames. The vehicle went up in flames. The contact stated that the person in the other vehicle died. The contact broke his right rest, right ancle. The contact france sustained injuries to her left legs broken, ancle right foot broken, fire burn through out her whole body and lost her lower intestine. The contact frances was taken to the hospital where she was treated for 90 days. Usaa was contacted and came out after serval months to the police lot where it was deemed a total loss. The contact mentioned that he had the recall repair done on his vehicle 4 month prior to the failure that occurred. The contact received NHTSA recall number 20v100 (fuel system, gasoline) April 13, 2020 which the contact believes cost the failure that occurred. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. Ck.

Summer 2017 the engine failed while driving with my family. The engine seized and a fire was engulfed. I was in the interstate and we feared for our life. Out of town visiting family we were stranded in another state for a month waiting for repairs. Kia took the vehicle and replaced the engine with another faulty engine that has seized several times while commuting. I have been living in fear and anxiety since this incident. I never know if I start my engine if I will loose my life. Summer 2023 3 teenagers watched a viral tic tok challenge and learned how faulty the cylinder that kia installed was. The teens then trespassed into my home, broke the windows and stole my vehicle. I have lived in fear since this has happened. I have lost jobs, income, and peace due to the purchase of this vehicle. Kia has never assisted or kept the promises they made to restore the vehicle. These past 10 years agave been a nightmare and as an african american woman I believe I was targeted as a purchaser for this make and model. My life had been hell since the purchase of this vehicle. I have not been able to satisfy payment due to repairs, thefts, fires, and more. Please anyone. Someone. Help. This is the most heartbreaking experience as an american. I have worked for my country 20 years and do not feel like an equal citizen. I have been homeless, jobless, unstable, and watched my life and family life flash before me in near death accidents involving this car. When I purchased this car I had a great job, credit score, and home. Now I have more anxiety, fear, bills, and no help with this kia.

Car hit a guard rail and exploded in fire. Driver died from burns. On interstate 8 at mp-107, maricopa county, az. Cut off by a non-impact vehicle. Driver steered to avoid contact and hit guard rail. Driver survived impact but later died of burns. About 75 mph. Passenger survived but received serious burns.

The problem is sporadic but happens frequently. If I press the gas pedal to increase my speed, whether from a stopped position, or to pull into a busy roadway, or to increase my speed to pass another vehicle, the car will start to go then choke, so that no matter how hard I press the gas pedal, the rpm stay the same and the vehicle loses power and will not speed up. If kia doesn't figure out what is causing this - because I have seen other people with different Optima vehicle years complain about this - someone is going to get killed. I have had numerous near misses because of this problem. I also see many people saying kia is telling them this is the way the vehicle is supposed to behave - really??? my car is currently at the dealer to hopefully have the problem diagnosed and fixed. They gave me a loaner car, which is a 2013 kia Optima, and guess what? pulling out of the dealership in the loaner I was almost rear ended because the loaner also has this problem, but 10 times worse than my car. It happened at least 30 times between the dealer and where I work - about a 30 minute drive. Always when speed needs to be increased by way of the gears needing to upshift. Please please please someone pay attention to this - I hope kia isn't waiting for someone to get killed before they look into this failure that is happening that their dealerships are writing off as normal function! just as I was ready to submit this complaint, my dealership called me back and surprise: "we are unable to duplicate the problem" and "no problem codes were detected. " please kia, take notice of this problem before someone gets killed!!!.

I was in a parking structure, stopped at a stop sign. I continued a few feet to my designated parking stall and when I turned the wheel the car accelerated at what felt and sounded like full throttle on it's own. The surge of the vehicle forced the car to crash into a concrete wall causing extensive damage to the vehicle and bodily injury to myself. The vehicle is only a few months old. This car has some very serious safety issues. Someone could have been killed. Now I am terrified to ever drive it again.

When leaving a stop sign . Red light or a drive way . Some times the car won't go when gas pedal is pressed. Has a delay of about 2 seconds . Have to floor the gas pedal to make it go. Very bad when other cars are behind me. Bought car may 30 2014 . Had 5 or 6 incidents already. Dealer can't duplicate problem can't get it fixed. Suspect economy system is problem. The internet has simular complaints.
