In filling the gas tank when the pump shut off gasoline poured out of the gas tank. The first time I blamed the gas station. It happened again when my daughter was filling the tank. Even after the fuel nozzle was taken out of the tank, a great deal of gasoline poured out of the tank. The dealer checked the car out and said everything was all right. Its not!.

When I fill my 2008 kia Optima with gasoline, the pump shuts off but gas gushes out of the tank. My local dealer has claimed to fix the problem, but it still happens. The service dept. Rarely answers their telephone so I can't even call them to get the problem handled.

The gas tank on this 05 kia was leaking at 78,000 miles, took it to dealer, I had to pay for labor, they furnished the new gas tank cost me $330, now at 98,000 miles it is leaking again and kia is refusing to fix it, I feel this is a safety issue, going on 3 gas tanks less than 100,000 miles. Paid dealer $95 to inspect the tank as told by kia consumer dept, dealer didnt look at the tank instead said it needed a gas valve first $400, before they would look at the tank. The dealer is lee kia, in ft walton beach FL. So I guess I just continue driving car till something real serious happens? need some help here please thank you chalmer & kasey berry.

My car began to leak fuel. I sent it into the dealer who found that the gas tank was cracked on the top side of the tank. I was further advised that the leak was not caused by any normal wear and tear or any damage. The car is still under warranty, and I replaced the fuel tank.
I am about to replace my gas tank for the 2nd time in less than a year. I am told by the dealer that the composite tanks are prone to puncture or splitting on the seams.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Optima. The contact stated that the fuel tank was defective and could only be filled partially before spilling. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who discovered that the plastic fuel tank gasket seal failed. The fuel tank was replaced several times but the failure continued to recur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to have the dealer perform a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 106,000.

The contact paid $600 for the fuel tank. The service engine light was illuminated at the time of the failures, but the dealer stated that it was unrelated. The service manager also stated that they have had several failures regarding the fuel tank. The fuel system and powertrain were unknown. The failure mileage was 72,821 and current mileage was 86,000.

The contact owns a 2003 kia Optima. The contact stated that the vehicle canister close valve failed, which caused the fuel gauge to display inaccurate readings. The check engine light illuminated and the dealer stated that a vapor hose attached to the fuel canister cracked. The dealer replaced the canister close valve and lever fender. The repair costs totaled $104; however, the repairs did not correct the failure. The dealer is now suggesting that the cluster panel will need to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 04v180000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly) and would not assist. The failure mileage was 58,671. Updated 07/29/08 the consumer stated while filling the gas tank, the pump clicked, but that gas gauge only showed 1/2 tank of gas. Updated 08/05/08.
: the contact stated when pumping fuel into the fuel tank, the fuel blew back out of the gas tank, after the auto shut off valve on the pump handle stopped. The sales/service dealer was unable to fix the problem after six attempts and when the manufacturer was notified, an offer to buy back the vehicle was made.
When I first brought the car and drove it, the lights became dim in the inside and the headlights. The radio turned off and on, took it to dealer 4-5 times for problem and they could find nothing wrong. The car doesn't pick up spend when going over hills not even little ones. The gas needle does not read full even when the tank is practically overflowing with gas. Reading a full tank of gas happens every once in a while. Check engine light comes on . Have taken to shop and was told that my spend sensor is going out and that is why the car is going from 1st to 3rd gear and skips 2nd altogether I've only had the car for one year the warrinty is gone and I was never offered the extended warrinty and really didn't think of it since the car was only 4 yr old. Back brakes have also gone out at least I think so they started grinding with no warning 2 days ago I'm going to have them checked this weekend. Air (never used befoe this summer)doesn't get cold like it should. Door lock making a crazy sound on drivers side, believe the motor is going out on power locks they also tend to not want to unlock sometimes. Atenna broke. Air bag light came on and won't turn off. Also how can I find out if any recall items have been fixed on my car or not or if they still need to be replaced.
