While driving at 71 mph with cruise control and the doors locked, the drivers seat door unlocked and opened. The open door warning light came on on the dashboard. It is available for inspection. It has not been inspected yet at this time. My safety was put in danger as I had to close the door as wind was entering the vehicle. It has only happened once about two weeks ago.

A deer ran out in front of me. I hit it head on. My hood unlatched and flew up and the hinges cut into the very top of the fenders. I don’t think a hood is supposed to pop open like this.

My Rio's trunk latch mechanism has failed for the second time. I know there may be recalls for other model years. But 2017 models may also be affected. The trunk latch mechanism will fail without warning. The remote release will not open the trunk, the key/lock will not open the trunk. Most worrisome is that the inside emergency release will not open the trunk. I checked by climbing into the trunk through the fold-down rear seat back.

The door latches have all worn out and need to be replaced. We rarely use the back doors as it is a car that is driven to work and back and there are no small children requiring frequent use. When the doors are opened and then closed there is a rattle that can be heard. I have never heard of a problem such as this and replacement is extremely expensive.

I was driving home work on the freeway and had only been on the road for 15 minutes. It was rush hour traffic and had my window down when I noticed and electrical burning smell. I thought it might be from from something outside and kept driving. The smell got stronger and stronger. After just a couple minutes of further driving smoke started pouring in from my defrost vents. I got the vehicle to the side of the road and just as I got out flames were coming from under the hood of the car and it was totally engulfed in seconds. The cause of yet unknown and under investigation from my insurance company. The vehicle has never needed any work done to it and just passed the maryland state inspection for registration 6 weeks prior to this happening.
In the front area of the vehicle there is a plastic bumper attached to to the vehicle and below in frnt of the engine there is a skirt also plastic that overlaps when parking head on and drags into the concrete surface. The probles is that this plastic bumper attached to the vehicle is pulling away the attached area of the vehicle and is creating a gap at the point of attachment to the bodyi have no control over the skirt overlapin and fear that bumper will come off at any given time. I explain the best I could. Thanks.
After every rain event, my vehicle experiences water leaks in trunk from top of trunk and driver side of trunk. I have been unsuccessful (after several months of trying) to find where water is coming in at. Vehicle was stationary. Obviously, over time the moisture in the trunk can cause damage to brake light/tail light wiring, etc.
I was driving down a suburban street when my car engine caught on fire. I was able to stop and get out of the car safely. Although I had put the car in park and used the emergency brake, it rolled down the street until it hit a telephone pole, which it set on fire. The fire was primarily on the driver's side of the car. I had no reason to expect this fire to happen. A firefighter told me it should not have happened, and to do my due diligence.
I was involved in a front to rear car accident. My kia did not have enough time to brake when the vehicle in front of me (a Honda) stopped suddenly. During the incident my kia hit the Honda's rear twice (two impact moments) - after the first impact in a moment of panic I hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and hit the Honda once more. The airbags did not go off (my safety concern/complaint). I was glad the air bags did not go off because the gases they release affect my asthma. However, if there was a passenger with me they may have been injured on the dashboard and I also could have been injured by the steering wheel since the air bags did not go off. The entire front of my kia was ruined: the hood was crumpled, the front bumper came off. The head lights were smashed, and the front sides of the body were cracked out of place. There was a crack in the box attached to the steering wheel as if it was going to open to release the air bags but nothing happened. I am not sure how much stronger the impact needed to be in order to trigger the sensor for the airbags - the impact was pretty intense. I do have images of the impact to my vehicle if it will be helpful to understand why the airbags did not release.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 kia Rio. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure in which the brake pedal was applied, it was slow to respond and hard to depress. The contact also noticed that the vehicle had a drastic reduction in speed with no warning. The contact received a customer satisfaction campaign letter from kia manufacturer, notified the dealer and the refused to provide a remedy as noted in the letter and stated that the repair was not covered by a recall. The vehicle was taken for an inspection which failed and the mechanic indicated that the brake system had extensive rust and corrosion, the vehicle was not safe to drive and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was taken to two different repair shops for diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The contact was unable to get the tags for the vehicle until the vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

We were involved in an accident where we rear ended another vehicle. The other car was at a standstill and we hit them at about 30 mphs. The driver and myself both had seat belts. The driver injuries her left knee. The airbags did not deploy. I think that if they did her knee might not have been injured because she would not have slid forward upon impact. .

I was driving approximately 60 mph and another vehicle merged into my lane. I was unable to avoid the vehicle but turned to the right and hit their rear end with my front passenger side. I was wearing my seatbelt but my face hit the steering wheel and my knee jammed under the wheel. The impact knocked my car into neutral but no air bags deployed. The emts who responded to the accident were very surprised the air bags did not deploy and said they thought they should have. The car was bought new from the dealership in 2007 and had never been wrecked, so I don't see any reason why the air bags should have been defective.
Joe myers kia & the manufacturer of kia have been fraudulent in their business with all the 2013 kia Rios rear windshield design has a defect in the construction of the build of the vehicle, the back windshield is built to high & it causes an obstruction to driverã¢s visibility. In 2007, the dot proposed a new safety regulation to help eliminate blind zones behind vehicles that can hide the presence of individuals. The proposed rule was required by congress as part of the cameron gulbransen kids transportation safety act of 2007. In addition, issued by the (NHTSA), would expand the required field of view for all cars. The kia manufacturerã¢s design of the back windshield of the 2013 kia Rios are not in compliance with the safety regulation set by neither the dot nor the proposal issued by the NHTSA nor the standards for safe driving that are set by the dps for drivers. Listed below are safety measures that the handbook includes for driving, both mirrors & windows are needed. 1. Backing up or reverse 2. Blind zones or blind spots 3. Tailgating the 2013 kia Rios design of the back windshield could take a life due to the fact that it causes an obstruction to a drivers sight. Violations below that they have committed under dot. Part 579 this regulation allocates between motor vehicle and equipment manufacturers the responsibilities under the 1974 motor vehicle and school bus safety amendments for recalling and remedying defective motor vehicles and equipment or motor vehicles & equipment not built in compliance with the law.
The passenger door won't open. And this is a problem that many kia Rio owners have with their car. Car is a piece of junk. It is by far the worst car I have ever owned.
