Hi jeff I just collected my kia Rio from service at lafontaine. On driving in the freeway I noticed I had to make frequent adjustments to the steering when going straight and there was oversteering (minor tilt of the steering wheel result in exaggerated larger turn of the car). This does not happen when driving at lower speed outside of the freeway. I will monitor this as I am not sure if this was because I was switching between cars and/or that particular stretch of road is slippery. According to the technicians the alignment is back to spec so I will let you know if this issue persists as I drive the Rio more in the coming days. Hi team the car veers to the left when driving with steering wheel straight. Tested in a clear non wet road. Please advise on next step. When driving on freeway there are over steering and understeering issues. Extremely dangerous. Yours sincerely travis.

Yes my son bought this car last year I have been checking since January there has still been no recalls on his particular car he was in a car accident and unfortunately him and his passengers were all killed. I have contacted an attorney who has sent an inspector they said initial look it look like something to do with a rod in the engine and it catching fire but from other things it’s possible he could’ve had other problems dealing with the brakes the emergency assistance. So they think possible electrical and what else they have not said. They are getting with kia to get his car moved there so they can have one of their people take it apart to preserve evidence to find out which or if many of the recalls had happened to his more happened to his car.

I bought a new kia Rio, after just 300 kilometers of use a tire exploted when I was driving, I went to kia dealer to report the incident, after days the kia answer was that it was my fault maybe beacuse I drove with low pressure in that tire or I hit an edge or I hit a hole but none of those three things happened. In the pictures you can see how the cut of the explotion is aligned with a metallic part installed in the wheel. When explotion of tire occurred I was driving in a highway, this was a dangerous situation and my safety was in risk. Tire information: brand: nexen, model: nblue hd, serial: dot 8elx labr 4619, code: nexoe306, description: 185/65r15 88h nblue hd.

Took my car to get fixed, and looked at the 2nd cly. Apparently, tons of people are having problems with the 2nd cly after looking online about it. I had them try all my coils and its not a coil problem. I had all spark plugs changed and tune up was done. There is absolutely no reason my 2nd cly to be messed up. . . ? kia I'm so disappointed in my car, why are so many problems coming up? my car is not even 5 years old!!! I expect to get answers on this and it be taken care of, I will not be paying for something when I've done my part in maintain g my car.

I was on a major interstate doing the speed limit of 65 mph when I heard a loud pop sound. The car started to shake and I thought I had a flat tire. I immediately put on my hazard lights and slowed down to reach the nearest exit ramp. I was alone in the car and thank god I had no children in the car and as soon as I reached the exit ramp I got off the exit and called aaa. They sent a tow truck but when the driver went to put the car up he noticed the right back wheel was extremely loose and then called for a flat bed. While being towed to my mechanic with the car on the flat bed the wheel came completely off. I looked online for recalls on my car and there was one issued in 4/20/2005 and I was never notified by kia or the dealer where I purchased the car about this issue when the recall began on 6/22/2005. I am worried now that I may have to pay out of pocket for this repair which Kia Motors should have notified me on.

The rear end of the car makes a weird whop whop sound when you are driving it has done this since I have bought the car and has gotten worse. When I complained to charper they told me all the kia Rios do this. I fear that a rear wheel is going to eventually come of or blow something. Cant even put windows down when driving it sounds like a helicopter is landing on the roof it is that bad. Hurts your eardrums. Happens no matter what driving condition.
The contact owns a 2004 kia Rio. While driving approximately 50 mph, the wheel bearing and the hub from both rear wheels detached. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the rear tire bearings were previously replaced multiple times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 163,000.

First the car was pulling to the driver side went to the local firestone shop and they told me the air was too low. It was only 25psi they fixed all my tyres and checked all the tire pressure then the car started pulling on the passenger's side suddenly. Started getting jerks on the steering wheel. Went to the dealer and told the alignment was off. This was a brand new kia Rio 2011 not even 6 months old. Also the didn't show me any indication that my drivers side front wheel has less air. The tire was at 25psi and it didn't show me any indication on my speed odometer nor the tpms light turned one nor the low pressure light cam up.

: the contact stated the vehicle's front end made a loud clanking noise and was taken to an independent mechanic who determined upon examination that both rotors needed to be replaced. The mechanic replaced the rotors. Then, the vehicle had problems with the rear end, and was taken to a local dealer who determined that the axle bearing was bad and that the rear wheels were bent. The dealer provided the vehicle with proper maintenance and brake service and repaired the fuel pump. The vehicle was currently at the dealer for further examination of ongoing problems. No further repairs were made. Updated 03/19/07. The fuel pump was repalced. Updated 09/25/07.
Purchased car, 2001 kia Rio, in October of 2000. Within a few days airbag light came on. This occurred several times over a one year period and had to be taken back to dealer for repair at least four times. Recall was received for fuel system. This was replaced without problem. Next problem occurred with wheels, which was also a recall. I had to order the wheels which took at least a month to come in leaving me to drive to and from work, 65 miles each way, on violently vibrating wheels. Wheels were finally replaced. Problem occurred in winter 2005 with door latch. Driver side door would lock and stay locked. Vehicle was taken to original dealer for repair only to have old part repaired while being charged for new part and labor. Within a few days, door latch failed again. Took vehicle to another dealer who ordered new part. In the meantime I waited for part to arrive, and drove around in a car whose door didn't lock, leaving my car prey to thieves, who stole things constantly from me. Finally this was fixed but, the passenger side door lock did the same thing. I look the car back to the dealer who told me that they could not fix it since my warranty was up and to fix it would cost me $700 or more. I've also noticed a problem with the car stalling in traffic. This is a new problem. Example: I stop to get gas, start the car and turn out into traffic and the car shuts down. During the winter of 2005 while waiting for door locks to come in, my driver side wheel bearing went out. This was repaired but subsequently the next day after repair while driving into work, wheel bearing literally crumbled. Had car towed to dealer who informed me that an old part was mistakenly put back on the car. This was repaired and replaced with a new part. These are all safety and quality control issues.
We own a 2001 kia recall which has a safety recall on it that requires all 4 wheels to be replaced . Our vehicle is making the noises described in the recall . We contacted ann arbor automotive matt the service person has told us kia is withholding the parts to fix these vehicles . The parts are currently on back order through kia . We have been waiting 8 weeks so far and we have been told iot could take another month to get the parts in . I am concerned for my husbands safety ,he drives this vehicle daily. I would like to stand on record now by saying if anything happens to the vehicle and cause harm or injury to my family we will take extensive legal action against kia. Thank you lillian fierro.
Kia initiated a recall on the 2001 kia Rio for replacement of the four standard steel wheels with four alloy wheels. The recall was made because of the potential that the standard steel wheels could crack lead to wheel failure. The letter indicated all 4 wheels would be replaced. I took the car to arlington kia in palatine to have the recall serviced. I presented the letter to the service department. Rather than replacing the wheels, the dealer only inspected them, indicating there was no problem. While I am glad to know this, I am not quite certain this is the right response to the issue. I am not satisfied by kia's solution. While there was no damage upon their inspection, it does not guard against development. Unsatisfied with the dealer's response, I contacted customer care to inquire whether or not the dealership had done enough I talked to steve larez, a customer care manager, who explained to me, while the letter did say kia would "replace all four original equipment wheels at no cost," what that really meant was that I would get a ten minute inspection, and if nothing was wrong, I'd be left with the potentially defective part. I find it discouraging that kia has not followed through on what was indicated in the letter. Im not sure what the NHTSA can do in this matter, since it seems to be a policy on kias part, but rather than assuring I was a happy customer, mr. Larez told me to make a complaint. The car is owned by geralyn and michael dwyer 569 victoria ln. Wood dale, IL 60191 ph# 630-521-0221 my name is zach loveland, my wife katie drives the car, the dwyers are her parents. They purchased the car for her while she was in college and it remains in their name. I can be reached at 773-695-9178 thank you for your assistance in this matter.
