Nhtsa id number: 11476858 brake lights will not go off. I found white plastic nylon washer broke into many pieces in floor board mat. It is the brake pedal pad stop washer. After researching, this is a common issue with these vehicles. This defective component has a high probabilty of causing rear end collisions due to the brake lights staying on. Nhtsa should do a safety recall on these vehicles.

I had to replace the tires on this car several times in 3 years. They alarm had a glitch that the car would not start and you had to take it specifically to a kia dealer to have they alarm reprogrammed. Even upon repairs to your local mechanic. Costing them more money and me more money because they could not get in the car by pass they alarm without using kia first to reprogram it. The brakes locked up. The lights woukd go off for airbag and stay on. The anti lick brake light would stay on . . Very dangerous. I had to spend more money to because of they alarm. Even just replacing the battery in the alarm remote cost more money for the remote and the programming of the remote . You could not just replace the battery. The tires and brakes gave me several issues in 3 years to the tube of close 3000. And that's being fair.

In the morning I was on my way to college and the sprinklers of my apartment complex where on as usual, which made puddles of water on the street. I went through one and I lost all steering power. The vehicle started to squick really loudly and all the warning lights came an in the dashboard and the a/c stop blowing cold air, I provided to turn the engine off and restarting it and then it was back to normal again. I started moving and went through another puddle and every thing I mentioned above happened again. Any time that the floor is wet I cannot use the vehicle because I loos total control of the steering.

During rain, I was driving slowly up to a stop light. The brake and battery lights started flashing on the dashboard. About a minute later, a loud screeching sound started from under the hood, and then the steering and brakes locked up for a few seconds. I regained the ability to turn the car, pulled it off the road and the screeching continued for another minute or two. It stopped when I parked my car. It is currently in the shop after I had it towed.
Head lamps, fog lamps, and blinkers won't turn on. We changed the bulbs thinking they had blown. The lights wouldn't come on when car was restarted.
Locks work very sporadically with both the remote and lock button in the car. It affects all doors except the tailgate. Driver window also has difficulty going down sporadically.
When driving the care in wet conditions, car either looses power or dies when right front wheel hits a water puddle. Even small puddles cause car to loose power. Problem seems to be that water gets on the belt very easily. Having the belts tensioners tightened helps some, but does not eliminate the problem. I live in oregon and this problem happens quite frequently. 2009 kia Rondo lx with 4 cylinder engine. Either road, highway or back roads, water puddles result in problems. Note: this is not driving through high water errors, even 1 to 2 inch puddles will do it. Continuous problem over the 5 years we have owned the car. Also speed does not seem to be much of an influence.
Takata recall-the airbags are not working for passenger. The electrical components do not work for the windows. And one more thing. The handles to open the doors are made of plastic and easily break, so you can no longer open the doors.

I was driving my car. . Then all of a sudden it started raining. . The steering went out the interior lights came on and the engine belt was making a awful noise! but what concerned me I could not control my car. . . I have look up the research of others complaining about the same problem.
The engine fan keeps running when the car ignition is turned off. This happens intermittently and when it does happen, it drains the battery.
The contact owns a 2009 kia Rondo. Whenever the vehicle drives through water and has a splash, the battery light illuminates and the power steering fails for a few minutes. Initially, the contact thought the failures were caused by heavy rain and large bodies of water; however, they occurred any time the vehicle went through water. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
While driving 30 mph, through a puddle, the car lost all ability to steer. Power felt as if it shut off for approximately 1 minute. Not the first time this has happened. Can you please investigate or do recall for whatever parts need to be replaced???.
While driving down the road at the indicated speed limit of 35 miles per hour, there was a loud thump and then my car stopped. Immediately, I was terrified. I didn't know what was going on. Someone pulled over to help me and I eased my car over to the side of the road with persons manually pushing the car because it would not start back up. I called for assistance and was towed home. Upon getting the car home, I was told that the engine is dead. I was shocked. I was told that I would end up having to replace the entire engine and that could be very expensive. My problem is that I was getting regular scheduled maintenance on the vehicle to include oil changes. I have no idea how a engine just blows like that without no warning light (electrical problem) coming on or anything. I just could not believe this. I started to do some research. I found several reports that the engine died in kia Rondo models. I contacted kia to ask them if they had looked into this since so many reports have been made. They informed me that they do not have to do anything because the NHTSA has not told them they had to. I then asked what about safety. I also said that this can cause fatalities because had I been on the highway and my car just stopped like that, I don't know what could have happened. This issue is occurring too often in this model of vehicle. And to be honest I think kia is aware of this because they actually stopped making this model. Something needs to be done. What am I to do about my transportation now that this engine is dead??? kia needs to answer for this.
To whom it may concern, on approximately, Sunday, August 10, 2014, I was driving my 2007 kia Rondo and a man hit my bumper due to the fact he could not see my brake lights (due to the manufacturer's recalled parts; NHTSA campaign numbers: 13v114000 and 09v130000). I was unaware of the recalled product until yesterday, February 1, 2015, when I was doing a google search. This whole situation has really frightened me because I am essentially driving a ticking time bomb. The brake lights are out, and the red "air bag" light is on (therefore determining that the air bags do not work; NHTSA campaign number: 12v014000), and the yellow "esc off" light is on, and does not go off. I have to continuously pop open the hood to reconnect the battery every other time attempt to turn the car on. I am a Monday-Friday 9-5 working 19 year old living on his own, and I am living to paycheck to paycheck. I am simply unable to pay for the damages due to the engineering by the manufacturer, and I am praying I will receive some type of compensation so I can have a reliable car for my daily life. Kind regards, a 2007 kia Rondo owner.
When I am driving and I hit water or slush on the road way at times my car will loss all power steering and breaking and the lights for the battery and other systems lights come on. It sometimes last for 10 second to 20 seconds. This cause my car to be unsafe for driving because all at one time you lose so much control.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 kia Rondo. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred when the a/c was activated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the compressor and the hose needed to be replaced and the system needed to be cleaned due to potential metal fragments. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000. Djr.
Every time I went through a puddle, the parking brake/brake fluid light and the charging system warning light would come on. It also lost power steering while this happened. It lasted few moments. This happened with every puddle and even on the freeway when water splashed underneath!!.
During wet weather conditions the vehicle suddenly lost power steering, braking ability and the battery indicator lamp illuminated. This has happened about a dozen times. My wife, son, and daughter have experienced the same problem in the same type of weather conditions with this vehicle. The last time it happened to me while I was in the process of making a left turn, good thing I thought quick and grabbed the emergency brake or I would have had a head on collision cause of the loss of (power steering and braking ability). Everyone in the family is afraid to use the vehicle in any weather condition since they experienced this problem.
On multiple occasions, our kia Rondo has experienced an electrical issue that affects our power steering and our dashboard lights. These have all occurred while driving in wet conditions. We drove through a small puddle in the road and our power steering failed. At the same time our seatbelt light began flashing and our brake light and battery lights came on. We were able to get off the road and everything began working again in about one minute.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Rondo. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, she turned on the air conditioner and air blew out of the vents at maximum velocity. The contact attempted to turn the air conditioner off, but it would not shut off. The contact also stated that the headlights and tail lights stopped illuminating. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and the manufacture was not notified. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage 59,000. The VIN was not available.
I tried unsuccessfully (3 time) to turn off my cruise control as traffic got slower. I was unable to get the cruise control to turn off by using the off (cancel) button on the steering wheel, tapping the brake to turn it off didn't work either. I did end up coming to a stop (skidding to a stop) in the middle of a snow bank in a field off the side of the road.
