Passenger side rr control arm rusted through which caused it to bend and caused rr tire to fold inward. Had to replace rr control arm, rr coil spring and shocks on both sides which was affected by rusted control arm. I brought it in to repair shop when I noticed a loud thump when going over a bump. This should be a recall.
Left rear lower control arm had rusted and broke while backing up in a parking lot.
While attempting to enter traffic from our driveway upon acceleration the steering wheel shook and a loud "thud" was heard within the vehicle. My wife who was driving attempted to back the vehicle into our driveway but was unable as the vehicle was unresponsive. When I got to the vehicle and inspected it, I noticed that the passenger tire was tipped outward, so I inspected the vehicle and noticed that the lower control arm had snapped and went through the transaxle rendering the vehicle inoperable. When looking at our vehicle paperwork we realized that this particular part was replaced due to a recall in 2016. We contacted the dealer who informed us that we would need to take up the complaint with kia directly. We did so and were informed that there were no active recalls on this replacement part and that they only warrantied these replacements for 12 months. We wanted to alert you to this issue as I feel that this kind of damage should not occur to a 3-year-old replacement part on a vehicle that only gets driven to take the kids to and from school daily.
Driving down the road when front control arm mount at subframe broke, causing steering and suspension to malfunction almost causing loss of control and accident. Luckily, nobody was in the oncoming lane, or I would have hit head on with another car and auto became hard to steer/control until I was able to brake down to lower speed. Kia has known recall for lower control arms rusting, but nothing per dealer for subframe rusting/breaking. This should be addressed.
While rotating the tires, I noticed that the left lower control arm was almost completely rusted through.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while pulling out of a parking lot the lower control arm broke from corrosion. The vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection and had to be towed out of the intersection. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the issue as corrosion caused by liquid road salt. The vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the issue. The contact feels her state was was being excluded from the recall for the corrosion of the control arms when nearby states are included. The dealer had not been contacted and the vehicle was not yet repaired yet until the independent mechanic researches the issue. The failure mileage had 170,000. Tf.

One of the control arms rusted completely and broke while driving. Because of this we have inspected the other control arms and they were all rusted to the point that it made the car unsafe to drive and they have been replaced. Now the car will not start periodically. I have researched and many other owner of the same make and model are having this same issue due to the anti theft device.
Existing kia recall sc133. Lower control arm needs to be replaced and vehicle is unsafe to drive in present condition to nearest servicing dealer. Manufacturer refuses to have vehicle towed in order to fix safety issues. Manufacturer refuses to call back and address issue. My vehicle has been unusable to me for apx. 3 weeks now due to kia not addressing the recall in a timely manner.
Front driver side control arm covered under recall but not replaced broke while driving, causing the axle and other front suspension parts to break, causing the front wheel to point outwards in opposite directions, and the vehicle to come to a screeching stop, from 30 mph. Vehicle was taken to kia dealer in 2013 after receiving real notice about front control arm and was told the part was fine and did not need replacing.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. While driving at a low speed in a parking lot, the lower control arm fractured as the contact attempted to make a turn. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the lower control arm was rusted, fractured, and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 200,000.

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle veered right independently and was stopped by a curb. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver side control arm detached due to corrosion and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v550000 (suspension). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. While an independent mechanic was replacing the brakes, it was discovered that the front lower control arm had severe corrosion and were about to fracture. The technician diagnosed that they needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 13v550000 (suspension); however, the dealer only rust proofed the parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
Was driving down a road at 35 mph and the front left control arm broke making us slide sideways across a road until we came to a complete stop. The front left control arm snapped making the tire point out to the left and unable to drive.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that there had been several failures that progressed before any notification of the three recalls: the headlamps shorted and were replaced 27 times, the hatch failed to secure when being opened and had to remain closed due to the failure, and, while driving highway speeds, the lower control arms fractured on the front driver's side. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who replaced the parts. The contact was uncertain of when the recall repairs would be completed for NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v389000 (latches/locks/linkages), 09v130000 (exterior lighting), and 16v387000 (suspension). The contact received notification after experiencing the failures. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. While driving 25 mph, the lower control arm on the front passenger side failed. The contact heard an abnormal noise and the steering wheel could not be steered. The contact also noticed that the esc warning light illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed to a dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed that the lower control arm needed to be replaced. The repairs were not performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.
I was driving the vehicle at approximately 35 mph. All of a sudden I heard a loud thud. The wheel jerked violently to the left and my vehicle began careening left toward the side of the road. I immediately began braking. I was able to stop the vehicle and exit safely. Upon inspection of the vehicle, I noticed that the front wheels were pointing in slightly different directions, and the front left wheel was moved significantly back in its well toward the rear of the vehicle. Upon inspection of the suspension components, it was immediately clear that the front left lower control arm broke while the vehicle was in motion. There has been a recall (campaign number 13v550000) on the lca for this vehicle, located in michigan, and the recall was performed by a dealership. This failure was after the recall had already been performed. Apparently this lca didn't meet the criteria for replacement, and was "rustproofed" instead. The rustproofing did not prevent this lca from failure. The vehicle has less than 104,000 miles. Had I been traveling faster, or had there been an oncoming car, the outcome could have been significantly worse or even fatal. I did receive a mild injury to my right wrist when the wheel jerked violently. The tendon is hyper-extended and requires that I wear a wrist brace.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph the vehicle's lower control arm fractured which resulted in the front-driver tire being sliced and the vehicle losing control. The vehicle was towed to the contacts relative residence. Prior to the failure the vehicle was remedied under recall 13v550000(suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was not provided. Kh.
Kia issued a recall in 2013 for rusting control arms causing them to brake. Nov 1, 2014 at 109000 miles kia did not replace my control arms but only coated them. On Nov 5, 2015 the left control arm broke from rusting thru. When the control arm broke it caused the axel to brake and the strut to bend as my wheels were going in two directions. I had no control in steering and was left sitting in the middle of a busy road coming from the turnpike. I was only going about 30 mph but three minutes from entering the PA turnpike where my speed would have been 55 ¿ 65 mph. Had I reached those speeds I would have been severely injured or killed. Kia has not adequately taken care of the know problems that the control arm is rusting. They did not do their job in protecting me driving this vehicle. Kia response was that they did the recall and take it up with the dealer that did the work. The dealer said they would fix the problem but at my expense. If my control broke how soon will other control arms brake which might cause injury or death. Kia needs to relook at this problem and replace the control arms before someone dies.
Kia had a recall on the front lower control arms for rotting out, I'm having the same issue in the rear lower control arm, it too being rotted out.

Lower control arm has been broken and it seems to results from corrosion. My understanding is that it used to be a recalled item back in 2013. When visiting a local dealership for recalled part in Nov 2014, we were told that the part was fine so they just did anti-corrosion treatment. It's been less than a year since the last visit and control arm is broken in a half. I wonder if the maker got this recall campaign done properly.
Driver side lower control arm broke due to corrosion. Vehicle had inspection via recall 13v550000 in 03/2014. Sprayed with compound. Obviously it should have been replaced, only one winter season and now failure of component. Rh lower control arm requires replacement as well due to corrosion, per dealer. Recall 13v550000 is not effective. I can provide pictures of the broken lower control arm upon request.
I was driving with my 3 young children in my 2006 kia Sedona when another driver pulled out in front of me causing me to apply the brakes, at which time I lost control of the van which nearly rolled over. I later learned that when the brakes were applied, the driver's side lower control arm completely broke due to rust which is what caused me to lose control. Thankfully, the van came to a stop but only because the wheel broke and became lodged. Had this accident happened on the freeway, there would have been serious injuries or fatalities. Corrosion on the front lower control arm was part of a recall issued in November 2013. On February 20, 2014 (before I owned the van), the van was taken to a kia service center for service related to the recall. A rustproof coating was applied to the rear control arms and the front were visually inspected and determined to be fine. Just over a year later the part determined to be "safe," broke from simply applying the brakes which very easily could have resulted in devastating consequences. I contacted kia on may 22, 2015. As of June 3, 2015 (13 days since the incident) I am still awaiting a response from kia as to what corrective action they will take. I fear for the safety of my family to ever drive this vehicle again.
