general problems of the 2009 Kia Motor Sedona

Tl the contact owns a 2009 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving and coming to a stop, he heard an abnormal sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle and inspected under the hood of the vehicle but found no issue with the vehicle. The contact then drove to a nearby parking lot and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the lower control arm needed to be replaced due to severe rusting. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 161,000.

When going through a puddle of some depth maybe 6 inches(not sure exactly), the power steering will stop and a couple of lights come on, on the dashboard. Then about 15 seconds later all goes back to normal. Always seems to happen when turning left or right.

After I checked with kia dealer, I learned that there were 4 recalls since April of 2013 on my kia Sedona; they are (1) stop light switch, (2) lower control arm, (3) rear control arm, and (4) heater pipe replacement. I never received recall notices on this vehicle. However, I received recall notice on my other kia my2009 sportage vehicle, whose recall repair was taken care of immediately after receiving the notice. Kia needs to do a better job for sending out the recall notices.
