general problems of the 2015 Kia Motor Sedona

Complete engine failure, knocking like crazy, fuel smell in the oil, the shop said the fuel in the oil broke it down and allowed the motor to fail. We were driving down the highway when it happened with family and kids which was not safe at all. No warning message at all, no check engine light, the shop has inspected and said it’s failed. The kia dealership has said many of the kia’s have been recalled for engine failure but not ours? but others with the same motor have been.

Car engine overheated without any warning indicating that it was overheating. It just started smoking. Car is available for inspection upon request. Our safety was put at risk because in 95-degree weather, warm air was coming from ac when car sat idle. The root of the problem has not been confirmed by the dealer. Vehicle pictures were sent to insurance. No warning appeared before failure.

I have a 2015 season kia. I have a security problem. The passenger seat does not see a person, the sensor is faulty.

The headlights blink on and off and keep going out and have to be changed often.

The brake lights went out. The bulbs were replaced. The fuse was replace and there still no lights. The top led brake light works, but lower lights on each side are out. I don't know if the brake switch is the problem when the upper led works. I have researched the issue and discovered that this is a xommon kia issue with many models. When a google search is conducted for "kia no brake lights it comes up with other people that have the same issue with multiple models. ".

The car odometer was about 120,000 highway miles. After run with the cruise control for about a 386 miles I stop the car in angola service station and been there for about 12 minutes with the car off the car got on fire. The electric system shut down immediately and the hood didn't open at all, rear doors didn't open electrical way just manually and the back door get completely sealed.

July 2021 family of 6 driving on vacation. 3 hours from home car started losing power. Dash lights were coming on and no lights were on at anytime before this. Vehicle had 68,000 miles at the time. Lost power would not accelerate for several minutes and car started smoking under the hood. Coolant was spraying everywhere. Family stuck on side of highway in middle of pennsylvania and no exit for 15 miles. Had to walk to an unknown home to ask them to fill several bottles of water. Put water in the car. It would run about 5 minutes and overheat again. Finally got to a rest stop. Took to o'reilly auto parts where we had new thermostat, coolant and fluid and other minor parts installed spending about $700. Drove 15 minutes car broke down again overheating. Trucker mechanic stopped to help but no luck. This was on a Sunday where everything was closed. We could not get a ride or a rental. Continued driving about 3 minutes at a time and constantly adding fluids made it to a hotel. Had to store the van for the week at the hotel. They agreed to keep it while we rented a van and went to virginia beach. Van had to be towed home. Took to a garage near home where the mechanic said the heads needed replaced. Replaced head gaskets, head bolts. New thermostat, spark plugs, heli coil, coolant,oil and labor. They gave us a discounted rate of $2087. 00. Drove home worked for few days and needed towed. Broke down again overheating on a main 3 lane busy road near home. This time repair shop said it would need a while new engine. While we paid $700 in parts on way to vacation. Had $1200 in car rental fees. $2100 in head gaskets shop repair fees. $600 in towing fees. And they were wanting $6000 for a new engine. I sat the van in my driveway for months paying the payments and eventually had to voluntarily repo at 70k miles. Car had 1 owner before us and car was regularly serviced. We had free service and oil for the first year we owned. Now being sued for the balance. Help!!!.

When pushing the turn signal down while the vehicle is in motion to go left, it either doesn’t blink or switches to the right blinker. This nearly caused an accident the other day when a car nearly hit the back of my van with my 6 kids in it, because the left blinker wouldn’t come on and then switched to blinking right. There are numerous other reports on here of similar incidents and unfortunately it looks like nothing will be done until it causes a fatality. My car is at the dealership now and I will forward the invoice if they fix it. You can go to the kia forum and find 34 different posts on the same issue.

The sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle appear faulty. They routinely do not function with the button and I am required to manually close them. They also do not automatically stop and have nearly closed on my arm before. They are very glitchy. The drivers sliding door does not properly close all of the way approximately 10-15% of the time.

Very often when I pull down on left turn signal the right side blinks instead. Signaled left last week started to turn left and a car almost hit me passing on my left. I try to be alert to the problem but sometimes I forget. I have seen many other kia Sedona owners complaining about this problem and near miss accidents.

My 2015 kia Sedona sx-l has developed a random issue when the left turn signal function is actuated (and not the right). Symptoms include the left signal not operating at all, or when the left signal is depressed but the right signal blinks rapidly three times instead before blinking the left signal once. Over the past couple of months our left turn signal began acting up. You would turn it on, and it would either show nothing, or show the right turn signal on. You would have to turn it off and on several times to get it to work correctly. We have taken it in for repairs and was told it needed a new switch. We have owned several vehicles over the past 35 years and none of them had this issue, and many were driven nearly 200,000 miles or more. This all occurred while normal operation/driving of the vehicle.

Front passenger seat occupant light does not go out now with adult on seat. Followed steps in owners manual, didnt reset so no front pass, airbag.

Left turn signal intermittently activates the right side lights when pressed. Other times it does not activate the light at all. In either case, the signal arm must be giggled back and forth to get it to activate correctly.

Blinker malfunction. When blinker switch to left turn indicator, it will intermittently flash to the right while vehicle is in motion and stopped. This has numerously times caused people around me to move in wrong direction. It is commonly reported online. Please force recall.

Takata recall: our 2015 kia Sedona's when in motion or stationary, the turn signal component does not signal the direction we have selected. When I choose left turn it signals right turn. I have to play with the turn signal lever about 10 times before it may or may not signal the proper direction. This is extremely dangerous as the cars around us think we are planning to go right instead of left each intersection. Please issue a recal on these turn signal components for 2015 kia Sedona minivans.

When I use my blinkers, quite often the head lights will go on and off while driving.

On multiple occasions my headlights will turn on or off when using turn signals or just hitting a bump. This is extremely dangerous as I live in a rural area with no street lights. This issue has been going on for several months now and is becoming more frequent. My 2015 Sedona only has 90k miles and I would not expect to have an issue like this at this time.

Takata recall sliding doors do not properly close all the time and can pop open while driving. So I have to get out and close the door by hand. This has happend on different occasions since November of 2016. The kia dealership I went to said they fixed the problem but still had issues after that.

Passenger side sliding door grinds when attempting electronic closure. Sometimes it doesnt close completely. On this occasion, door was completely closed, no door light on, and while driving on the highway the door electronically opened while at speed. Our 2 year old child was in his car seat on that side providing a life-threatening situation with the open door. Took it to the dealership and they said the motor needed to be replaced, but even if the motor was faulty, under no conditions should the door open while at speed. The manual specifically states that the door will not open when operating over 5mph, and yet, it did.

Headlights go off for . 5 to 5 seconds when I turn on the blinkers on while driving at night causing total darkness. I do not know if the tail/brake lights are affected.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and the air bags were disabled from a sensor located under the front passenger seat. Kia of south austin (5306 s ih 35 frontage rd, austin, TX 78745, (512) 444-6635) quoted that the repair would cost over $1,000 and the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer agreed to split the repair cost. The manufacturer paid for the parts and the contact paid for the labor. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 19v109000 (electrical system) that offered reimbursement for previous repairs. The dealer stated that the part was fine and no repairs were needed. The contact submitted a request for reimbursement, but was denied six weeks later. The failure mileage was 71,718.

About 2 years ago I took my vehicle to the service department to get the a/c heater control unit replaced under factory warning, this was at 70,000 miles, then at about 130,000 I had to get it replaced again, only this time it was not under a factory warranty the replacement part costs from $1200 to $1500. I ended up replacing it myself and as I began to replace the unit I noticed something disturbing. The a/c power button had melted and burnt, the connectors were never replaced the first time kia repaired the a/c control unit under warranty. I then knew what the plastic burning smell was when might a/c was turned on. I asked the kia service technician why does this keep happening he told me it was because I used the car for uber and the system was not designed to be ran as much as I drive the car, the pictures are attached. In April of this year at about 201,232 miles my front blower motor stopped working as I went to get it replaced, I noticed the same issued with the connector. The plastic connector burnt out and shorted the blower motor, and just when I thought that was a coincident, I unplugged the blower motor resistor to check it and found that connector there too had been melting and burning. I am informing you, of this problem because it keeps happening it seems about every 70k to 80k miles on the a/c control unit because I am about to put a 4th a/c control in my vehicle, I am fearful of fire hazard/potential this may cause. This is getting expensive to continue to have to replace/repair parts because the can't withstand heat. The first four pictures are from the a/c control unit the last picture is from the blower motor.

Both sliding doors make noises when closing and do not close all of the way. Noise is coming from back of car inside panel. Sounds like a motor vibration and rubbing noise. The door will stay open about a 1/4-1/2" when looking at it from the rear. Door light on dash is on, interior door light will remain on and air/noise comes in through the door. This started with 60k miles on my car. Dealer says it will cost me $2200.

The uvo system intermittently malfunctions. When it does, the phone ringer volume is extremely loud. As a result , an incoming phone call startles and temporarily distracts the driver. After repeated attempts to reset the volume to a very low level, it continues to happen. As it happens randomly, the dealer has not been able to reproduce it. As a result, they have refused to reprogram the system. However, there is a service action/TSB 222 which addresses this, but "if they can not reproduce the symptom, they will not reprogram the system. " I have been told this same story at the dealership and from the corporate headquarters. It has happened multiple time since I have owned the vehicle. There are not any upgrades available for the consumer to upload, nor is it possible without specialized equipment. Thank you.

Power sliding doors do not close all the way makes a grinding noise when it is closing the door does not latch when the door is suppose to be closed which in return does not allow the doors to lock.

The engine stopped after driving through a small bump at the park lot (low speed), accompanied by steering wheel locking by itself. Tried to restart the car and it didn't work. Jump start was also unsuccessful. The car was towed to the nearby dealership. After days of waiting, I was told problem can not be diagnosed but they offer to replace the computer. Now I am waiting for their new result.

Had turned on the air in the seat and smelled a plastic burning smell when I parked my car and went in my house to get my swimsuit and towel and returned outside smoke was rolling out of the car. The car was on fire at the drivers side seat.
