Only 260 miles on vehicle and check engine light came on. Dealer stated check gas cap. Stated it needs to "click" 3 times to tighten and seal. Have performed task repeatedly with no change. While standing outside of vehicle, with vehicle running, can hear air sucking in through gas fill area. Never had that happen on any other vehicle owned. Noticed flapper valve at top of gas fill area is creased and does not seal like other manufacturers vehicles. Worried that this air problem will cause future engine problems.

Dangerous design of fuel tank filling system. Fuel tank filler rubber hose attaches to lower lobe of fuel tank. Hose will contain fuel until tank is nearly empty. Hose is routed below unibody frame rail and is highly susceptible to impact damage from road debris. If hose were to become damaged/dislodged, entire contents of fuel tank could spill. If this happened while vehicle is in forward motion, the fuel could spray onto (large) hot muffler positioned transversley, immediately aft of fuel tank. I feel this design presents an extreme fire/explosion hazard that could be fatal to vehicle occupants. I have never seen such a poorly designed fuel system!.
