On June 5, 2020 and June 14, 2020, respectively, two yokohama yk580 225/70r16 tires installed on my vehicle experienced violent tread separation. The tires were approximately 4 years old with less than 30,000 miles on them (the warranty is for 60,000 miles). One event occurred while driving at 70 mph. Both tread separation events caused damage to the vehicle, the repair of which was estimated at $3,195. More importantly, the events put the safety of my family at risk. Yokohama refused to assume responsibility due to the tires being unavailable for forensic examination. This was in spite of my providing photographs of both events clearly showing tread separation had occurred. I guess yokohama expected me to carry two damaged tires back from the vacation (and leave my family behind to not overload the vehicle?).

Replaced x 4 with identical size make and model. 1/21/2020 experienced non repairable tire failure due to belt separation/ rupture on tread surface. Approx 40k miles on affected tire with usable tread left. Trying to fill out this form to encompass a history of 5 tire failures for belt separation over an 18 month period for a line of tires produced over three years is confusing, thanks.

On Feb. 25, 2018, we purchased a 2003 kia Sedona van from city start auto sales in paradise, CA. All four tires and the spare were goodyear integrity 215/70r15. The tires read max. Psi 44, but the van said to run at 35 psi. So, once a week on a cool morning (between 68-75 degrees outside without it have been driven), my wife or I would make sure the tires were 34-35 psi. During this 3 month period, we noticed nothing wrong with the tires. On may 31, 2018, I was driving from my house in magalia, CA to chico, CA. Just as I started to merge onto hwy 99 in chico, I heard a thumping sound, then a bang--twice. I immediately pulled over and saw 2 tires had completely blown out and one was seriously showing the metal belt. I had to pay to get a tow truck out and immediately purchase 4 new tires. We've had a little work done on the rear-left fender continued to have weird sounds coming from the left rear where the worst blow out happened. I just haven't had time to take it in yet. I know it was hotter in chico than at my home, but it was probably in the upper 80's at that time. I had no warning and if it happened when I was on the freeway, it would've been a disaster. The tire company showed us the spare, said we could use it as one for a short time, but even it is showing something wrong to the tire guy.

I currently have a 2006 kia Sedona that has michelin tires on it. I purchased the tires on September 9, 2011. I had 76540 miles on the van at that time. Today I have 100,955 miles on the van, that is a little over 24000 miles on these tires. I was having the vehicle inspected prior to a vacation with my daughter. I was told that all 4 tires have terrible dry-rot. This is very concerning and dangerous and I am alerting you to this problem. These tires should have many more years of life in them and do not have very many miles on them. I would appreciate michelin replacing these tires . . These tires have a 70,000 mile warranty on them however they are now 6 years old, and just past the michelin warranty date. I was told by ntb manager that michelin have a tendency to dry-rot/ crack and he even had this happen to ones on his car. This is a safety hazard. New tires will cost over $800 on this vehicle. Although I would agree to pick up some of that cost since I have used the vehicle, however there should be at least 70% left on the life of these tires. I am concerned about driving on them as is because there is a good chance of a blow out and since it is happening on all 4 tires that could be disastrous. I hope that michelin agrees that there is a problem with these tires and that they stand by their belief in providing a good product, free from defects. Thanks.

Dear officer, I have purchased 2 sets of four tires (assurance tripletred, 215/70r15) in summer 2010 and 2011 (Hyundai xg and kia Sedona). I found that only one of tires shows a kind of cracks a lot on the side (I have the picture) relatively. I checked the date of manufacturing on the tire and found 'blank'. Three of four show the year and week (0923. . . ). I also found that one of four tires in my another car has no date either. It's odd and suspicious to me. I have got them all from a goodyear store. I have some pictures to show the evidence. I am so scared when I realized that I have driven my cars on illegally updated or sold tires. Thanks, yisug kwon p. S. I already contacted goodyear and got feedback from my contact person at goodyear, saying that it's odd but can be happened.

In June and July of 2011 I purchased 4 yokohama 215/70r15 98s avid touring s tires for my 2005 kia Sedona van. Within the last 6 months I have had to replace 3 tires due to separation. Driving is both highway and city with at least 80 miles highway 5 days ever other week. Since purchasing the tires I have driven 46,000 miles. The first separation occurred August 1, 2012 with millage at 157,000. The second on November 21, 2012 at 164,000 miles. The third separation occurred February 1, 2013 at 176,000 miles. The symptons indicating a problem with the tires are; a. Wobbling of the vehicle at very low speed, b. Pulling to the right or left, c. Intense vibration at highway speed (>55). We are lucky there have been no accidents relating to these defective tires. The first two tires were replaced under the tire dealers warranty program. I lost confidence in the manufacturer and model after the third separation and with credit from yokohama purchased four new tires; different make and model. All the tires were retained by the dealer. The last tire had a manfacture date of 81s0610.
Kumho 798 tire tread separation. Driving at interstate speed, vibration started and got progressively worse. Had to change to spare which after 30 minutes was doing the same thing (same brand and model tire). Purchased new tires of different manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 65mph he started to hear a thumping noise. He took the vehicle to a tire dealer and they found that the rear left tire tread had split and the steel belts were twisted. Diagnostics were done on the tires, only one out of the four tires was not defective. The vehicle was equipped with kona, model kh16 tires 22570c16. The contact replaced all four tires at his expense. The manufacturer was contacted and they stated there was nothing they could do. The failure mileage on the tires was 19,083, as well as the vehicle. The VIN was unavailable. Updated 10/27/10.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Sedona. The contact stated upon entering the vehicle he noticed the tpms warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. Upon further inspection he noticed that he passenger side tires had a low psi of 20, when they should be 35. A technician advised him that because the tires are not sticking very closely to the rim, it¿s causing air to release; he then added that there is not an available remedy for the failure. As a consequence his risk for vehicle crash was increased, if the tires fail while driving. The failure mileage was 30,000. The current mileage was 31,281.

I got my 2005 kia Sedona in 5/2006 used. Since that time, I have had to have the brakes replaced (pads and rotors) at least 6 times, have had to have 4 sets of tires and have had to have the air conditioning replaced. The compressor in the a/c went completely out in 2009. This is all in addition replacing spark plugs, fans, etc etc. I have spent a huge amount of money on this van and it still shakes, pulls etc and the brakes are about to have to be replaced again.
2nd complaint for the 2005 kia Sedona - rear tire wear. Every set of tires I put on the vehicle need to be replaced in the back after 6 months due to extreme inside wear. Took the vehicle to a private repair shop and they stated there was no way to adjust and suggested taking to a dealer. I took it to a dealer and got the same response - plus no aftermarket part to put on it either. Of course it took me 3 months to get a response out of the dealer on the aftermarket question. Now, every 10,000-15,000 miles I replace the front tires with new, and put the old ones on the back. I even took the tires to the dealer for show and tell. . . . They had no answer for the problem.
Bad misfire. This misfire started at 14,000 miles. I took it into the dealer to have it look at they cold not get it to misfire. As time went on at 20,000 the misfire became worse, we left the van for pm service with the first dealer for one week,we wear on vacation. They called and said that the van was ready, that was on a Friday,I went to pick up the van from the dealer. When I started it and put it in drive it started to miss. I had the service writer come over and I had him fell the miss and you could hear it in the motor compartment, the service writer had the mec look at the van,the mec said and the service writer said the it was the no 2 coil and that kia had a problem with that motor misfiring,I left the van and pick it up on Saturday. They replaced no 2 coil and one plug, they said they did ? the next day,Sunday we went to west palm beach for a craft show, the van sat for 5hr, coming home it misfire. When it misfires at highway speeds the cruise will go off,the trans shifts hard out of over drive then back into over drive, we have come close to getting hit on 95 when this happens. The misfire became worse,we took it to a 2 dealer out in coral springs, the van now has 53,000. They had it for 8 days, reset the ecm,and put new plugs in it. Got it back, still misfiring. The front brakes wore out st 21,000. Replace the brake pads, turn rotors, they last only 27,000. Very bad on brakes. First set of tires 24,000. Replace them with goodyear 70,000. Be lucky to get 40,000. Very bad on tires. Front end to heavy, eats brakes and tires. Had right front cv axle replace do to bearing&seal defect. Right rear bearing hub replace do to defect. We don't fell safe in this van!.

The contact owns a 2004 kia Sedona. While driving 60 mph, the contact heard a loud thumping sound. After she inspected the vehicle, she noticed the wheel and tire detached. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however; they were unable to diagnose the failure. As of March 25, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The current mileage was 83,000 and failure mileage was 82,000.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Sedona. The vehicle has kumho, size p195/55r15 tires. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the front passenger side tire was flat. The tire was removed to reveal that the inside side wall was cracked. No nails or holes were found in the tire. The inner ring of the tire appeared as if it would pop. The contact replaced the tire with a full size tire and drove to the dealer with the tire. The dealer stated that the tire had been driven on while it was underinflated; however, the contact disagreed. The tire has yet to be replaced. The weather was cool and dry at the time of the failure. No pictures were taken and no invoice was issued. The dot number and other tire information was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 20,000.
The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. The tires are bigo euro tour tires, size p212/70r15. While driving 60mph, the vehicle jerked. It appeared to be a flat tire; however, the tire fell off of the vehicle and rolled down the interstate. The contact was able to control the vehicle and it was towed to the dealer. They were unable to diagnose the failure. The current mileage was 48946 and the failure mileage was 48765.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The vehicle has hankook optimo h 14 tires 225/70r16. The contact stated that his vehicle began to vibrate after driving it off the lot. He returned to the dealer and they performed a road forced balance. The failure recurred and the the dealer discarded two rims and a tire from the vehicle. The vibration recurred a third time and the dealer stated that the vibration could not be repaired. The current mileage is 6,351 and failure mileage was 19.
The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona equipped with bridgestone firestone fr380 tires, tire size p215/70/r15. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph, and the front end of the vehicle and steering wheel began to shake. The vehicle was taken to a tire center where the front driver side tire and both rear tires were replaced. The technician stated that the tire tread exhibited premature wear. The similar failure recurred one year and nine months after the replacement of the three tires. The contact planned to notify the tire center for the vehicle to be inspected and to determine which tire was defective. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000. The dot number was unknown.
The rear of the vehicle began to produce a humming noise and it gradually got louder until the passenger side rear brake assembly and tire came out of the 2004 kia Sedona.
A regular maintenance at the dealership caused a defect in my vehicle's brakes, a tire rotation defect and a steering problem(vehicle keeps on pulling to the right and brake pedal too soft and almost touches the floor when used-brake ineffective). The dealer did not show any signs of concern about the safety of the vehicle despite several attempts to address the issue. No choice but to contact company's headquarters.
Have a 2005 kia Sedona and the van has 22,000 and has been in the repair shop for brake problems over 6 times. Since 8/05 has been back in for service for oil leaks, remote problems, tire problems. The rotors have been changed, the pads, everything has been done but after a little time passes the noise and the pulsating comes back. The van starts to pull when you go to put on the breaks and it makes noises. Keep bring it back to the dealership and they fix it with new brakes, rotors, pads but the problem keeps coming back and back. Should not have had to replace the brakes and pads, and rotors so many times with very little mileage on it. Updated 12/12/07.
I have had numerous problems with my kia Sedona. Within a few months of ownership the head gasket blew and it was towed in and replaced. Then the windshield broke during the night in the garage with no weather extremes. I replaced that. In 2 years I've had 2 blowouts to the front driver's tire. The only 2 in my whole 30+ years of driving. Dealer says its not the car. The front wheel bearings were replaced. In Dec 2004 the engine was replaced, the lumbar support was broken and fixed, the driver's doorhandle broke and was fixed by kia. Jan18 it was back in because the hood release was not working. It was fixed and we picked up the vehicle 1/19. On 1/21 the gas pedal stuck, I brought it in and they fixed it immediately. " the cover had fallen down and they tied it back up. " obviously not a good job because it stuck again on the way home at 65mph. I was finally able to stop the car and had it towed back in. I think it is a death trap!.
I've had a number of problems with my 2003 kia Sedona. Initially one of the gaskets leaked and had to n be replaced. The windshield cracked overnight in the garage when there was no weather extremes. The wheel bearings went in the front tire. Recently the engine had to be replaced because it was leaking and after replacing all the gaskets it couldn't get pressure. The driver's door handle broke, the lumbar support stopped working. The hood wouldn't close properly. And on top of all those things I've had 2 blowouts to the front driver's tire in a 2 year period. The dealer says there is nothing wrong with the wheel but I'm not sure he even checked because of the engine problems he had to deal with.
Consumer stated he experienced premature tire wear. He stated he was only getting 18,000 miles from a set of tires. He stated his first set of tires were the original ones and they wore out at about 18,000. Now he has sigma 15 rims and now they are wearing out at about the same amount of mileage.
My tire ripped off the rim when we driving about 60 mph like the ones did for firestone and it did damage to my van the company did not want to fix anything well we lucky no one got hurt. So I took it to the dealer and they said they never seen this happen I think you should look at these tires.
2002 kia Sedona at 19,604 miles took it to the dealership for the floorboard buckles on the driver side when the steering wheel is turned to a full rotation, no problem found at that time , they said they could feel nothing. At 25,000 miles returned to the dealership with the same problem, test drove they could feel the floorboard buckle and was told it is normal. Now at 41,000 miles I have the same problem but the insides of the front tires wore down to the cords and I had to have the tires replaced.
