The vehicle has had several electronic issues. One owner with a garage parked low mileage SUV. The driver seat will not move forward. All other adjustments work fine. This issue has happened several times over the years but now seems to be a permanent problem. The interior overhead light does not illuminate when you open the doors, the driver side door open alarm dings for no apparent reason and the brake lights continually burn out.
Headlight bulbs have gone out at least once a month since I have purchased vehicle used. Have to keep spare bulbs in vehicle in case it happened again at night which I would not be able to drive with my normal headlights ig I had not carried the spare ones in Sorento. Brake lights have gone out 3 times since I have purchased Sorento in March 2012. Lighting interior does not work unless you manually push the button from the top of ceiling. Door ajar" light came on and started beeping all doors were tightly shut. Was told that the seat belt harness metal part may have caused the drivers door to bend or knock off the diode button.
From the time I got the car head lights have repeatedly burned out after a month or two, also dash lights go off randomly and flicker and then come back on when ever they decide,my power steering went out, brake light came on and a/c went out all at once. Started to overheat, so it was determined the serpentinre belt had broke, replaced belt and vibration under hood was noticeable but could not determine the source. , but somewhere under the hood. Still replacing headlights every couple months, then power steering fluid started to be consumed and constantlyt required adding fluid, then had a mechanic check for leak and he replaced some hoses and clamps but vibratiion continued and eventually power steering began loud noise when car started and only when reved up would noise stop, and when a/c was on sometimes would effect the power steering noise. Replaced the powersteering pump, still the noise continued and recently the belt came off while I was driving and brake light came on , I was able to get safely off the road and didnt cause an acciedent, but very close call, belt had come off but after minor adjustment it was put back on, vibration noise has become worse, I am affraid to drive it, mechanic looked at it and said harmonic balance seems to be off and root of problem is crank shaft bolt most likely , common problem , however during the time in kia dealership for other recall issues , crank bolt was never brought to my attention as being a problem in my year or model car, non it turns out it is a major problem and legal action has been taken by class action suit dealing with same issue.
I own a 2005 and a 2006 kia Sorento ex. In both vehicles I must replace lightbulbs continually. On average, I replace headlights approximately once every 60 to 90 days. Brake light bulb replacement is less frequent, but does occur often within the year. There is obviously a problem with the electrical system in these vehicles but kia will not acknowledge any problems.
This is my second complaint on this issue. I currently have no working headlights on my 2005 kia Sorento, again. The light bulbs go out every three to six months. The right rear brake light just went out as well. I keep having to drive with my high beams on because I keep losing one or both of my headlights. This will be the 5th time I replace the bulbs in a year's time. Kia tells me there is no problem and that they will charge me $48 per bulb to change them and guarantee them for a 12 month period. I see alot of similar complaints online for this same issue.
Basically, I am constantly having to change lights. (I. E. Brake lights, interior dome lights, headlights).
Lighting problem in my 2005 kia Sorento lx. In 2006, my dome light stopped working in the "door" position (I didn't get it fixed). Since 2006, I have replaced my kia's left headlight 3 times and the right headlight 2 times. I now have my right headlight out again and the rear left brake light as well. Since this has happened too many times to be normal, I called kia. The kia dealership says it requires "kia lightbulbs" at $50/each as well as a $75 diagnostic fee to check the electrical system. Kia claims there is a problem with after manufacture light bulbs and that only "kia lightbulbs" will work. Checking the internet, I found numerous similar complaints from 2005 Sorento owners. This needs to be recalled. I lucked out that only one headlight went out at a time, otherwise, I would have had no headlights. Not to mention the cost in replacement lightbulbs.
I purchase my 2005 kia sorrento lx new from taylor kia in toledo ohio. Also purchased extra warranty for bumper to bumper. A couple months after I had purchase vehicle my headlight started going out I would take it back get it fixed come back home and another one would be out take it back come back to weeks later another headlight would be out. Then the headlights &taillights would go out and brake lights would go out this went on with every single light on my vehicle. Continue to call taylor kia to have the service then about the sixth time one of my lights went out they told me they would not service my vehicle anymore even though it was completely covered everything on my vehicle from bumper-to-bumper. They also red flag to me on their computer so that I could not have my vehicle service because of this problem with my kia sorrento. At one point I even had the service manager tell me that his service guys were upset with me because I did not give them a good rating when my car was not fixed to jd powers. I got kia corporate involved which did absolutely no good because they said that they would someone someone from California to fix my vehicle and ended up not sending anyone sent a wire harness instead. Of course that's did not fix the problem but they would not do anything else to try to find out why all my lights on my vehicles was going out at one time or another. They also told me that my kia was the only one that ever had this problem and they had never heard of this problem before but I could clearly drive down the street see other kia sorrento's with headlights out. Then I got online and read about how many kia had the same problem but kia corporate would not do a thing about it and taylor kia would not do anything at that point. Now my car is broke down with the cam sensor and also crank sensor and bolt because of an issue with these kia sorrento's.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Sorento. The contact noticed that the driver's side rear brake lights were not illuminating. The dealer replaced the light bulb , and, approximately three or four months later, the bulb was replaced again. The light bulb stopped working again three months later. The dealer replaced the bulb once more, but was unable to diagnose the failure. Also, the driver's side headlight stopped working. The dealer replaced the light bulb for the fourth time. Since the last remedy, there have been no other failures. The current and failure mileage were 47,000.
First the headlights on driver side went out. We took the 2005 kia Sorento lx to the dealer to have the headlight replaced at which time they admitted there was a defect problem with the headlights going out frequently. They said bring it in and they would fix the problem. The next time the passenger light went out and the dealer said there was no problem and would not fix it. Since then the drivers side light has gone out three more times and the passengers side has gone out twice. Each rear brake light has gone out twice. Recently we have experienced the interior dome light intermittently malfunctioning along with both headlights and a smell of smoke near the dome light. We have been pulled over twice by police due to inoperable headlights and taillights. The dealer takes no responsibility for this obvious electrical defect which is clearly a safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Sorento. The contact stated that she had to replace her front headlamp light bulbs approximately eleven times and the brake light bulbs twice. There were no recalls available on this year, make, and model vehicle. The current mileage was 67,869 and failure mileage was 50,000.
I have a 2005 Sorento. I have replaced the headlights 15 times. They have both gone out before when driving at night and I had to drive nearly 40 miles with brights only. I have also replaced brake lights 5 times. It started in oct the year I bought the car and has continued. I am stunned at the number of complaints about this and lack of response from kia. Anybody filing a class action? I'm sure there would be plenty of takers!!.
