Body problems of the 2013 Kia Motor Sorento - part 2

Kia Sorento pearl white paint peeling off the car leading to rust and corrosion. Started around may of 2021 at about 120000 miles has continued to progress around the vehicle.

Paint delimitation rapidly along top of windshield allowing rust. Safety concern with water damage. No reports to dealer.

I was sitting in my car before work as I always do. It was running but it was parked. All of a sudden I hear a huge bang that sounds like a shotgun blast. I jump and duck thinking someone is shooting a gun at my car. I then see little shards of glass all over my windshield. I exit my vehicle and see that my sunroof is completely shattered. In the pictures it’s clear it wasn’t from a point of impact (nothing hit my car). Luckily my shield was pulled so no glass got on me and I wasn’t driving. This could have caused me to crash with how loud the boom was. I see online that there’s been several instances of this happening with no recall.

Peeling paint, entirely down to base on hood and next to windshield both sides.

Purchased the car in 2020 paint above windshield was beginning to peel, within months the a-pillars were peeling off, the hood is peeling off and now the section above the windshield is beginning to rust due to the peeling. The paint on the hood, and top of the vehicle is chipping and peeling in 1-2" spots. No one was put at risk no one has inspected. No warnings or lights- first appeared 18 months ago.

Paint started pealing in 2020 and progressed to many other areas including hatchback and roof.

My child who is currently 13, has managed to pull the rear passenger handle off the vehicle twice in the 6 years we have owned it requiring replacement both times as the piece holding the handle in is plastic and has shattered. The first time he was only 7. It is unacceptable for a door handle to be able to be destroyed by a child multiple times. Also, the handle which allows the second row seat to fold forward for passengers to gain access to the third row does not work. We have asked for this to be fixed at the dealership multiple times but they have been unable to get it to work properly either. Obviously both of these problems occur when the vehicle is stationary.

The back door on passenger side handle fell off, taking to kia tomorrow but getting sense there claiming no issue.

Color pearl white. Abnormal peeling of paint despite not having any damage to initiate. Along the front and all edges where the doors curve to meet the windows. When there is damage from a rock from the road whole sheets will lift and peel off. This was a defective paint job and should be remedied by kia.

Approximately one year ago I paid dealer to replace defective driver side rear door handle. Today passenger side rear door handle broke off in hand while opening door (same as previous). Now unable to open rear door from outside of car.

Takata recall on back locks. Lock jammed on back door. Door will not unlock from inside or out. . Having problems with kia dealership honoring a recall that I thin should include my vehicle. There was a recall for front locks a couple of years ago that was repaired. Now the back locks on the back door is doing the same thing. This is a danger to my grandchildren who sits in the back of my car. The air bag light is also malfunctioning. I have asked kia check the air bag, but told my VIN number is not on the list. And that my locks are not on the recall list. These are all manufacturing problems and should be treated as such. . The vehicle is in motion most of the time when the air bag light "off" appears. . The vehicle was /is stationary when the back door lock on the driver's side will not lock or unlock, although resonds to key pad sound as though unlocked, the door remains lock. Also, when door is unlocked on the inside, door will not open. Car is stationary.

Spontaneous vehicle fire. Traveling on us-27 in florida, stopped at red light and smoke started coming out from under the hood, proceeded through the light once it turned green to get to the side of the roadway when smoke started through the vents and flames came out from under the hood as well. Car became disabled and 3 of us jumped out and ran down the road, away from the car. The entire car went up in flames in a matter of seconds from exiting.

My white snow kia Sorento paint is peeling and has really bad delamination. It’s been peeling little by little over the last 4 years. It is awful.

Paint is chipping off the hood and around the windshield in larger chunks.

My car has 2 door handles that have fallen off. One right after another. This is also something I see frequently on other kia Sorentos I pass on the road so obviously this is a common occurrence and it needs to be fixed. I did not pay for a car to have to stick my arm through and around to the other door to open it, that's ridiculous. Also, the car was in park in the drive way at my parents house, it wasn't even turned on, the keys weren't even in it.

The rear hatch is somehow releasing (not to the point where it opens) which makes the 'open door' indicator & dome lights flicker. It has happened a few times, and the first time it happened I thought that maybe I had not closed it all the way. I do not know exactly how many times it has happened, but it has happened enough times for me to be concerned that one day it will just fly open; spilling items into the roadway, and causing an accident. In the last week it has occurred twice, and it is never noticeable until after I start driving. When the vehicle is initially started the 'door open' indicator is not illuminated. It's not until the vehicle is in motion that it has come on. The light does not always come on but I can here the hatch rattling as though it is not closed all the way. It is very irritating and causes great concern because I would hate for it to cause something to happen in the event the it just completely releases.

One month after purchasing(11-29-15) used car from kia dealer, the paint started peeling on front panel above the windshield. It was repaired(12-28-15) by the dealer. It was brought to their attention when other areas started peeling shortly after but they didn’t care and didn’t say anything was wrong. Now there are four areas that are peeling on my car. It has been parked in garage since purchased. The auto body place said that it looks like it was not painted correctly.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the rear passenger door handle detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,800. Mf.

Paint is chipping off cat rapidly and it’s getting worse.

The pearl white paint associated with my 2013 kia Sorento started to peel, on several locations including the front �a� pillars, the car roof (where the roof meets the windshield) as well as the roof itself. The peeling paint has exposed the body of the car which is now starting to show signs of rust at some of these locations. The peeling paint issue is the similar, if not the same, as that seen online with owners reporting the same issue. In addition, there are many locations where the paint has not fully delaminated but is instead bubbling up, and separating, from the car's base paint coat. I approached kia with this while the car was still under warranty and was told that it was �wear and tear� and not a paint defect.

My airbags didn't deploy when I hit a person in the rear after severely damaged front end of my vehicle and parts being shoved into the motor and the motor received a crack in the block.

Swp paint peeling on hood and roof.

Driving down route 62 in alliance ohio 44601 only going about 30 35 mph it sounded like a gun shot and look back and seen the panoramic window was shatterd no signs of anything hitting it light traffic.

We were westbound on us 60 in tempe az. When the sunroof imploded scattering glass on vehicles behind us. Lucky for us the inside shade was closed preventing the glass from coming inside. The outside temp. Was 73 the a/c was set at 70 speed was 65 mph. I contacted the kia dealer who said they were unaware of any problems that kia was having with the sunroofs.

The contact owns a 2013 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the driver¿s door would strike him in the forehead whenever entering the vehicle . The contact also stated that the edges around the door were sharp. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
