general problems of the 2014 Kia Motor Sorento

Left out for work one morning as normal. Everything was ok no lights no warnings no problems. I was driving approximately 25-30 mph when my speed began to decelerate, a knocking noise, the check engine and oil light came on and my vehicle just stopped. After about 10-15 mins I could restart the car and drive to a safe parking lot off the street. When I started the car back up the knocking sound was even worse. In the parking lot, all the fluids were checked and there was not one drop of oil in the engine. I took the vehicle to the shop and was told the engine was done. It would need to be replaced. The mechanic explained that there had been a problem with the engines burning up oil in the 2011-2014 kia's. Thankfully, I was on a local road during morning travel, not the highway. I shudder to think of what may have happened if I suddenly started to decelerate at highway speeds and was hit by another vehicle.

Was driving to the store for groceries with my 2 young children, when my car just stopped accelerating and the engine seized up on a local road. Had noticed a ticking and knocking sound when accelerating a few prior and a weird sound coming from the suspension but it was dismissed by the dealer. Had the vehicle towed to my home and had to tow to dealership as it would no longer turn over at all. Received a recall notice but apparently it doesn't apply to my vehicle because I had oil, coolant and no leaks anywhere. Only had 127,000 mold and this is the 4th issue I've had with this vehicle. 1st was rats chewing all my wires, 2nd was the rear differential, 3rd fuel pump, and now this.

In may of 2021 my 2014 kia sorrento had major engine problems. I brought it to myrtle beach kia immediately and after 5 months of back and forth and paying for rental vehicles, I was told that they would not cover any repairs due to the recall! I then paid $8, 663. 63 for a repair that was never fully completed. Immediatley after receiving vehicale back, check engine light was on. Numerous call to the delearship and I was told dont worry it just needs to cyclwe through. My vehicle has never been properly services by them. I have kept up will all oil changes and maintenance in the meantime. I was told the check engine light codes were po335 & po 0018. I have had the camshaft bank sensor and crankshaft sensor replaced on 7/14 and this vehicle still has same check engine light on and is not receiving proper power while driving. I looked up recalls and found that currently recall 21 v331000 is in effect, this recall is a major safety issue especially being that I have 3 children that I drive around in and there may be a fire! I called myrtle beach kia and the earliest they can get me in to service is a month from now, on 8/11!! I feel that especially after everything I have been put through with this vehicle and the amount of money I have put out, that a loaner car would be offered to me to drive while waiting for them to fix the safety recall. Car was traveling from atlanta and the speed odometer on the car showed it was dropping then knock noise pull over then I made to exit and check oil guage the sensor lights never showed when I had picked up the person house I took to said it was crank sensor and started it heard knocking sound and I call NHTSA reported incident and was giving a claim number haven't heard anything since I no its recall on engine cause I had received paperwork that it was and also saw report on news.

Doing speed limit of 70 lost power for no reason had 3 mo left 500 minutes from home on vacation towed home thank god was able to get off the free way . Tried getting kia to fix said since it was 3 . 3 engine not 4 cylinder the couldn't fix it. Same problem metal in oil and on dip stick see now 2017 3. 3 same problem someone going to get hurt or worse now I need a lawyer. Left no car and disabled.

I dropped my daughter off school, upon leaving and heading toward the freeway, I was unable to accelerate past 20mph, had a vehicle behind me almost hit me and my child because I lost forward acceleration and was unaware and could only use my hazards to signify that something was wrong and I wouldn't be able to make it up the hill. I then turned the vehicle off when I reached a safe place to pull over. Let it sit for 5 min, as this happened last year and was informed it was the throttle body, which was replaced. Upon turning vehicle back on, all seemed well, I drove toward the freeway again amd within 3 minutes the check engine light turned on and I lost power again. Was unable to drive more than 20mph we recently dealt with this exact issue with our 2013 kia optima and it was due to a recall and they replaced the engine as it was malfunctioning.

Headlights continually need replacing. We must replace headlights every few months. We have tried several brands of lights and regardless they go out. We have had all the lights go out at once while driving at night. Cruise control no longer works. I had the clock spring replaced but this did not fix the cruise. Seat warmer driver side seat warmer no longer engages. When the button is pressed, the indicator light flashes as if it will come on but never does.

I was driving and my car started acting like it was stalling out. I pulled over and put it in park and turned off the engine. I tried to restart, didnt restart. Let it sit a minute, and tried to restart again, it did. I drove straight back home about 2 miles away and didn't drive it further. There were no indicator lights on, so we had no idea what had just happened. My husband checked the oil, everything was ok. Drove it a few days later, was driving around just fine for about 30 minutes, then the same thing happened, I heard a clanking/stalling noise coming from the engine, and it was stalling out. Thankfully, I was able to pull over to a residential street and had to get it towed to my mechanic. Again, no senor lights were on. My mechanic looked at it, and was baffled, because he said basically my engine is shot. I have always maintained my vehicle with oil changes, and tune-ups, and everything else, there were no indicator lights telling me something was wrong. I am completely upset and baffled at how my motor just stops working for no reason at all!.

Abs, traction, and tire warning lights all come on at same time, the tire warning light blinks for a minute or so. I checked for low pressure in tires and it was not the problem vehicle seems to function fine no traction issues no abs issues that I can see or feel in driving, saw the recall for the awd but mine is fwd.

The headlights don't shine on anything and it's hard to find your way at night. Speed ​​control does not work. The engine has a different rhythm at 3000 rpm.

Hello, I am writing here since I did not receive for online access. I had a conversation with another kia representative from kennedy explaining my situation with kia from aguadilla, being specific that the recall clearly indicates that in both 1 and 4 recalls, life can be at stake without the parts not being corrected in time. My engine was replaced at 118,119 and equipped with knock sensor saftey software to avoid another engine failure. At 139,505 my knock sensor software activated with. No advance warning as I was making an accelerated left turn in front of 3 lanes of traffic. I was in a stationary position with my left blinker on judging when to turn left in front of westward moving traffic. As I choose the moment to quickly accelerate and make the turn in front of traffic the knock sensor was activated, putting the car in limp home mode not allowing me to accelerate to saftey. Two cars traveling westbound had to slam on their breaks in order not to hit me. I made it to the middle lane diving traffic and then had to be towed to the kia dealership in order to get in out of knock sensor limp home mode. The saftey equipment installed to keep me safe in-fact did the opposite and put me in harms way.

Car was in drive in a parking lot, when accelerator pedal was pushed it stuck and would not release, car sped at a high rate of speed even with brake and emergency brake on. I tried taking car out of gear and it went into reverse at a high rate of speed. Finally I was able to turn car off but I am scared to drive it.

On several occasions my truck shuts down, basically the wheel locks and the truck loses power, and restarts by itself. Recently I was on the freeway and the engine light, oil light and traction control light came on and I lost speed, I stepped on the gas and truck was not moving, I was able to get to the shoulder and lost complete power. I did notice when I turned off the air conditioning the truck would start but as soon as I turned on the ac the same thing happened. I have had a lot of trouble with this truck since I bought it.

The vehicle was not repaired and was towed to jim shorkey kia (located at 12900 us-30, irwin, PA 15642, (724) 241-0176) where it was diagnosed that the bearing rod inside the engine failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 13201482. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

On four different occasions over the course of about 10 years, with foot pressing hard on brake toward bottom left side of the brake, the car accelerated. First time, I was at an atm. Foot was on the brake. I was leaning out the window getting money out of the atm and the car accelerated. A loud noise of it ramping up and then it jolted forward. I immediately sat back straight in the car keeping my foot on the brake. Within about 3 feet the car stopped. Second time was at a fast food restaurant. Leaning out to get the food, the car accelerated. Made the loud ramping up sound. Jerked forward and immediately stopped. Third time, at a pharmacy drive through, leaning out to get the medications, foot on the brake. Car accelerated. Loud ramping up noise. Lunged forward about 2 feet then stopped. Most recent time, I was getting a ticket at a parking garage gate. Leaned out to press the button to get the ticket. 100% positive my foot was on the brake. Pressed hard on the bottom left side of the brake so as to not slip. The car made the ramping up sound, then accelerated. When I heard the noise, I immediately sat straight and kept my foot on the brake the entire time. It went about 15 feet without stopping - the entire length of the gate bent and then scrapped down the side of my car. (tried hard to drive around it after it bent). I released the brake and then pressed it again and the car stopped. I was able to park it in a parking space immediately in front maybe 100 yards away. I took it to the dealer after the last incident. They were unable to replicate the issue. They insisted my foot must have pressed the accelerator or the carpet must have been pushed up under the accelerator (the car has rubber matts, there is no carpet) as a work around, I now always put it in park with the emergency brake on whenever I'm at a drive through.

My Sorento feels like it's going to stall, especially when accelerating. It's also burning oil at an alarming rate. The oil lamp flickered once while driving on the highway. There is no obvious oil leak. I took it to the dealership and they said it needs a new engine it that it isn't covered under the 17v224 recall. I'm afraid that the engine is failing and that it is kia's responsibility, but they are ignoring the problem.

Acceleration. When I accelerate it hesitates to pick up. Very dangerous as I was trying to merge into the highway or merge into a different lane it did not accelerate quickly enough and the vehicles in that lane had to brake hard as I entered that lane almost rear ending my vehicle. Even if I press the gas pedal hard it does the same thing, it hesitates before speeding up. Another issue is the door lock button from both driver and passenger sides work sometimes and doesn't work sometimes. Even when I'm driving the doors would not lock with the auto door lock feature on when vehicle gets in motion. I have to manually push the lock button for each door and when I manually lock the doors that is when the door lock/unlock buttons will work properly. Had children in the back seat and while I tried to lock the door it would not lock. Had to pull the vehicle over to hand lock each door. But very dangerous either way because I can't control what kids will do in the back in middle of the highway and if I try to lock the door I won't be able to.

Recall : it isn't on recall list but having the same problems the other recalls for same vehicle and year. Was driving and engine stalled on the loop, I was almost hit by multiple cars. I finally got the kia to start and it began to make loud tapping noise and not letting rpms reach 3k. Nobody seems to want to help since the car only has 87k miles and now the engine is failing for no reason. I believe if the engine is doing the same thing as the other recalls, why haven't there been a recall on this kia. ?? I've tried calling dealers and etc nobody is helping me.

Steering wheel electronic controls(speed control, radio, ). Airbag light on with no collision having occurred, replaced headlights twice in last year, brake lights replaced once.

On 7/5/2014 9:00 a. M. I place the key in the ignition, turned the key but the car would not turn over to start. I have been experiencing acceleration issue also.

Bought a pre-certified used 2014 kia Sorento sxl. Passed all 150 inspection. Less than 24 hrs after buying the car, the following morning my pregnant wife was driving to work in rush hour traffic on the highway and all a sudden the car would not accelerate. She was pressing the gas pedal to the floor and the car was going 5 mph. She was so scared, specially being pregnant, that the cars were going to hit her. She tried getting into the shoulder but she was going so slow that cars were zipping pass her. Thankfully she able to get to the shoulder. Huge safety issue!!! after getting to a safe area, she turned the car back off and on, the car worked perfectly fine. Took it back to the dealership and they couldn't replicate the problem and their computer sensor couldn't pick up anything wrong with the vehicle. So long story short, nothing was done. There was a recall for accelerator pedal assembly for 2016 kia Sorento. The affected Sorento were built from oct 27, 2014 and Jan 29, 2015. Our car just missed it by a few months. I guess kia is just waiting for a huge accident for them to do something about it. I hope it wouldn't be us.

Turning to park my car in a parking lot, took a slight turn into the spot and the car shot up the incline like a rocket by its self.

While accelerating to merge onto the freeway, the car seemed to lose power. It continued to run for a while, but would not accelerate past 60 mph. Light went on indicating engine problem. Pulled car over to side of the road and it died completely. We had a very similar problem with this vehicle approximately 2 years ago. After bringing the car into our dealership multiple times 2 years ago, our kia dealership told us that they could not recreate the problem and reset some electrical portion of the car. Both times that this (2015 and 2013/4) happened we had our young children in the car. I fear for my safety and the safety of my children in this car.

Everytime I put the car in drive it makes a harsh banging noise. It also decides to just shut off as soon as I press on the gas or slow down after I've already started going on city streets I can also hear and feel clicking under driver's side floor board as I'm turning into drive ways,parking spots etc. This is an everyday thing that started last year.

Speedometer needle is impossible to see during sunny days. The needle is too narrow and a poor color choice for the background. This is dangerous not knowing your speed and having to take your eyes off the road too long to try to read it.

When driving the Sorento sx wearing sunglasses, the digital speedometer needle is virtually invisible. You can't readily confirm the vehicle's speed. You have to tilt your head and peer under or over the sunglasses to see the needle which is too dark against the black background. This means your eyes are off the road far longer than the typical glance needed with traditional speedometers. This design flaw will undoubtedly lead to unnecessary accidents, injury and death.
