Despite being a low risk deployment airbag, if the airbag warning light is illuminated and the vehicle continues to be driven without being repaired, the front passenger airbag will deploy in a frontal impact regardless of whether the seat is occupied or not.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, when the air bags warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to 2 independent mechanics and was front driver side air bag s (all 6) were faulty. I brought my car to dealer because airbags warning light was on. They charged $124 to diagnose and recommend replacing driver seat back to fix it. It will cost $2100. I declined, then I saw many people had same or similar issue and complained on the internet. Please investigate this matter.
