general problems of the 2015 Kia Motor Sorento

The clock spring went bad with no warning.

Turned the steering wheel to the right, and the airbag warning light came on. It’s a safety issue that needs to be addressed. If I’m ever in an accident will it deploy? this is ridiculous. Waiting to get an appointment with the dealership.

The contact's mother owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing an abnormal oil consumption. The contact stated that the vehicle had consumed three quarts of oil after 367 miles. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the vehicle could be experiencing an internal oil leak. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where an oil consumption test was initiated. The dealer informed the contact to come back after 300 miles. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated, and the front passenger's side seat belt pretensioner failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

2015 kia Sorento - airbag light came on. Mechanic diagnosed as a faulty clock spring assembly. Checked carfax for recalls and nothing came up with his error code, however, there is a recall for 2011-2015 Sorento airbag clock spring assembly. The same repair, but not coming up for my VIN #. Cost of repair is $$$$ out of pocket.

This product continually needs oil. The engine smells all the time as though it may be burning. I have spent hundreds of dollars on oil. It is not able to have consistent oil changes due to there often times being no oil in the veh to change. The low oil indicator never shows. Also, the brake lights are constantly blowing out. On one occasion a bulb burned into its housing and had to be pried out in order to replace it. I have complained to kia to no avail. It’s stopped twice. Yesterday most recently. It started shaking and making a clinking noise and shut off. It’s being towed to the dealership. Kia is aware of the fire potential and has sent written directives on where not to park.

Airbag lights remain on regardless of what’s in the passenger seat. Engine smells like burning metal when driven longer than 15minutes. Ticking noises when the steering wheel is turned. Acceleration issues vehicle lags when initially starting after being off for hours. Mechanics have looked at them kia dealership wont assist.

Since the beginning of November, 2021, without incidence or prior warning, the airbag warning light came on when the vehicle is started and stays on the entire time the vehicle is on. The vehicle was brought to a kia dealership on November 18th to diagnose the issue under extended 15 year warranty for two airbag recalls (one for clock spring and the other for ods sensor). The diagnosis determined that the clock spring and ods sensor were not causing the warning light to remain on, and the cause was a airbag code b1473, driver curtain airbag circuit resistance high, and the dealership stated that it needed a driver side curtain airbag, estimated at $1,800. 00, and not covered by warranty. Since this condition results in the airbag warning light to remain lit while the car is on and running, this causes a safety issue in that the driver does not know if the airbag will deploy if needed. Further, there is no way the driver would know if another airbag fault, for example, a front airbag issue, occurs, because the airbag light is already on. This condition poses a serious safety concern and should be addressed by the manufacturer.

My airbag came on in my 2015 kia. It is a tension airbag, I believe. It won't go off. There are recalls in every other year but 2015. It is the same recall as the other years.

My car shows airbag signal however I never involve in any kind of accident and also when I turn on ac it blow hot air and my backup camera not working.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact stated that he was stopped at a stop sign. Another vehicle made a very wide turn and crashed at 60 mph into the driver's side between the driver and passanger doors. None of the air bags deployed with the collision. A police report was filed. The contact and his son were taken to hospital latter on. The contact had whiplash and had a headache and his infant son had a swollen face from hitting the side of his car seat with bruises. The contact's wife and daughter were not injured. The contact went to a millitary hospital since he was on active duty. The vehicle was totaled with damage to the driver's side rear passanger door being smashed in , the tierode was snapped. The rear tire on the passanger's was smashed from the top inward and the tire on the passanger's side was pushed outward. The dealer and the manufacturer were not yet notified. The wreck was towed from the crash site. The failure mileage was 69,000. Tf.

Airbag symbol light stays on.

I purchased the 2015 kia Sorento new in the year of 2014 from the kia dealership located in meridian, ms. Since the purchased. . . My goodness, I've had airbag system issues, electrical issues with my lights, the electronic outlets for device input, control panel on steering to make accessing the radio and phone; the buttons always jam with the slightest touch!! last but definitely not least the motor has a recall as of today's date 09/2020. Plus the transmission jerks in gear and I'm told that that was because of the old motor defects. . , but now that the motor has been replaced and the transmission is worse!! the fact I've been going to dealership expressing my issues and nothing is been done other than now being told, MA'am you're out of warranty! that I need to come out of pocket $2,200 for they're negligence. Sounds like it's time for me to retain an attorney!!!.

While driving on the interstate my SUV loose excelarate and engines light and oil pan light came on I pulled over and engine shut down try turning SUV over and it did not turn over I had it towed and machanic said the engine is freeze up.

I was driving the car and then it slowed down to 40 mph and cut off on the highway. I cranked it back up and it made a weird noise. I called a tow truck. Took it to the shop and they said the engine needs to be repaired. There is no way that it should be having motor issues. The oil has always been changed on time. Also I have to change the headlight bulbs on the left and right.

The contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. While driving approximately 20 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front end of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle was pushed into a telephone pole on the passenger side. None of the air bags deployed, but the vehicle was filled with a very strong smell coming from the air bags. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required a medical attention. The contact's vehicle was towed to an auto body yard that was associated with the local dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.

My car first off is a lemon kia has dragged me along from the beginning. My engine was replaced due to a smoke fire no flames they have yet to take blame for it and had my car for a month in the shop and wouldn't tell me anything they still don't admit it was a car fire but I know it was I had witnesses trying to pull me out of the vehicle which I had towed to kia. Before that happened I took it in twice letting them know I had shortage problems with my lights turning off and bulbs going out over and over with the headlights it happen one time at night at a speed of 70mph they told me to change the blub that was the problem treated me like I was crazy I've been pulled over for one headlight and officers told me to sue and trade or turn in my vehicle it was a lemon. I knew nothing about lemon laws until it was to late and kia knew exactly what to say to keep me at bay for almost two years now I'm still having issues and no carlot will take it as a trade due to fire hazard issues and they don't want the risk and I have 4 recalls on this year. It was the worst year for kids. I bought this SUV new planning to take trips I have yet to take one trip with my family because we're afraid . Kia could have taken it back and gave us a year newer to make our troubles go away but instead have avoided the situation and drag it out as my fault my vehicle has lost value and if resold all the things will pull up and I don't feel safe selling this to another family so I am stuck I paid $35,000 for this vehicle they should have taken it back now the airbag light is on doesn't go off it's a recall I found out so another safety hazards I have a newborn baby I'm due in September I can't risk anymore time with what this vehicle has been said to do last week in oregon just the city next to me the same year kia caught fire I have the pictures thank goodness no one got hurt it was a horrible scene. I have leaking of some sort that has damaged my driveway and I have low oil all the time.

I am a short adult. Because the front passenger seat does not adjust up or down, I need to put a pillow between me and the seat to raise me higher. When I do this, the air bag will not engage.

How can NHTSA give a 5-star safety rating to a 2015 kia sorrento based on a 2013 crash test done on this model vehicle when there is obvious a problem with this vehicle in the 2014/2015 kia sorrento models.
