Pearl white paint is chipping and peeling all over my car.
While driving through a rain storm on 8/13/23 the paint on my vehicle started to peel off. I have since discovered that this is an issue with kia, especially the pearl white color. My vehicle looks like it has been vandalized. Pictures are available. My safety was jeopardized when chunks of paint from the hood were hitting my windshield while driving on the interstate. On 8/14/23 I took my vehicle to a body shop and they estimated $3,336 to repair or repaint the damage. The formal estimate is available, too. I have been unable to talk to a live person at kia customer service, but will continue to call so the incident is on the record with them. My two driver side doors will only open from the inside when unlocked. The handles are not damaged.
The car consumes oil to the point there's no oil in the engine. Not a result of a leak but rather the engine is actually burning it. I've taken it to 4 dealers, all confirmed it's due to kia's bad engine design & that there's no visible leak anywhere. The kia dealer also confirmed there is no oil level sensor but only an oil pressure sensor. According to the dealer, I don't qualify for a new engine until the check engine light turns on or the vehicle results in a fire. I have to get the oil topped off every 500 miles. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle. The dealership also states I'm no longer covered under the warranty as I'm a 3rd owner. My coverage ends at 60,000. I was not aware of this during purchase of the vehicle back in 2020.
My kia 2021 hybrid ex has a message warning to "refill inverter coolant". Took it to dealer and they said it's a software issue, but no remedy is available.
Was driving down road that was dry with sunshinning. Vehicle traction control then came on breaks went to the floor and steering wheel started to jerk while the car was still going 55 mph.
2014 kia Sorento; at 80775 miles the passenger side pillar by the front windshield the pearl white paint has peeled off. There was no impact. The paint code is swp. I see that this is a wide-seen condition of this paint color; pearl white with the kia vehicles. I can see other spots on the car that appear to be weak and ready to peel.
No remedy to fix in over three months. Told not to drive car if installed.
September 2022 recall for tow hitch harness has produced no information for repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer has made any progress in correcting potential fire problems associated with this tow hitch.
It appears there are numerous people with the same issue with the pearl white paint on the 2014 kia Sorento, paint bubbling and coming off in chunks. Kia should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to consumers. This is a defect and needs to be rectified immediately. I received quotes for the car to be completely painted and it was from $9,000 to over $12,000. This is more than outrageous. I bought my car brand new. Cars are very expensive and now my resale value has diminished tremendously. Kia dealership could care less as well as corporate. If it was within the 36,000 miles you might get help, but anything over that, too bad!!! I will never purchase another vehicle from kia. I wish someone would start a class action lawsuit against kia because this is immoral to say the least. Finally: the car is even worse than the pictures I uploaded for this complaint, and I filed a complaint with kia and they won't address the problem with the paint. I have all my e-mails with them. I was able to upload some current pictures as well.
The paint is peeling off down to the metal. On the roof (front and back) and on the hood.
Since I purchased the car on 9/14/2020 I have had to get brakes done 3 times. First bought and replaced the brakes within 30days then on 12/22/21 replaced again and on 6/24/2022 brakes rotors and calipers.
The paint is bubbling and blistering along with delmination in some area's. I see this is a known reoccurring issue with the snow white pearl paint on many other kia's as well. My car only has 31,000 miles on it and has been well taken care of with the exception of this manufacturer issue. First noticed a small delamination on the a pillar in 2019, now blisters are noticed and speading over many panels of the vehicle.
