Tl the contact owns a 2019 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the front passenger seat belt alert did not chime when the seat belt was not buckled. The contact called south hills kia at 724-942-3000 (located at 3644 washington rd, mcmurray, PA 15317) where the technician was unable to explain the failure. The technician promised to look into the matter and call the contact back, but the contact had not received a response. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer an explanation. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
I was driving on a major interstate in GA (I-75 southbound). Traffic came to a stop; I was at a complete stop when I was rear ended at 70mph by a 3500 Dodge ram. I was pushed into the car in front of me which caused major damage to the front and rear of my vehicle. My driver's seat broke, not a single air bag deployed and my seat belt did not lock. This caused my face to hit the steering wheel which broke my jaw in two places, dislodged teeth and caused me to temporarily black out. My jaw required emergency surgery and I now have a plate and four screws in my jaw for the rest of my life - I'm 25 years old. In addition to the photos below, I have dash cam footage of the accident as it happened which I can provide. My email is kheineman13@yahoo. Com I can email it if needed. Thank you for your time.

While driving car home from a short trip, we started noticing a noise that seemed to sound like a small muffler leak. No loss of power or any warning lights were apparent at all. Continued driving thinking I could have the hole in muffler fixed the next day. After traveling some 30 miles to our exit, getting off the enter state, the car stalled, still no warning lights indicating anything was wrong, . The car restarted and I continued to drive home until it stopped again. I called for road assistance and had it towed to my mechanic.

Passenger seat belt alarm/warning not indicated when front seat passenger is not buckled. Alarm/warning goes on only when the driver's belt is not buckled. Had the car checked at the local dealer and they were not aware of this as a problem. I emailed kia on 3/31/18 and called kia today and they stated that this feature is not a part of the car. The agent did acknowledge that they received my email. I had not received a response as oo 4/3/18 when I called to inquire. Note: although we've had the car for 4 years, we've not noticed this problem because we've always buckled. The other day, I accidentally was unbuckled and realized that no alarm or indicator told us to buckle. I read the manual and there was only information about the driver's seat belt and warnings. Nothing about passenger seat belts. Isnt this a safety issue? shouldn't owners be informed?.

Back driver side door will not open, I went online and searched my vehicle and this seems to be an ongoing problem. Middle back seat belt is stuck down in the seat and you can't not get it out.
Multiple seatbelt latch failures causing the belts to not properly latch. Both front seatbelts have failed, and I have 5 belts in back that I don't think I can trust to work properly. Major safety issue. Even when my vehicle was under warranty they wouldn't cover the cost to fix.
When your in the passer seat and the seatbelt not hook up it doesn't alarm to let you know your seatbelt not fasten. All there other vehicles do.
The contact owns a 2016 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, no audible alarm was present when the front passenger seatbelt was not secured. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 10,000.
I had to ride in my own backseat for the first time today. The rear seat belt goes across my neck and I am 5 foot 8 inches. Looked over at my daughter who is 5 foot and it was just as bad for her.

2016 kia Sorento smells like vinegar or rotten spoil egg. Took it to where I got it from and they want me to pay 99. 00 to air out the car. I refuse to pay that. My car is not the only one doing it I see other kia's are doing it and the seat belt sometime don't go back and gets stuck in the door. This is a kia problem that I shouldn;t have to pay for.
When someone is sitting in the front passenger seat and does not have their seat belt on there is no warning alerting the operator of the vehicle, no lights blinking or no bells dinging. I have done a little research and this appears to be common on at least some kia vehicles. Pretty much every other vehicle I have checked gives some kind of warning if passenger is not buckled. The seatbelt system is part of the restraint system (as I'm sure you know) so I would think that would be a big safety issue.
No seat belt warning on passenger side. A safety issue.
Each door handle is popping and I'm unable to open doors from the outside. The rear passenger door has stopped working and at the time the child lock was on and I can no longer use that door at all. The seatbelt on the rear driver's side will not buckle into the socket and my child has to wrap the belt around him when he rides in the back. Should an accident occur, not only will he not be fully covered by his safety seat, but if we should have to escape suddenly, neither of us can just open our doors and get out! this is an ongoing issue and it's quite expensive to get fixed at the dealer. Also, just recently while driving the gear shaft popped out of place and my father taped it back on so that I'm able to get back and forth to work and school.

Seat belt did not unlatch after crash.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Sorento. While turning into a parking lot during inclement weather conditions, the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a metal pole. The contact stated that the driver side seat belt failed to retract. The contact sustained a cracked sternum, neck and back pains that required medical attention. The passenger sustained a back injury that required medical attention. The contact also stated that four additional passengers sustained minor abrasions that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
I've had my 2013 kia Sorento for just over 3 years. I was in a one car accident and my seatbelt didn't retract and my airbag didn't deploy. I broke my sternum and have back problems. The problems I've had with my Sorento are replacing headlights, I had to get a new battery and brakes after one year. My airbag light doesn't go off right away. Before my accident it was in the shop because my airbag light stayed on. Now I have no power all my lights stopped working. When I put the truck in drive and turn it off, I can't take the key out I have to put it back in park again. My Sorento was shaking and making noise when the ligjts stopped working. I have no temp gage at all.
When driving vehicle upon coming to stop when you step on brake to stop car the shoulder strap of seat belt will not engage unless a certain amount of pressure is used, and, even then it will not engage all the time. The technation said this is the way the shoulder strap works. I work for usps and when we come to a stop I vehicles steat belts lock you in place.
(amendments to odi#s: 10668775 & 10663356 - update) on 12/01/2014, I was in a 2015 kia Sorento lx (enterprise insurance rental) traveling on crabb river road, (a city street) sugarland, texas. I fully stopped at the traffic lights because it was red. Once lights turned green, I put the vehicle in motion by stepping on the gas pedal to accelerate but the car felt really sluggish so I gave it more gas in order to gain enough speed as I was about to go over some railroad tracks (approx. 55+ mph) which were on a road that was on an incline. Right as the car reached the tracks, the engine stalled, the steering wheel locked and I lost all control of the vehicle and it dove into a ditch; plowed directly into a steel billboard pole which was cemented into the ground because the brakes became unresponsive. There were no warning lights on the dash prior to the crash. Even though I was fully buckled, the seatbelt did not prevent my head from violently hitting the windshield and bouncing off the steering wheel since none of the 8 airbags deployed. I suffered near fatal injuries including a broken back (l2 fracture), spinal cord, head, eye, chin, jaws, neck and hip; broken teeth, permanent disfiguration (18 stitches), some vision & hearing loss from nerve damage and ptsd, mental anguish, chronic migraines, extreme stress, terrible recurring nightmares, etc. I'm a 5'2" woman and my chest was pinned to the steering wheel upon the impact with the pole and the fire dept. Had to free me and lift me up to the emts. I was transported to the er of a hospital by ambulance and later transferred to the trauma unit of memorial hermann hospital due to the severity of my injuries.
I was in a stopped position when I was rear ended by a vehicle who was rear-ended by a 3rd vehicle. I watched my 9 year old who was buckled in the 2nd row passenger side get thrown around forwards and backwards during the first impact, I then put the car into park as we were hit a second time and I watched her get thrown around forward and backward again. The seatbelt did not engage at either point of impact.

I buckled in my seat belt as usual only to find when shifting to drive the seat belt indicator light continued to flash. I checked the children's seat belt to make sure they were buckled in and they were. I disconnected my seat belt and tried to reconnect and it would not reconnect. I visited the dealership as the vehicle was purchased roughly 3 months ago and was informed by the general sales manager this was not their problem and a loaner could not be provided until the part comes in. I asked if I would be safe and he reiterated again this was not their problem. I asked for the general manager and was denied the opportunity to speak with him. I buckled into the passenger buckle and was later informed this was unsafe, if I were to have an accident, I would not be protected. I have received no assistance. This has yet to be fixed.
I have 2 convertible car seats in the back seat of my Sorento. One car seat is behind the driver and one behind the passenger seat, both are rear facing. They are secured using the seat belts, not latch, due to weight limits per the car seat manual. The seatbelts securing the car seats have been releasing on their own while driving, both while my children were in their car seats and without my children. Most recently, I was making a left turn from a stop at a stop light when I heard one of the car seats sliding on the seat of the car. I immediately pulled over to buckle the seat back in. This has happened a total of 6 times behind the passenger and 2 times behind the driver in the past month- month and a half. The car seats have been in another vehicle and did not have this problem. I called kia 2 times and took my car to the local dealership. The local dealership had a technician buckle the seat belt and pull on it. They told me nothing was wrong, there is nothing they can do and sent us on our way. Kia then told me that there is really nothing they can do either if they cannot see what is happening. I voiced my concern about getting into an accident and this happens, what will happen to my children? the car seat itself is only safe if properly secured in the car. Kia did not sound very concerned and told me I needed to replicate this in front of a service technician at the dealership. This happens sporadically while I am driving. I find this to be a huge safety concern and am very unhappy with how kia is handling it.
While driving at night on a county road, loud clicking noise came from dashboard, seat belt warning light flashed on and off, and headlights flashed off all at the same time. Headlights remained off for 1-2 seconds, came back on, and went off again, and on again. This has happened at least a dozen times since then while driving at night, and also a few times during the daytime (I hear the clicking and see the seat belt indicator light). Mechanics at kia dealership said they "could not duplicate" and made no attempt to correct the problem. This happens more often when driving at highway speed (60-70 mph). It has also happened twice after stopping the car and shutting off the ignition. It is a serious safety concern and makes me afraid to drive at night!.
When someone sits in the passenger seat, the sensor does not detect passenger. The light stays in the off position and the air bag light in the dashboard will not cut off.

We were traveling down I-64 at 6:45 pm at 70 mph when a downpour began suddenly my husband eased off of the accelerator and as we entered the rain. We began to hydroplane we spun 180 degrees. He regained control only to hydroplane again. This time he did a 360 and went into a ditch hitting a earthen embankment with the front fender spinning us around and pushing the rear of the car up the embankment this then caused the car to begin rolling we rolled at least 4 times before sliding at least 100 yards down the interstate. No airbags deployed. My husbands seat belt held. However, I was in the back seat with our son and my seat belt as well as his released throwing us into the cargo area. We all were injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance. When we notified kia they acted as if this was no big deal.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly hydro-planed and then rolled over four times before landing in a ditch. Both rear seat belts became unlatched independently and the air bags failed to deploy upon impact. The contact sustained bruises, scrapes and lacerations to the shoulder area. Two rear passengers also sustained lacerations. Another passenger suffered from a concussion and a bruised kidney. A police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a salvage center. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The VIN was unavailable.
My low beam headlights keep blowing out, my rear wind shield wiper doesn't lay on the glass. Therefore, it doesn't clean well, the seatbelt in the middle row keeps falling in the seat crack making it hard to get out and buckle up. My rear kia symbol is chipping paint.
My 2005 kia Sorento hydroplaned . The SUV flipped over 3 times and hit an concrete wall. My airbags and seat belt failed to secure me . Kia says that my car does not have roll over airbags that they are not responsible for my injuries. I feel that kia should own up to the poorly made SUV that they design .
I was in a three car accident in which I rear ended a stopped vehicle at 40mph. Upon looking at kia's own website and the owner's manual for the 2011 kia Sorento, I can see that the impact took place on the airbag sensor on the drivers side of the vehicle. The airbags failed to deploy & the front drivers side seat belt & front passenger side seat belt failed to 'lock'. This resulted in my 92 year old grandmother hitting the dash with her face, and I as the driver, hit my head on the steering wheel sustaining a concussion & whiplash. I am still suffering severe pain that I have to be medicated for with narcotics, and short term memory loss. My grandmother, luckily only sustained facial bruising.
This 2006 kia Sorento was purchased new (only owner) and has had numerous problems with the interior and exterior electrical system as follows: 1. The power control to both side mirrors no longer functions. 2. The electric door locks will suddenly lock on their own just by opening and closing a door. 3. The front and rear window washers no longer work (safety hazard); dealer wants to charge over $500 to fix without even saying what is exactly wrong. 4. Brake lights and headlights burn out or short out far too often, creating severe safety hazards. I have never had to replace lights on a vehicle so often, and I have owned at least 12 different vehicles in my life. 5. Seat belt straps no longer retract properly and places a lot of tension on your lap/waist when used. There have been thousands of complaints on this very same model for the same reasons. The federal government should better protect its citizens from poor quality and dangerous flaws in such vehicles. There should have been a forced recall for the entire electrical system on this model. I am filing formal complaint with the u. S. Congress as well. There should be a federal investigation of kia/Hyundai because I have seen hundreds of the same issues and complaints on their car models as well, including both kia and Hyundai models which are by the same manufacturer. This is totally ridiculous that you do nothing about this, yet it is costing taxpayers thousands of dollars and even risking their lives.

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the driver¿s seat control cover was fractured. The seat cover plastic became hooked onto the contact¿s pants and caused her to fall to the ground, injuring her knee. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they advised that they were unable to determine why the seat cover continued to fail. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and they stated that they were aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. Kmj.
From point of purchase (November 2010) the vehicle always had a hard start, the seat belt was incorrectly installed and the gas lid fails to open without manual prodding. In April 2012 the engine failed to start, and then this continued to happen multiple times thereafter. The dealership changed the battery and service the vehicle. In the following months a series of issues continued, windshield washer pump stopped working, failure start, loud knocking sound in the engine while idle and driving, and then the car started to stall and thrust hard forward. The car was serviced again, oil changed, the changed the pump and filters, all reported problems persisted through 2013. For three months the car remained in the dealership service shop where the engine was serviced, and some ?tappets? were replaced. The dealership cracked the engine cover, replaced it, without informing me. All engine, fail start, and windshield pump issues continues to persist to date (September 2013) despite multiple services.
Esc off light comes on, sudden loss of acceleration, head lights constantly needing to be changed. Middle seat belt in back malfunctions by not unlocking at times.
