1) wiring harness is malfunctioning causing bulbs to prematurely blow. I’m constantly having to replace turn signal bulbs, headlight bulbs, taillight bulbs and break light bulbs. 2) I’ve read many accounts online that this is a common occurrence in the 2013 kia Soul. 3) this put drivers behind me at risk when my tail lights/break lights fail. Since they are behind me, I have no idea that they have failed because there’s no warning lights that alert me to the issue. 4) I have left multiple messages at multiple locations and phone numbers for kia and their service departments, for over a month and nobody has returned my phone calls.
I have a 2013 kia Soul, I have been paying my loan on this car since 2016. I take care of it and routinely do oil changes on it and up keep. Over the course of the past four months I noticed my car acting up, I had taken it to shops and none could find a problem. My car was not starting up, I would have to jiggle my wheel to miraculously get the vehicle to start. Then once it started it wouldn't accelerate and would slowly go into neutral. Progressively it got worse, my car would turn off if I was parked or at a stop sign or when going 20mph or less. On 12/24/2020 as I was driving my car on a major highway I saw smoke coming from my car. I turned the vehicle off and then as I restarted it, there was a loud clanging and the car was jumping. I immediately turned it off and got it towed. I am at a loss and completely at risk with this vehicle please help.
My car died while driving on highway going 75mph with 70k miles thats about when a vehicle should be breaking in not breaking down. My steering wheel is loose, gas play. The radio sometimes doesnt come on and my engine just sounds clogged.
It's been a lot of complications with the car steering collar car make a loud sound while driving over 60mph knock sensor causes a lot of problems with holding gas engine is very loud.
Engine lite when on. Got a recall notice. Had recall performed. Recall state that if damage was done to catalytic converter it would also be replaced. A few months later after recall performed engine light comes on saying catalytic converter problem. They say I need to pay $2000 to get fixed. I believe it should have been replaced at time of recall.
Radio/backing camera stopped working. Had camera replaced earlier. Radio comes on but plays no sounds.
This is the second complaint being filed reguarding this car. After we filed the first complaint we took our car back into the kia dealership for the check engine light flashing. They scanned engine and didn't find anything. They topped off our oil because it was half full. I just recently got my oil change done there 2,000 miles ago. According to the owners manual it should be done every 7,500 miles. The following day we were driving down the freeway, pulled off at our exit and smelled a horrid leak burning/ rotten egg/ sulfur smell. We immediately pulled of the road and checked the car for flames. We didn't find any. I'm really starting to feel unsafe about being in this vechiel.
Kia Soul 2013 recall. We were driving home from work on the freeway going about 55mph and the check engine light started flashing. We rushed immediately to the kiadealership after hearing about the kia engine fires. They scanned our vechiel and saidone of the engine coils may stop working. They said our car could just stop working on the road and then we would need to tow it in. This doesn't sound like a clear explaination of the problem to me. I'm concerned we'll keep driving the car and it will catch on fire.
Was driving down the interstate when all the lights on the dash come on and the car shut down. Has not cranked since.
My car has 55k miles on it. I purchased it October 2013. The steering coupling just went bad and now I have to pay $500 for the repair. This complaint seems to be prevalent with this vehicle. It should be a recall. Also, the passenger side window will not go back up with driver's side control. The dealer is telling me that that is also out of warranty and that it will $350 for the repair. I'm confused. . . How can none of this be covered under warranty? plus, I'm still waiting for kia miles per gallon settlement from 4 years ago. If this is they way they operate, I'll never buy another one.
I went on a trip from orlando to keywest with two young children in the car and I broke down. Thankfully, I had through insurance free towing. Got towed to an automotive store and they said nothing was wrong they checked the battery and accelerator and multiple items I have proof of on paper. I began to drive again and my car wouldnt start when I stopped to get gas. Someone had to jump my car at the gas station and it happens on and off not everytime but I have to push my gas and turn my key at the same time to get my car to start. In addition, when I am driving I hear sounds and brought it to kia in keywest. I bought an accelerator for $717. 54 and still having issues! luckily, I just made it home tonight with my children and we are safe but this is still an issue and after paying all of that money I am livid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
So I am actually shocked that there's no complaint logged here about this, yet it seems to be everywhere all over the internet. Our 2013 kia Soul (and this happens with more than just our year) when making a right turn, the door ajar indicator comes on, on the dash panel, and the ignition key ring that illuminates, and also illuminates the door/map lights in the center console. You don't even have to just be making a right turn for it to come on. If you touch (not hit it or be forceful) the drivers door panel, you can make it come on, and sometimes it goes right out and sometimes it doesn't. I know what you're going to say "make sure the door is closed tightly!" well the door is closed. All 4 doors and the hatch are securely closed, and it's only the drivers door. It will not do it when the vehicle is not running, it only does it with the key in the ignition, and the vehicle running. I am shocked this is not a recall. I have seen this with other Souls dating back to 2009! I am reluctant of taking the door apart, but I mean seriously!.
Well the first item is the dealership told me there was a recall on the driver side panel door. The second problem right low beam light has been out now for almost two years I have been everywhere we had switched bulbs we have traced wires everything replace the relay still can I get that to work and sometimes he does lunds highway road you hit bumps all the lights come on in car it is some kind of electrical short in a car somewhere.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. While driving 5 mph, the radio shut off without warning. The dealer (heritage Toyota catonville, 6324 baltimore national pike, baltimore, MD 21228) stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure occurred several times. The manufacturer stated that since the vehicle was out of warranty, the repair would be at the contact's expense. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 64,000.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle shut down and the steering wheel locked. The failure recurred seven times and each time, the vehicle restarted. There was no warning indicator. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who was unable to replicate the failure and did not offer assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that nothing was wrong with the vehicle and there were no recalls. The failure mileage was 20,000.
When trying to start the car you turn the key and it does not turn over. You hear a click, all lights on dash light and radio plays but the car doesn't start. Sometimes you can turn the key up to 10 times before it starts. Happens 2-3 times a week sporadically. The car does eventually start. The driver side door also locks by itself at times when you shut the door. It has been to the dealer 3 times and for 17 days, they are unable to replicate the problem. My husband videoed it on Jan 5 and took it to the dealer who then kept car for 14 days and said they had over 150 starts and the problem could not be duplicated. Currently waiting for the problem to occur again and an tech will bring portable equipment to the car and test it then. Dealer have been very good in trying to find cause.
After owning this vehicle for a month or so, I noticed that when I turn on the vehicle the radio screen was half faded or gone. This is the screen that allows you to use the hands free device also. I took vehicle to dealers and they stated that the radio would have to be replaced. I was a bit confused as to how this could happen to a new car but. . . Stuff happens. I really enjoy this car and have had no other issues.
Car has problems playing mp3s in which I have used audacity to split up into multiple tracks. There is frequently cracking/popping sounds from the audio, and when turning on the car (after having listened to said mp3s on the previous trip), sometimes the radio display screen is black. No buttons will turn it on. It's completely dead. I have discovered this only happens with files that I've had run through audacity and split up into separate tracks.
I purchased the 2013 kia Soul used on 5/22/2021 and shortly afterward discovered water leaking into the front passenger side compartment and evidence that the leak was old. I brought the car to fred anderson kia of raleigh (kiaofraleigh. Com) on 6/7/21, 6/25/21, and 7/20/21, and they incorrectly diagnosed the leak as an air conditioner hose. And then, after they replaced the hose, they thought it might be a windshield leak. After the unneeded air conditioner repair, they referred me out for windshield/water leak testing. Mcconnell auto glass (mcconnellautoglass. Com) determined that the windshield was not leaking. The leak was coming in from substandard factory welding in the car frame. The car has never had frame repair on that side. My attempts to patch the bad weld joints with jd weld caused the leak to continue to move across multiple failing car frame welds. The leak has damaged the interior of the car, grown mold, and exposed the electrical components to failure, rust, and fire. I contacted kia corporation (800 333 4542) on 1/12/22, 1/20/22, and 1/21/22. They have told me that fred anderson kia will not return their outreach calls, and they would refer my case # 14586235 to the district manager for a callback -- which has not happened. They tell me the dm’s name and contact information are secret, so I can not call them. The frame welds. I have covered some of the leaking areas with jd weld, but the welds are unaltered and could be inspected by removing the jd weld. I also took several pictures. The leak is still present. The leak caused interior damage, including mold, and could damage electrical components due to moisture, rust, or fire. Fred anderson kia of raleigh verified the leak but could not correctly diagnose it. Mcconnell auto glass verified the leak. Yes, fred anderson kia of raleigh on 6/7/21, 6/25/21 and 7/20/21 I noticed the wet carpet shortly after I purchased the car, but there is evidence of long-term damage.

Airbag exploded on impact with gaping holes with heavy smoke coming out with hot heat causing redness to my chest and redness to my hands and a blow to my wrist that caused fracture to my left wrist.
