When turning my wheel at low speeds my steering clunks in the column and feels like it is going to come apart. I am scared I am going to loose stearing control. This happens all the time at low speeds or while in a parking lot. It started a month ago and is getting worse. I saw a recall on this but my car is not affe ted and should be.
Steering has developed 3 inch play, loose nut inside the steering column from research on the internet.
Arrythmical clicking/grinding sound from steering column at slower speeds and while stopped when steering wheel turned left or right. Seems to be a common problem with the kia Soul yet only 2014 through 2015 models were affected by a recall?.
While driving or stationary, I noticed a clicking sound in my steering wheel when moving it from side to side. I googled this and saw multiple complaints about this issue; however the recalls were not for the 2013 kia Soul's. I called kia customer service @ 1-800-333-4542 and they said that I would have to take it to the dealer have it diagnosed @ $143. 00 but cannot guarantee they would pay for the repair. I called the kia dealership in delray beach, FL and was told that the kia optima was recalled for this issue, but they have been getting more and more kia Souls coming in with this same problem. The cost for repair would be $400. 00 +. I should not be held responsible for this since kia is aware this part is of poor design and fails prematurely. Kia should be recalling all models since this is a safety concern and all models have the same defective mdps coupler in the steering column. I feel that anyone driving a kia is at risk.
Have started noticing a clicking sound from the steering column when I turn, this happens while stationary or in motion, this could become a major safety issue. I have read on line that kia is aware and covers 2014 and 2015 but not 2013 year this seems totally unfair.
When you turn on the car the steering wheel has this click click to each side and as you're driving down the road and you move the steering wheel a click sound is heard when moving steering wheel to the right and the left. The steering wheel makes this sound while you're sitting in the driveway in the carson park where the year actually driving down the road anytime you turn the wheel just a little right to the left it sounds like and feels like the steering wheel connection is going to break I'm not a car person but it's like when the steering column goes down and it will connect to shea a u joint and you turn the turn it one way or the other and do you join us not connecting properly that's the way I can describe it. I have no documents just a sound. This happens every time you turn the wheel right or left not a lot just a little bit it would be like in the play in a steering wheel but there should be no clicks.
The steering wheel is super loose and the car will veer right on its own. We took it in for an alignment ($80) and they said they have to go into steering column and diagnose and fix. They said most the parts were cheap, however the job is timely and tedious, therefore the anticipate it costing approximately $500 plus the $80 alignment. . . . So almost $600! all of this right at christmas time, and even worse, only two months after hurricane charlie demolished our home in panama city beach, FL and surrounding areas. The mechanic told us we were lucky the steering hasn't stopped working completely and warned us to not drive it because it would stopped working at some point and we could be in major accident.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. While driving low speeds and while the vehicle was stationary, an abnormal noise was detected coming from the steering wheel when it was turned left or right. The vehicle was taken to sunset kia of sarasota (7777 s tamiami trail, sarasota, FL 34231, (941) 308-7707) where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
For the past 6 months I have been to the car dealer for headlights and other lights out on the car as welll and the steering column is making clicking noises.
I suddenly started hearing a knocking sound coming from my steering column. I noticed it when I would make u-turns and when parking into a parking lane. After a day or two, the knocking began to be more frequent. I can be driving down the highway or stationary and the knocking will occur with a slight turn of the steering wheel also causing by wheel to be very loose. I dropped my vehicle off at the local kia dealership service department and they recommended the steering coupler be replaced. I declined services at that time and took my vehicle to another kia dealership. All I did was pull into the service department lane and spoke to a service department employee explaining what issues I am having with my steering and he immediately said " I don't even have to look at your car I know what the problem is; it is the steering coupler, we see this all the time but kia will not recall the Soul model for this issue. " I then went home and researched kia vehicles to find the optima vehicles had the same issue and were recalled. I then called the customer service 1-800 -333-4542 and submitted a complaint stating I do not feel safe driving and asked why this issue has not been recalled on Souls as I see many complaints online about this issue and other kia models have been recalled for the same problem. My information was taken and I am expecting a call within the next couple of days from the department parts and service manager as the warranty expired after 60,000 miles and I currently 66,815 miles. I believe kia should be held responsible for this issue since they are aware of this ongoing problem with their product!.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated that the steering column made an abnormal sound and the steering wheel was completely loose and unstable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (boniface hiers kia, 880 s apollo blvd, melbourne, FL 32901, (321) 951-9595) where the failure was acknowledged; however, they stated that there was no recall on the 2013 model. Hello I have a 2013 kia Soul with only 56,000 miles on it. Last year around February my cars steering column started having this awful rattling and knocking sound coming from it. I can't drive over 55mph or it gets really bad and loud. This also causes my blinkers not to work properly on and off. I had surgery around the same time it started and I'm just getting back to being able to drive. Except I'm afraid that the steering is going to break and cause a big wreck and no this isn't a wheel balance issue. Has anyone else had this problem that you know of? I'm going to call the dealer today and get it in to be checked. I can't even get on the interstate because of the fear of it breaking and the extremely loud noises is causes.
