Car cuts off when idling. I took it to the mechanic several times and they produced the issue once but could not diagnose and would give it back to me at no charge. When it cuts off the rpms will sometimes stay at 0 even when I start the car again. Sometimes the check engine light will come on along with the traction light. Mechanic said it shows catalytic codes but said nothing is wrong with catalytic converter. They said they can’t find anything wrong to warrant repair. The check engine and traction control lights stay on and then go off randomly. The car cuts off at stop lights and today it cut off when I was turning right at a stop sign. I was already out in the road and someone was behind me. Thankfully no one was coming down the road at full speed. I am afraid to drive the car but no one knows what is wrong with it or how to fix it.
Bought car in March 2023, two days after purchasing the light came on with code 0456. Which is a small evap leak. Got multiple fixes with various mechanics including dealer. And no one can figure out what is wrong with it. It shows as a permanent code not allowing for emissions. Spent thousands and called corporate kia and they were no help. So car had a permanent code which seems to be an electrical issue from computer not sensing the right thing as the car drives perfectly fine.
2/17/23 car was disabled on highway lost speed in the middle of traffic and could not go over 20mph at dealership- it was confirmed that catalytic convertor went out. 2/23/23 car cc was replaced picked it up and noticed weird sound from engine 2/24/23 car returned to dealership 3/3/23 dealership stated the engine was bad 3/13/23 we were informed that kia would not cover the repairs and we had to pay $5700 4/3/23 dealership called and said car was ready to be picked up car has 78,000 miles on it and has been well maintained - we have all of the service records we understand there is a class action lawsuit where high exhaust gas temperatures may damage the catalytic convertor, resulting in abnormal engine combustion damaging the engine. We have been told that our engine did not qualify under the VIN number that we had. Kia has had known engine problems for over 12 years and we feel that the cc damaged the engine and this is what caused the failure. There were no warning signs, no smoke out of the exhaust etc we just keep getting the run around saying that our VIN was not part of the recall even though our engine had only 78,000 miles and it was very well maintained. Please let us know if we can get any help in paying for this huge expense.
Our car was sold to us not knowing about a recall. It was taken to a local kia. The car dealership says they didn’t know. It’s already had a replaced catalytic converter and didn’t fix the problem. Our engine light, abs light and a skidding light come on and off. No one will listen to us. We don’t know what to do next.
The paint of the vehicle has just started to come off the car in chunks.
My car has a recall and a class action suit. I had my kia serviced on sept 19th, 2022 at tire kingdom, to include a full synthetic oil change, cabin filter replaced, engine filter replaced, new brakes, and tires. On oct 18th as I drove into my home the oil light came on. I checked the oil and it was very low. I contacted tire kingdom and they said add oil and bring it in on oct 21st 2022 at 10:00 am. After buying oil, I was driving to tire kingdom. I entered hwy 582 and in approx 2 to 3 miles all the gauges came on and the temperature gauge was on high. I immedediately lost power and thankfully I was able to get off the highway as smoke completely blocked my visability. It was cold and rainy and very dangerous as cars flew by me and my dog. Finally, the tow truck came. My vehicle is currently at kia east in orlando and they are charging me 250. 00 to diagnose my car. My 2016 kia Soul VIN number kndjn2a22g7297159 has several recalls and a civil lawsuit. I have taken very good care of my car and this is very serious. I do not feel that I should be responsible for rebuilding or replacing my engine. The recall describes exactly what happened to my car.
I purchased my vehicle back in 2021 and I notice that the recall for the catalytic converter so I check my car reports and don’t see where it was replaced or service I recently went to get a check engine diagnostic and the code read p0420 which is problems with catalytic converter no one has been the owner of the vehicle since 2018 and I’m not sure if it was replace or replace incorrectly I shouldn’t be experiencing difficulties and I haven’t reached over 100,000 miles since the previous mileage @ the timing of the recall “fixture”.
Catalytic converter kept getting hot, was at dealership for a recall on engine in may 2022, light kept coming on and off. October 3, 2022 broke down on freeway for the catalytic took to mechanic spent $1200 for repair on catalytic converter, oil and spark plugs, within a day kept burning oil, by Sunday, October 23, 2022 broke down on freeway again and engine fried and burned piston #2 - I have many receipts for oil changes every 3k miles, always keep car maintained and have a notebook for everything I have repaired. The headlights and brake lights went out a month ago and never did get the brake bar light replaced. The passenger window motor is shot and the airbag light is on. Currently, it's at the dealership parked and I am waiting for corporate to give a go ahead to say it's a go to fix it, and I'm missing work and will loose my job without having a car. So I am asking why is my car not on the recall list if I am having the same issues as the recalled 2016 kia Souls are having. I haven't had the car very long and I had a 2009 kia sportage lx that is still going over 330k miles it's way better than these Souls. They all need to be sent back to the dealership and destroyed. Shame on kia corporation for allowing these 2016 cars on the market and shame on the dealership to sell me this car back in August 2019. People are out here struggling and only shows the corporations stay strong and the little guys loose. What kind of crap is that? why isn't my car on the VIN recall list? please tell me? I'm just lucky the car didn't start fire, because it burned piston #2.
Catalytic converter is bad.
Vehicle started fire. While driving we smelt a weird burning smell but went away we got off the highway and smelled it again but couldn't figure it out opened the hood and flame came up from back side of engine I was able to dump water on it and extinguish the fire then I noticed the cause of the fire the rubber strip under the hood towards back side of the motor somehow came off and fell into engine compartment laying across front pipe and exhaust manifold. Luckily no damage to vehicle.
Check engine light stays on parts house said catalliconverter bad dealer said it's not covered car only has 112000 also said that the steering not covered now what.
My car went out on me and was towed to the shop on Thursday 9/1/2022. I was told by the shop that I have been taking my car to for 15 years the catalytic converters were stopped up. I got online and looked up my car and found there was a recall issued on it. I never received anything telling me there had been or I would have taken it in for repair. This is what I found online. . . . March 4, 2019 kia is recalling 2012-2016 Soul vehicles equipped with 1. 6l gasoline direct injection (gdi) engines. High exhaust gas temperatures may damage the catalytic converter, possibly resulting in abnormal engine combustion, damage to the engine's pistons, and possible piston connecting rod failure. Engine damage can also stall the engine or result in an oil leak, which increases the risk of vehicle fires. I called kia covington pike and talked with the service department and was told there was nothing they could do. I also talked to a supervisor there and was told the same thing and that the warranty had expired. I looked up do car recalls ever expired and this is what I found. When a manufacturer issues a recall for a car because of factory errors or faults, it fixes all affected vehicles for free. But what happens if you only learn that they recalled your vehicle several years after the recall announcement? you may be worried that the dealer would charge you for the repair since the recall was announced a while ago. Car recalls don’t expire. So according to this my car is still covered under the recall. Since kia did not offer for me to bring it in and have them take care of the repair at no charge, I am asking when I get the bill for having my car repaired that kia reimburse me for their error. I am writing to the consumer protection agency and the department of transportation to file a complaint. This repair is costing me $1500. 00 which I had to borrow from the company I work because I didn't have the money.
I have been having issues with oil consumption since early fall 2022. I am the sole owner of my kia Soul plus and have had multiple oil consumption tests performed. I found out I had an oil consumption problem when my car shut off without warning on the highway. Luckily this happened around midnight when there wasn't a lot of traffic. I contacted the dealer and they did an oil consumption test, which it "passed" because the dipstick indicated there was still oil in the engine. After the first one, I started to monitor my car and it seems like a little past the 1k mark does the dipstick indicate there's no oil. I've done like 3 tests with the dealer, and I think the last one that was performed I think they put too much oil in it. I say this because when I checked the oil -- when the car sat for awhile to cool off-- there was oil past the fill line on the dipstick. When I asked about it, they made it seem like I invalidated the test because I simply checked the oil. I was also told to not check the oil when the car has been sitting. So now, I check it at different times; when it has and has not been sitting (when I get gas). What ended up happening was the guy just read the dipstick right there in front of me, said it was fine, topped of the oil and said I was good to go. I think they did this the second time as well but didn't think to check the oil level then. I also noticed oil stains/residue on my engine cover and asked the dealer about it, but received no answer. It seems like the oil stains are getting worse -- more prominent. My car currently has 92k miles on it and have been trying to figure out the issue as this is a huge safety issue to me and my family. On multiple occasions I have found that my car has had low oil in it and carry oil in the back of my car just in case. After doing research, I'm glad to see I'm not alone but also that this is a known issue but I feel like the dealer is waiting for my warranty to expire before anything gets taken seriously.
Ignition design make (kia Soul) my2016 kia Soul easy to steal on 8/2/2022 when I woke to go to my work my back passengers window was broken . Police was call during the investigation the officer showed my steering wheel dis connected not able to drive . Due to kia not warning consumers that their cars are easy to steal has cost me deductible and rental fees to get to work . My car has not began to be service due to the back log of repairs for this incident that is not the consumer fault even if the car repaired is not safe because its target along with posting on social media how to steal kia cars in 30seconds and kia boys tik-tok challenge .
My car starting making knocking noises and as im on the interstate my speed was 70 but I was not going 70 and I never had any trouble out of my car.
While driving to work vehicle oil light started flashing and vehicle started making metal on metal noises and vehicle would not accelerate. I pulled over, turned off the engine. The vehicle would not start again. Took vehicle to a mechanic and he told me that I needed a new engine. I went to the dealer when I found out about the recall. I was told they couldn't do anything for me because I never had the car serviced there.
Coming home from town our 2016 kia Soul lost power. The engine light came on flashing then we could not accelerate the gas pedal. It would not go over 55 mph even if I had the pedal to the floor. I checked recall and it says none. I was reading the other complaints from kia owners. They are having the same issue. It should be a recall. This needs investigated. We’ve only had ours since may 2022. Kia needs to make this right. I know I probably won’t buy another kia.
My car has been shaking some while I’m sitting still at for example a red light. My car does not shift properly when I’m trying to increase speed. There is no check engine light on but it’s definitely something wrong with my car.
I received a notice from kia that my car was part of a recall affecting the engine. I brought my car into the nearest kia dealership to me and they confirmed that my car had a recall in which they were to run a program and check the catalytic converter and engine. I confirmed before and after this visit that they checked everything and was told that yes they checked the catalytic converter and everything was fine and they updated the engine program that was called for by the recall. I have brought my car in atleast 3 times and never having any issue previously was insured that my car would be covered under the recall but that we had to essentially wait for the engine to fail before that could be done. My car has lost power suddenly on the highway twice since this program has been run. Every visit I was told that my car was safe to drive. The most recent visit - which happened less than 30 days from the previous one where I was told my vehicle was safe to drive - has resulted in me being told that my catalytic converter has suddenly become clogged and that “my vehicle is not effected by this recall”. The visit before no such issue was mentioned in fact I was only informed my engine had “some codes and a few misfires” - again this was less than 30 days before my catalytic converter suddenly clogged. It is important to mention that this all happened with 6 months from the time the program was ran until today. I have the receipts of all of my visits to kia. This most recent visit on may 19, 2022 in which I was told about the catalytic converter was the result of the second loss of power on the highway dropping from 70mph to 40mph suddenly and then continuing to decrease as I tried to navigate to the side of the road while traffic continued at normal speed around me; putting me, my child and others on the road at great risk of accident and injury. This is unacceptable.
On a rainy night, I lost all external visibility due to excessive condensation on the front windshield and the other windows on the car seemingly made worse by utilizing the DE-fogger on my car. Of the result of this, I ended up in opposing lanes of traffic and narrowly avoided head on collisions with several vehicles. I am a professional driver with thousands of hours behind the wheel and I know how to react in nearly every emergency situation due to advanced experience and quality training. Upon further research, I discovered that this issue is amongst the more commonly reported complaints on the Soul forums most commonly attributed to a design flaw in the air conditioner drain where the drain line is built too small and tends to become clogged. Component failure: ac drain line. Safety risk: complete loss of external visibility resulting in high potential for a head on collision with opposing traffic. Reproduction: unknown. Inspected: no mils illuminated: none.
The catalytic convertor clogged and issues with excess oil consumption this is an issue I have seen and heard of from many other kia Soul owners as well. I have the repair bill if needed.
As I was heading home from work , about 12 miles into road, vehicle started loosing power, and at it would turn engine off at stop lights, and it would turn back on, and started shaking and running under 40 miles an hour, the next day , warranty was able to tow it to the manufacture dealership service, the service adviser called and said it was the engine, its been three weeks and the issues has not been resolved due to warranty not wanting to pay for repairs.
Check engine on. Code of catalytic converter. It was changed at velazquez auto repair in milwaukee WI, but now the engine is burning oil fast it lasts less than 2000 miles after each oil and filter change. I can't afford another car and im disabled. My VIN is not included in the recall but my car was impacted, I've spent $1,780 on the catalytic converter already. Please help!.
My catalytic converter has gone out 3 times! there has to be something wrong more than just normal wear and tear.
The car lost power suddenly while I was on highway I had a semi truck almost hit me it's the second time it's happened and I had to replace catalytic converter twice and I just got it back from kia dealership in hurst TX it's still making the ticking noise I heard after they replaced the catylic converter the first time they also didn't look into finding out why my kia Soul is using so much oil it burns up fast like in three days from an oil change I'm almost out completely I feel like I would like it if you guys could give me a more reliable car I have a child and I can't keep losing all power while on the highway.
For a week or two when I turned the heated seat on I would often feel a very intense heat from the seat back when it started up for a period of time. I had just recently had a back injury so I thought perhaps my back was being overly sensitive. Finally on the 27th just after I started driving the car in the morning I felt the burning feeling on my back again and stuck my hand behind me to feel the seat. I felt burning on my hand and pain and yanked my hand away immediately, pulled over, and looked behind me at the seat, in time to see a curl of smoke coming out of a small hole on the back of the seat. I also found that the palm of my hand had a small mark beneath the base of my thumb where I had felt the burning pain. It took at least half an hour for the burning sensation to fade. I also detected an odor of smoke for a bit afterward. I had no warning that this was going to happen other than the burning feeling the heated seat had started to generate upon my back- no warning lights or such. I have not had any service done on the problem yet though I intend to contact kia soon; so the car is currently in the same state although obviously I don't turn the heated seat on anymore since I don't want things in my car to be on fire.
My check engine light was continually going on and off for a month took it t get it check found out it was converter and their a recall for converter . Took to the kia dealership with check engine light on to have this taken care they did only a reboot of the engine and light was off so I thought the problem was solve bit the very next day the light was back on went again to the check engine light and again they said it was the catalyst converter took it back to dealership and told their was no more recall on my vehicle I told them about the problem and recall they didn't fix and was told it cost me to do diagnostic test and I week to do that I told I can't be with out a car that long so it was nothing they can do I left and now my check engine light coming on more frequently I might have this fix myself I don't want more engine or worst but why should I pay when this was be taken of them I received a recall notice for same thing 2 days ago and they still won't fix it free of charge what going on and now what shall I do?.
When switching from ac to heat, moisture starts spraying from vents, rapidly dripping on floor and completely fogging up windows causing zero visibility. I was forced to pull off roadway for fear of a collision. It then takes at least ten minutes for the moisture to stop and the windows to clear. This happened a year ago at the same time when the weather is changing from warm days using the ac and then using the heat on cold mornings. The dealership charged me to replace the cabin air filter which did not fix the problem. I have seen this complaint by other kia Soul owners on a number of public internet sites.
There is an on going issue about the cold start. The light went off twice and came back on. It is still the same code. The code is p050a.
Vehicle is constantly burning oil. I have zero engine leaks, no oil spots on engine. Where is the oil going. I took it to kia. They said it was a catalytic converter. Oil loss and p040 code are incorrect. Misdiagnosed. Possible pcv problem. Bought from widrick in watertown NY.
My car just stopped without warning. . Kia dealership states it need a catalyst converter and 02 sensor. . No engine light came on. . It just stopped. . After they put an software for 50000 incase the engine fail. . Well my catalyst converter fail. . Without any warning.
Check engine light came on day before I took it in for kia recall 4/27/2021. It was off after service done. 2 weeks later light came on again and went off 5 days later. Light came on again 2 weeks later- I went auto zone and firestone to have code scan. Both scans showed code p050a----pcm has detected a problem with the idle air control. When I called montrose kia sheffield lake, ohio chris in service said they don't trust auto zone codes and wanted to charge me $129. 99 for them to check code. He told me if the light was steady don't worry about and was very rude and unprofessional. While investigating code info online I found it was a known problem to kia and nothing could be done-problem in ecu logic -no fix-expecting software update. If I went to dealership who knows what they would of done and charged me for.
On a partly cloudy, warm day, I got in my vehicle and closed my driver door; upon the driver door closing, the rear passenger door window exploded, shattering all over the back seat and floor of the car.
Check engine light on more than off or so it seems. Engine code p0s0a. Dealer attempts to fix. Code comes back.
Panoramic sunroof won't close.
