general problems of the 2009 Kia Motor Spectra

When I applied the brake, the car sped up and lurched forward hitting the vehicle ahead of me which was stopped at a traffic light; I had a mechanic inspect it, he said it was the brake calipers and replaced the calipers, and rotors, and the problem has continued to occur. . Have had it back to the mechanic 3 times and he says he cannot reproduce the problem.

Air bag light will not go off.

I am filing this for my mom. She rear ended a car who had stopped the flow of traffic at a green light to let a vehicle out of a parking lot. My mothers air bags did not deploy and she received a double open fracture to her right ankle and a fractured sternum and intense chest traura. While driving the accelerator stuck, causing the car to start speeding , I appied the pedal breaks the engine continued racing, the car continued rolling it wound not stop. I managed to shut off the engine which then stopped the car. I restarted the car, started driving again the engine started racing and the car started speeding, I appied the emergency break and the pedal break at the same time finally the car slowed down enough to shut the engine off.

While unoccupied vehicle with automatic transmission rolled forward several yards in parking lot on very slight grade though transmission was in "park," engine was not running, ignition was turned to "off," ignition key removed, and all doors were locked. Vehicle was driven into parking space and was last in "drive" before being shut off. Visual inspection of shifter cable indicated correct installation and no apparent defect. Pawl appeared to be engaging normally.

While driving my car to work, I noticed the air bag warning light illuminate on the dashboard. As I continued to drive my car, the warning light disappeared and then reappeared. After several days with the same problem, I took my car to an authorized kia dealership for diagnostic testing. The technician discovered it to be the passenger side seat occupant mat failure. The final diagnosis was to replace the entire passenger seat at a cost of $1,900 including parts, labor, and tax. After doing some research into this matter, I discovered this to be an ongoing problem with this year, make and model. I'm surprised this has not been a recall on behalf of Kia Motor corporation. This leaves many people with a decision to replace the entire seat at an exorbitant price or to do nothing and drive an unsafe car. The price of one car seat is nearly half the value of the entire resale value of the car. Kia needs to address this issue if they want repeat customers in the future.
