Due to corrosion, the parking brake cable failed at the right rear brake caliper. Vehicle is a 2005 kia Spectra 5 with 117,000 miles.
I was approx. 6 car lengths from car in front of me, when I hit the brakes to slow down, nothing happened. I continued to hit the brakes , forcing them to the floor and still nothing. First instinct was to veer to the right to avoid hitting the car but my steering had a mind of its own, it would not let me turn or stop. My steering wheel air bag did deploy causing damage to my wrist and arm. But the scary feeling of trying to stop with no response was scary. Roads were a little wet but even then with the abs I should not have been able to put the brake pedal to the floor with no response. I am getting the repair facility to check the brakes.

The vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the problem was not duplicated. The contact used the brake as a back up brake while driving, but it does not stop the vehicle. The car was parked in the driveway in 1st gear with the emergency brake engaged. The brake failed and the car rolled down our driveway and hit the house across the street.
The contact owns a 2002 kia Spectra. The emergency brake has not worked properly since the vehicle was purchased in April 2002. The vehicle continued to move after the brake was engaged. On several occasions, the dealer stated that the brakes are fine and to pull a little harder. The failure mileage was 63,000.
Brakes make noise and feel low, car took time to stop when braking. The dealer adjusted the brake at the first time. Second time they replaced the switch . Still having problems with that noise at the moment. On August 2000 I was driving on a highway at 55mph and all of the sudden the weatherstrip just few inside the car and it looks just li a snake and I almost crash. The car had 1729 mileage. Folowing week the rear door windshield trim came off. The passenger side window won't work because of a cut wire. Everything in this car is falling apart. I didn't expect a new car to be like that. I feel so unsafe in this car specially the smoke that coming from under my steering wheel at times. Pleas help me befoe I get killed in this unsafe car.
