11 problems related to brake disc rotor have been reported for the 1998 Kia Motor Sportage. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer states that when coming to a stop theres grinding noise coming from the right front area of vehicle. Took to dealer and they stated that the hub assembly needed replacing. Consumer states at 7000 mile vehicle grinding noise started again and dealer replaced hub assembly again. Please provide any further information. Nlm.
There is a problem with rotors warping, vehicle will shake when applying brakes. Dealer could not duplicate the problem.
Brake pulsate due to warped rotors.
Front brakes pulsating- check and replaced front rotors.
Brake pads and rotors replaced, causing noise.
Rotors failed causing vibration. Mjs.
Vehicle would drift from left to right when applying the brakes. Also, the brakes would lock up & vehicle would go into a spin. Vehicle would bounce up & down as if no shocks. Had taken vehicle to dealer 4 times & had it test driven. Rotors were changed. The problem could not be duplicated or found.
Vehicle has constant, annoying brake noise. Service manager replaced all the rotors, both front and rear, consumer was told that this was routine maintenace at under 10,000 miles.
Brakes have excess powder on hub caps and replacing of the brake pads and rotors every 3,000 miles.
I have had brakes and rotors replaced due to excessive wear of both - dealer states that this is the manufactures problem that they can not do anything for us - help!!! recall the brakes and rotor manufacturing for the kia Sportages -.
Rotors have been replaced several times due to a squeaking noise made by the brakes when the were applied. Also dealer replaced master cylinder. Rotors, once again, need to be replaced.
